"Why would she do that?" She bit her tongue as soon as she asked, worried her question would make him hurt more than he already was.

"She thought it would be fun. And seeing how sad you are, I would say she was right to think so." He grinned, making her roll her eyes. Would he die if he was serious for a minute?

Taking his response as unwillingness to talk about it, she stopped pestering and grabbed her book.

"Is that lifeless book better to look at than me?" He complained. She was certain of it now, he was out of his mind. She thought he would be bored of the silence and leave soon, only for him to recline into her pillows for a nap. She could soon hear his slow, gentle breaths that prompted her to go over and lie next to him. Unlike him, she was not sleepy so she watched his peaceful face. If anyone were to tell her that he was the same man who kept pushing her to the wall with his insanity, she would never believe them.
