Each and every one of those involved in the incident had a scar to remember this day. The one with the most striking and ugly scar, unsurprisingly, belonged to Angie. She had the hardest time recovering from her injuries too, due to an infection.
When she was finally well enough to join everyone else for meals, Conrad properly apologised to her and offered to relinquish his leadership to her.
“I’m fine staying as the advisor.” Angie politely rejected.
BaoBao grumbled incoherently.
/BaoBao, don’t forget that I’m only this good because I don’t belong to this world. I don’t deserve to be at the top./
[Don’t say that…] BaoBao quietly sulked.
Conrad took a long hard look at Angie’s scar. “I won’t make the same mistake again.” He promised.
“Okay, okay, let’s get back to work. We’re already behind time, aren’t we?” Angie dismissed everyone and broke the sombre atmosphere.
