Svartir sauðir af fjölskyldunni

Pierced from below,

souls of my treacherous past,

betrayed by many,

now ornaments dripping above

Slayer

Leaves, branches and probably a few more other things, tore my skin, while i spun and landed one more time on the sands. My body still vibrated with electricity. And i smelled burning.

I felt cold water being thrown in my face and a fish flopping on my forehead. The culprit for this act was none other than the assistant of Gloom. One of the broken wings flapped happily when he saw that i was fine.

— Wow, that was a nice one! — Gloom draconic feet sank in the sand as he walked towards me, handing me a towel and a bottle of water. — You almost got it!

— Thanks. Coach. Shit… My whole body is sore… — I complained, while getting up with difficulty and massaging where it hurt. — Motherfucker knows what he's job.

— Indeed! — He took his wand out of his pocket and made a tablet in the air. — Now you have been defeated exactly… 2019.869.173 times.

I lifted my head from the sand and looked at the calculator ''i am a disappointament''. I hit my head in the sand again.

— Wow, wow, wow, get your ass up! — He stared at me, his hat covering the sun. He made another movement with his wand and my body started to stand up alone. — Remember kid, if wasn't first…

My feet touched the ground and i repeated the sentence with disgust. Specifically.

— It's not gonna be second either…

— Yeah. From about there. — He clapped his tiny hands and the gargoyle wearing a beach short took his instruments. — You know the drill right? Of course you know! Bye, until tomorrow!

— ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAR!!! — Howled Tommy. I knew it meant words of support. He turned and accompanied his master.

I started walking back to the battlefield. The animals commented what a failure i was and the plants made way, feeling sorry.

— Oh, no. The little girl is having a breakdown…! — I didn't have to turn around to find out who was accompanying me. My nightmare had a black ponytail that stretched out front of the shoulder. The white shirt was, as always, worn. Perhaps due to the excess of being in the sun. Or maybe for tormenting too many souls, the guy is a fucking death angel! — Hey! Cheer up! I know a lot of people who couldn't do what you do.

— What? Fail countless times?

— Exactly! But you do it with a determination that i've never seen in anyone…

We arrived at the exit of the forest and at a considerable distance, surrounded by a field of burnt wheat, my second nightmare lay ahead. The helmet was almost useless for what that guy was able to do. The cape shone with electricity and the sword stuck in the ground called me for one more try.

— I think you know how much i hate him, right? — I said, my hand on my hips, while i watched the worst physical education teacher in the world. And i wasn't talking about the guy with the bizarre helmet a few meters in front of me, looking patiently.

— Each one alive being has his story, do you happen to know how he met your mother? — Asked Aldren, sitting on the grass with an evil smile.

— Nope. I never asked… And, i think i will never ask. — I admitted, sitting on the grass with him.

The sunset was behind us, so even with trees protecting us, i still felt my back burn. We are looking at my punishment for a few minutes, until he drawed a rune in the air with the longsword. He putted the weapon back in the quiver and started walking to the cabin in the mountains. End of the day.

— The two were promised to each other. Weirdly. — Uttered Aldren.

— What…? Oh! Okay…? — I forgot he was there. And i couldn't resist. — For what? Avoid war? Maintain peace between any nations?

— Nope. They were just promised to each other.

— Like destiny? — I asked, as i got up and started walking back to the village. We passed the torches that lit up magically when night came. Only my shadow projected.

— Incorrect. Promised.

— So… Someone arranged a wedding for them, before they were even born?

— Incorrect again. Just, promised.

We walked a little further and arrived at the village entrance. Thunderville was known for its festivities that seemed to last forever, and it was no different. The noise of people laughing and celebrating nothing in particular, it was, if i was in a good mood, music to my ears.

— This is confusing. — I put my hands on my waist. — And you weird.

— This doesn't hurt my feelings, i've been called worse. — Said Aldren, with a malicious smile. He pointed to where my grandpa was, and when i looked back at Aldren, he disappeared.

I started walking to the communal table. The table was not yet full of food, but the employees who served my father, already took care of that.

Reder had a tankard and sent a good amount of Rum when he saw me approaching.

— Hello, favorite granddaughter. — He said, looking at me sideways, making the eye patch tighten on the skin.

I hit the stick and put my legs on the table.

— Yeah, that's a lie. You don't have a favorite.

He cleared his throat, at the same time he laughed. How this guy can be alive, he has like, a lot of health problems!

— Oh, i hate smart people! — He pulled me into a hug and i returned it. The fishy smell would probably stay in my clothes for at least 2 weeks. — How are things and training going?

— I'm sorry if i'm going to bore you with this, which i may already be doing, but the usual. Nothing new. Now, the training i'm finally getting the hang of.

— Shit, you finally got a spark girl?!

I showed him the tattoo. Intact. He laughed again.

— You worry too much! — One of the servants placed a plate in front of me. Smoked sausage, my favorite food. I took a toothpick and ate one. — What will someone want the Emersyn for? Don't need to turn on the stove? Cooking food, in your hand? For the love of the gods!

— Well, i don't care what my dad thinks, but i'm doing it to prove to him that i'm not a failure. Even though, i was born as one. — I stuffed three sausages into the toothpick and set it down my throat.

— My son is the worst person in the universe and look that i've known worse! — He took the tankard to his mouth and took a long drink, before continuing. — You should not pay attention to what he says or how he acts. He, who is the loser.

The music started to get lively and people started dancing in pairs, clapping. The yellow light from the lamps that swayed on the wires added a touch, to that occasion.

— You're right, but what if the lightning comes tomorrow?

— Then good for you. But don't you do it for him. — Said Raden.

I smiled.

— I wasn't doing it anyway.

With the stick extended, up in the air, i hit my stick with his sword. He parried easily, throwing me aside soon after. He reached out and sent a lightning bolt towards me, but i was ready. Instead of defending with my stick, i turned to the side and tried to knock him down with my legs.

My plan almost worked. I leaned on the blade and got ready to jump again, but in midair, a hammer, conjured by lightning, came crashing through my belly and I was sent away, passed out, unable to feel pain or know if I was dead.
