Unexpected

As soon as Xu Yang came into the scene. The crowds flocked around him and his soon-to-be wife.

Xu An retracted his gaze as soon as he felt a slight bump coming from his right arm.

Averting his attention to whoever bumped his arm, he saw a friend of his. Although they were not that close, they could be considered good friends.

They chatted for a few minutes and cracked some jokes once in a while.

A few hours later, the party went on smoothly without much trouble and Xu An was bored. His friends already dispersed and engaged in conversation with the others. He was left alone and he yawned as he closed his mouth.

Leaning his back against the wall, he wiped the tears from the edge of his eyes.

Suddenly, he remembered something as he looked around and asked himself, where's Arza?

He unknowingly abandoned Arza when he went to the balcony. Arza himself didn't say anything when Xu An left him alone. It seemed that Xu An was too caught in his mind that resulted in this.

He was alarmed as he began looking for him. He asked the guests if they see a child, Xu An tell them Arza's appearance, height.

The guests shook their heads and Xu An was disappointed as he was anxious.

"Uncle Xu, you're looking for me?" A child asked from behind and Xu An turned his body around.

He heaved a sigh of relief. Should he carry the responsibility of a stranger's kid who went missing because of him, he would feel terrible and guilty.

Xu An came in his way as he asked, "where have you been?"

"I'm exploring the mansion and got lost. Fortunately, a maid showed me the way back."

Xu An then noticed a figure behind Arza. A maid with a cute face smiled gently at him. She rubbed Arza's hair and Arza felt comfortable. The warm sensation from her hand stroked gently against his hair, he wanted this feeling to last forever.

"Thank you, Yoru," Xu An said with a smile.

Xu An recognized this maid.

"No problem, Xu An. Still, it's a coincidence this kid knew you," she replied as she retracted her hand from Arza's hair.

"You two knew each other?" Arza asked curiously.

"She's a maid personally assigned to me when I was a child but after twists and turns. She became a head assistant maid in the main house," Xu An replied.

"Nice to meet you again, Yoru. How's father and mother?" Xu An continued with his question.

"They are doing well. But ever since you wake up from your coma. They're acting strange, it's as if they are troubled by something."

"Troubled by something?"

Pondering for a short moment, she answered, "it is hard to tell but I never doubt my judgment. Madam and Master hide it quite well and I couldn't ask about their situation as I'm only a maid."

"I see. As long as they're doing well, that's good. Speaking of which, how do you find this kid?" Xu An pointed his finger to Arza.

"I'm walking in the hallway and saw him lurking around suspiciously so I followed him. When I realized he was lost, I offered my help."

Arza laughed embarrassedly as he scratched the back of his head.

"Xu An, turn around," Yoru said and Xu An was wondering why. Hesitated, he turned around and felt her hand touching his hair.

"Your hair is beautiful and silky. How envious," Yoru commented.

"What are you doing? It can't be that you're planning to cut my hair and make it your own?" Xu An asked cautiously.

"Relax, I'm not that desperate. It'll be over soon. You'll know." Yoru assured him mysteriously and Xu An nodded as Yoru didn't have the reason to have an ill intention.

He felt his hair was being intertwined, slightly pulled.

Half a minute later, Yoru proudly said, "Done!" With a proud smile.

Xu An touched his hair again and noticed it had changed to his original hairstyle. A long braid, black hair.

His anger subsided as he noticed this.

"Thanks, Yoru! It saves me a lot of time!" Xu An turned his body around to Yoru and appreciated what she did.

Yoru giggled seeing Xu An was acting like a child and he didn't change at all. If Xu An could hear her thoughts, he would feel joy and a sense of appreciation.

He probably said, hehe! Come praise me more! Even the actors who were awarded Oscars would be embarrassed before my acting skills!!

"If there's nothing else, I'm going to go. There is a lot of work in the kitchen." Yoru winked cutely and waved her hand.

"See you later." Xu An calmly waved his hand and retracted his gaze to Arza. He asked, "want to go home?"

But Arza didn't say a word. Upon closer look, his focus was all on Yoru. From his expression alone, it was obvious he fell in love.

"Oi…" Xu An waved his hand in front of Arza to get him back to his senses. Feeling the wind sensation before his face, Arza gradually woke up from his previous state.

"Arza, how old are you?" Xu An brought a strange question. Arza wore a puzzled expression.

"Eight years old, why?"

"You like someone older than you, huh? Well, a lot of people are pursuing her so good luck."

"Wh- wha- what are you talking about, uncle Xu? I- I'm not pursuing her!" He retorted as his words were stuttering.

His eyes looked here and there, looking randomly.

Xu An's smile became wide as he hooked around his arm on Arza's neck, "What's there to be the problem? It's not something weird! Didn't I tell you earlier? You miss the 100% chance you don't take!"

His words struck Arza's heart and were deeply imprinted in it. His heart became much more firm than before and filled with a vow that he would not give up before trying.

He looked at Xu An with a firm gaze as he said, "I'll try, uncle Xu."

Xu An was shocked for a short second. Arza's expression was something he didn't expect but then he smiled as he grunted in acknowledgment.

What an interesting kid… Xu An said to himself.

"So, want to go home?"

"Un, it's getting late and I've met your grandpa."

His voice changed to that of excitement as he exclaimed, "An Infantry soldier is cool! Your grandpa has this intimidating vibe coming out of him!"

Xu An was amazed by his quick change of mood.

"Wait when he's angry. It's as if the gravity dropped." Xu An walked out of the main hall and Arza followed. As they walked, something unexpected happened.

"Brother."

Xu An came to a halt upon the voice. As it was familiar, he shifted his line of sight to the source and saw his little brother smiled at him.

Before Xu An could react, his little brother nudged his head to the side as a hint so that Xu An followed him.

Xu An grasped his meaning.

"Come with me," Xu An said to Arza and the former kept up with him from behind.

Most of the crowd had already left so there were not many people. The main hall was pretty much calm.

Xu An was curious why his little brother told him to follow him.

Is it something important? Or that he simply wants to talk with me? Xu An thought and was confident it was the first possibility.

They walked in the corridor and after twists and turns, they entered a room. Xu An could tell the room was special as the door was fancy with a deep, golden carving of different patterns.

Combined forming a strange symbol.

Xu An closed the door as Xu Yang said, "take a seat, brother. Is there anything you like?"

Venture deep into the room, he saw bookshelves on both sides of the wall. In the middle were a desk and a black chair. Above the desk were stacked documents, a quill inside a bottle of ink, and a globe.

"Tea, warm preferably." He replied after a short ponder and continued as he commented, "your study room is more cramped than the last time."

Xu Yang laughed awkwardly as he said, "I like cramp places. It gives me a sense of security."

"What are you, a cat?" Xu An quickly added as one of his brows raised.

The study room had a small kitchen which was enough to brew some tea or coffee. Or cook a few simple delicacies for breakfast.

Not long after, Xu Yang came out of the small kitchen with two cups in his hands.

"Where's your maid?" Xu An casually asked. His little brother was the young master of the clan, daily necessities were provided by maids so it was strange he was the one who served him a cup of tea.

"I hate being pampered like a baby," he replied as he gave Xu An a cup of tea.

"Thanks," Xu An smiled as he accepted the white cup and sat on the chair in front of the desk.

Xu Yang went behind it as he sat on the black chair.

Smelling the aroma of the tea, Xu An felt calmness seeped into his heart and he sipped it before putting it down.

Arza wasn't anywhere near Xu An. He was browsing the books with a curious gaze.

"So, is there something you need from me?" Xu An asked curiously.

"It's been years since we've talked to each other."

"Right but I doubt you're the type that likes to have a chat. There must be something you want to say."

Xu Yang gently put the cup on the desk and his expression turned solemn. Xu An frowned but then, he felt danger crept up from the depths of his heart.

Before he had the chance to search where the source was coming from. He felt a cold barrel before his forehead.

"Brother, quit the clan or die today." Xu Yang's voice was so calm that it made him more terrifying.
