Chapter 19

Physical education, being a compulsory subject in this school; had to be attended by me. I would have loved to skip the class, but I do not know how to do that or have the balls rather.

I was dressed in a light-green and black jersey. I was wearing designer black sneakers. It was given to me by crystal, she said it was her spare in case disaster struck. It looked new to me and smelled of perfume. I wouldn't doubt if she had never worn it before.

Coincidentally, everyone in this school that seemed to revolve around my new lifestyle seemed to be in this class. I had already spotted Mackenzie, she is very noticeable and is dressed in all pink, Including the four rings that decorated her long slender white fingers.

Crystal approached me. Her jersey shorts were shorter than the rest of us, except Mackenzie. Mackenzie had on a maxi skirt that revealed its shorts on its sides.

"Do you want to go for a run round the track with me?" Crystal was asking. She kept jogging on the spot, bouncing on one foot and then another.

My eyebrows shot up and my mouth hung open. "Why?" Why would I want to do that? No!

"Why not? It's sports." She gave an innocent shrug.

"I don't really like sports."

"Oh." She stopped bouncing and put her hands on her waist. "That wouldn't be for long...I was just like you when I was new. I hated sports, But trust me; they would not just make sports compulsory and stop there." She said, nodding. "Later babe." She jogged off.

I watched her as she went, her legs grabbing my attention. They were long, curved, and fit.

"Yoo! Sophie catch."

Just as I turned, a ball flew directly at my face. Thinking fast, I plunged my hand forward and caught it.

"Nice catch." It was Jax.

I noticed the tight muscles on his exposed arms. It gave me shivers.

"I'm surprised you caught that. I didn't expect you to." He said, staring me up and down.

I could wrap myself in bedsheets just so he would not be able to do that...He didn't expect me to..."So you expected the ball to hit my face then?" I spat, looking up at him angrily.

"Err, Not exactly."

I thrust the ball into his arms and walk away. Finally! I don't have to worry about what to say, but where am I heading now?

"Hey! I am sorry, okay." He apologized.

I ignored him. I will rather be on my own anyway. It is nothing personal.

Past the track and field, I observe our coach standing close to the bleachers. She is finally finished with her very important meeting with the senior sections head of the department. Presently, she is jogging towards our direction. It is a very good thing she is back. At least there will be orderliness.

I turned around and observed my mates running around and having fun. Coach approached us and everyone settled gradually. Most of the guys were already sweating.

I sat on a long white marble surface in the locker room, all sweaty. My brows were arched and I untied my shoelaces roughly. Why would sports be compulsory, and nobody complained?

"Aww, the new rich kid doesn't like our schools' curriculum," some girls snickered as they passed. I eyed them and continued with my laces. Now the shoe was dirty green. I left the shoelaces and sat up to breathe, I was panting. Our coach is nice, but she seemed to be giving me extra attention, pushing me beyond my limits. If she thinks she can make me like sports, then she is wrong.

"Baby girl is tired." Crystal said laughing.

"How do you even have the strength to laugh?" I breathed out.

"Why wouldn't I?" She laughed again. "Don't worry, coach will make you like sports." She winked.

"She can't force me."

Crystal laughed loudly. "Why can't she force you? Are you more stubborn than Mackenzie? That girl brought a lawyer. She laughed again. "And it was without her parents' consent, but do you see her now? She is among the best girls that is able to go for a hundred meters dash. Who would have believed back then? Wake up, baby girl."

I already felt weak. I knew this sports issue would catch up with me. "Well..." I looked down at the shoe on my leg. Crystal looked at me. I didn't even want to look up at her face, but I had to."I'm so sorry."

"What happened? My shoe? " She laughed for the third time. "Can't you see mine?"

I stared at the ones she wore. They weren't any better. "I wonder why there would be rain right before sports."

"Get used to it babe." She brought out her towel and placed it on her head. "The girls and I want to tell you something right after closing. We are just hoping it wouldn't be too late for you. Larer baby, I'm off to the shower."

"Okay. I think I'll hit the shower also, I stink."

"Good for you girl." Crystal was already walking away.

"What did they want to tell me now?" My body tingled with excitement.
