Reserval Corrosion

"Tch." A man clicked his tongue as he retracted his sniper rifle back to a guitar case. He was dressed in all black and due to the darkness of the room.

It was quite hard to perceive his face.

He pressed a small, black headset. A blue dot glowed and he said, "Target escape, Wanson died."

After a short pause, someone on the other side replied, "How did you fail to complete a simple mission? I began to doubt if I hired a professional."

The voice was discontent.

"My apologies but it's part of your fault too. You didn't say he could dodge bullets and his strength is more than you said!

"Wanson died without much resistance!" He was infuriated that veins bulged out of his head.

"Watch your words. Do you know who I am?" The voice was deep and intimidating.

"And I don't give a damn. I'm going to retreat now, and by the way, how much is this device? It's an innovation."

The person on the other side twitched his mouth. This sniper assassin was shameless and it was thicker than any walls.

Also, wasn't his friend dead? Earlier he mourned for him but now, it was as though he forgot it already. If he moved on, wasn't it a bit fast?

"Cannot. Not because you can't afford it but this communication tool is rather hard to acquire.

"It was manufactured by a company in the country of Moderna Futuria. The country is in the deepest region of the Dark Continent. It is a country more advanced than any civilization in the world.

"That gun of yours is also from that country and it's from twenty years ago."

The assassin man was amazed that his eyes opened wide. It lasted for a few seconds.

This gun is already powerful, what's the recent gun they recently produced is like? The assassin man thought to himself and was eager to try it himself!

But if he wanted to, he had to go into the Dark Continent and that place was no different than graveyards.

Even the strongest and talented cultivators were found dead. Let alone him, an ordinary cultivator with no talent whatsoever.

He deleted the thought of going into the Dark Continent. The danger outweighs the benefits.

As soon as the flower seed was formed. Xu An put it into his pocket, went into his room to get his scarf and scabbard, and quickly went downstairs as he left the Inn.

His hasty action attracted the attention of the Inn staff. They were bewildered as they watched Xu An.

As soon as he left the Inn, he looked around and saw a carriage. He raised his hand as he waved it.

The carriage driver saw him and pulled over.

Xu An opened the door and hurriedly entered it.

"Go to the Jade Wine pub!" Xu An informed the driver hurriedly.

The driver was shocked that his passenger abruptly yelled but he didn't say anything as he made the horses advance.

After the horses galloped, Infantry soldiers and the capital's Security Forces barged into the Inn and went to the room where Xu An was in.

Xu An noticed this but remained calm. With the commotion he made, it would be weird if the Infantry and the Security Forces didn't check the situation.

Next, Xu An lay down without concern as if this was his carriage. The driver was aware and was troubled.

"I'm sorry sir but can you not do that?" The driver said.

"I reserved this entire carriage now." Xu An pulled out the brown envelope filled with money and grabbed some as he gave it to the driver.

The driver's eyes lit up, "Very well, sir." His tone became much more polite.

Xu An's mouth twitched. Money could do everything huh.

The journey went smooth and the carriage slowly stopped. Xu An got up as he left the carriage, feeling revitalized.

The journey took half an hour and he had enough time to recuperate. He was almost at his peak.

"Thank you," Xu An said to the driver and the latter nodded as he smiled. He then flicked the rope as the horses slowly quickened their pace.

Staring at the building before him, he saw the sign written 'Jade Wine Pub' hung on the building.

Xu An walked as he opened the door. The pub wasn't crowded as it was a working hour.

Most adventurers and explorers went out to do their missions so, except some trash humans in the society who drank on this fine day, the pub was close to deserted.

As Xu An swept his gaze over the pub, he saw Morgiana talking with her colleagues and it seemed she didn't notice his presence.

He came to the counter and sat. There was an old man in the bartender's suit cleaning a fancy glass. Despite the fact that Xu An sat in front of this man.

The old man kept cleaning as if Xu An was non-existent. Xu An frowned yet found it amusing.

Xu An then tapped the counter a few times and the old man jolted in surprise that the glass almost fell from his hand.

His face was slightly pale as he looked at Xu An as if he was an apparition.

Xu An was bewildered yet he let out an awkward laugh, "sorry."

The old man calmed himself as he asked, "What do you want?"

"The pub's specialty please." Xu An smiled and the bartender nodded as he got to work.

While waiting for his drink, Xu An entered his mind as he flipped the book. Aside from cultivation techniques, the book covered a lot of cultivation knowledge too, it was both profound and easy to understand.

For Xu An who was just in this world for a few hours, the knowledge he got was interesting. It was something new and he would lie if he didn't want to learn more of it.

I wonder if I should pave the path of a scholar? They look awesome too. With a mountain of wisdom in my head, I shall shock the world! Something like that? Xu An thought to himself and began to consider.

Although he was an assassin in his past life, it wasn't wrong to do something new. Kinda ironic, actually.

He despised school yet he wanted to be a scholar without attending one. Furthermore, he wanted to conquer the Great Tower. Was there a history where a scholar who mainly focused on books went outside to conquer dungeons one after another?

Most scholars had a weak physique and many cultivators didn't like it as it was more of a brain than brawn. Spending an entire day reading books instead of cultivating, probably only special beings could do that.

Anyway, as Xu An digested the information he got, his body subconsciously cultivating. It was as though his body was excited and was impatient and so, it put the theoretical knowledge into practice.

Xu An was cultivating without knowing it! As he was unaware of this, he continued reading as he flipped pages after pages.

Finally, he retracted his attention from his mind to reality.

He didn't know why, but he felt much stronger than before.

It's as if I just cultivated… Xu An said slowly as he narrowed his eyes.

"Jade Dawn Specialty, Moonless Forest." The bartender put the drink in front of him.

Xu An smiled as he said, "Thanks."

Taking a sip, he felt a cold sensation go through his throat. It was both fresh and relaxing.

"How rare of you going here." A voice came from his right. Shifting his line of sight to the source, he saw Morgiana sitting beside him with a smile and curious gaze.

"I'm here for something. Do you know anything about lost pets recently?" Xu An asked.

"Lost pets?" Morgiana frowned as she continued, "There are some rumors about pets gone missing but it was no ordinary pets.

"It is tamed beasts. I don't know the exact details but I heard the Security Forces are on the hunt looking for the syndicate behind this."

"Did they get anything?"

Morgiana shook her head, "No, I have some friends there and they usually go here. They said the syndicate behind this is tricky and difficult to handle."

It seems the Security Forces already handle this but seems in trouble, Xu An thought to himself.

Based on the information he had, the Security Forces remained silent. Perhaps it was recently they acted? That appeared to be the case.

"Tamed beasts?" Xu An asked.

Morgiana nodded her head, "Yes, beast tamers are not rare in the capital. It's just that they aren't allowed to bring their beasts into the city, as it could cause potential troubles."

"What happened to their beasts then?"

"Beast tamers could store their beasts inside their bodies."

After a short pause, Xu An voiced out his doubt with a frown, "Doesn't that mean their beasts are completely safe? How did they get stolen in the first place?"

Morgiana shrugged her shoulders, "I'm a waitress. Tamed beasts gone missing is none of my concern."

"Tch, useless," he muttered as he clicked his tongue but that didn't escape from her ears.

Morgiana sighed as she said, "Why would I have to care about beasts that I don't know of? If you tell me three days ago, I would have collected more information about it."
