The fall of the immortals (2)

He stared at the fallen goddess on the floor and didn't immediately process what had just happened.

"Darius." Elifur's voice snapped him out of his trance, explaining the dagger.

"You…" He couldn't bring himself to ask if he had killed her. "She's  your sister."

"And she hurt too many people. I couldn't let her hurt you." Elifur couldn't bring himself to look down at his sister, once a jovial goddess, now fallen like a mortal never to wake up.

"Hurt me?" He was confused.

"If you killed her, you would be guilty for the rest of your life. You would never live down the fact that your mother ldied by the sword in your hand." He patted Darius's shoulder. He didn't think he would be able to do it either.

"Most of what she did is my fault I enabled her. It was only right that I face the guilt of her death."
