Chapter 14

I marched boldly down the school hallway looking smart in my new uniform. I felt stares from all angles, but I didn't care, instead I raise my chin higher.

Rumpaging through my bag, I search for the keys to my locker. I pull out the single key and there was a loud click as It unlocked.

"Hey Sophie, looking smart!"

I turned around to face the three bff's. "Thank you!"

"Your skirt is longg." Crystal stated.

Long??? It was just a little bit below my knee, just as the rule book demanded."...Yeah, it...might be, but what can I do?" I replied bending sideways to look at the skirt.

"Well, there is always something we can do. Margie sews clothes...I mean, clothes to die for!!" Crystal exclaims.

"They are not to die for!" Maggie nudges crystal slightly.

"Shhhh." Crystal places a finger on her lips.

"Well, Sophie; your skirt is perfectly okay even though I wouldn't like to wear that." She chuckles. "At least you are abiding by the rules...exactly what is required from a new student."

The other girls slowly but eventually nodded their heads in agreement.

......

It was English period. I was wondering how jaxil ended up sitting behind me for the second time in less than two days.

There was a big werid gap between his desk and my chair, he obviously didn't want to close up; which was okay by me.

The teacher had told us to silently read a short passage and after the time elapses, he would ask questions. My head was bent over a textbook on my table, I pressed my ears with my index finger trying to block any sort of noise.

There was a continuous tapping of a pen on a table, which was very distracting. I could tell it came from behind. This guy was obviously seeking attention. He changed the rhythm and started tapping a bit faster. Why was the teacher playing deaf to this noise?

"Hey! Can you stop seeking for attention?" I whisper as soon as my back was turned.

He looked up. "I seek no fucking attention, bro." He replies in a low dry voice.

I turn back around, trying to keep my cool. Did this dude just call me bro? Do I look like a male figure to him? I drag my gaze back to my textbook- that tapping sound, it was more pronounced. That's it! I raise my hand up high without thinking.

After waiting for over five seconds without the teacher noticing my courageous gesture, I put my hands down. I hear a stifled laugh from behind and clench my fist.

He hits my chair. "you could also get the teachers attention by saying something...his name is Mr Stephen."

"Shut up!" I say, with the lowest voice.

"Why are you even so close to the person infront of you? Can't you maintain the even space in front of every desk?" He whispered.

I look to my side stylishly. He was right. It was like I didn't want my chair close to his desk...gosh, that is so childish. He should better not have the wrong impression. I wouldn't do that purposely because I have no buisness with him.

He drags my chair backwards with his foot. I shift it forward. "leave my chair alone." I hissed.

"Was just trying to help," he says pushing it forward.

My chair mirages into my table with a noise that got the teachers attention.

The teacher looks up from his textbook with an annoyed frown on his face.

"Why are you always disturbing jax...il?" The teacher questioned.

"I'm sorry, sir. It's not me this time it's she." He pointed a finger at me.

Looking away from his pointed firger, I stare at him; my eyebrows arched. He gives me a small annoying smile and I look away only to meet maquenzies dark lined green eyes peering at me. I swallowed and quickly looked away.

The teacher looked at him in disbelief, unsure of what to say.

    I didn't say anything either.

He was looking at jax. "So, class? We all should be done reading the passage by now, because I am going to be asking questions...that requires answers."

I chuckled to myself, of course what else do questions require? Probably because no one ever answers them.

"Well, I hope you took note of the underlined words. We are going to be discussing them." He stood to write on the board.

I don't know about jax but I am ready for this class work. I remember reading it yesterday, thanks to our scheme; so going over it again was like revision.

Can someone tell me the meaning of the first word on the board?

And that was how my first English class went...

.......

When it was lunch time, maxil complained about not wanting the school's food, so they decided to go to a nearby restaurant and then they invited me. I gladly accepted. I didn't want to be left alone at the cafeteria.

Using Chloe's car and with her also driving, we go to a place called eat out. It was a beautiful place with a heavenly scent, very attractive, And the closest restaurant to the school.

Personally, I enjoyed seeing such a lovely place; other than the mansion and my school. It was a pity Miss rodiguez was not welcoming enough to simply say one or two to her guards concerning giving me a tour around Maryland city. It would not take anything from her. Maybe she is so busy...not unwelcoming. She actually was welcoming...rather formally.
