26 - What a strange smell!

Even without taking his eyes off the square, Ataz was not curious to find out about it, so he just let the speed of the bike take the view of the square out of the view of his eyes.

Ataz redirected his attention back to Ana's belongings that were scattered around the backpack.

Fiddling toward the bottom, he found a strange and small package where some balls were drawn on the packaging in a bluish green tone. It smelled good and sweetly addictive. Ataz fitted his small nose into the package, smelling the sweet and icy smell, until deep in the package he found a single little ball just like the one on the package and, without thinking too much, began to smell it entirely, as if mesmerized by the smell.

He fitted the candy between his little paws and snuggled into the bag while smelling that small, soft ball until, without realizing it, Ana went through some kind of hole that made the bike jump and forced Ataz to throw his little new ball through the tear in his backpack, losing it forever.

He turned desperately and put his little eye in the tear looking for his sweet and smelling green ball, but he couldn't see it anymore. Ataz was slightly upset and settled in his backpack, showing a little drama about the loss of his new toy.

After a few minutes of annoyance, the cat realized that the lights were no longer shining on the street. That meant Ana had gone elsewhere. Ataz got up and looked through the tear in his backpack and realized they were in a place that barely had buildings. He started to wonder if he was near his old house.

The houses were next to each other, large, with no gate in front protecting them, and they had huge gardens. They even somewhat had a resemblance to castles. Ataz thought it was strange. They were so easy to break into yet were such big and beautiful houses. In his day, places like this were protected by huge walls or even guards.

After a few minutes, Ana stopped the bike and got out with her backpack on her back. She walked quietly to one of the houses. It was large and had a yellow color painted on the walls.

Ataz, from inside the backpack, heard an irritating noise coming from inside the house.

*BEEEEEEEEEEEH*

Ana stopped and took something out of her pocket that Ataz could not see. "Can you come to the door, please?" she said, seemingly to no one.

"Okay." Ataz heard a voice that sounded like it was at the other end of a cave suddenly come from whatever Ana had in her hand.

Someone opened the door and said to Ana with irritation in his voice, "Why keep pressing the bell like that? We were already going up."

"Are you crazy? If someone assaults me here, I don't even care about my cell phone, but the data would cost us both our kidneys and more," she said indignantly to the boy.

"How cool," he said, rolling his eyes.

Ana entered the house with the boy. The cat, from inside the backpack, started to observe what the house was like internally. Apparently, there was nothing much. It was normal, with no trace of magic or anything.

"But hey? Aren't your parents home today?" Ana asked the boy as they walked around the house.

"Nah," he said mockingly. "It's their wedding anniversary. They must be fucking right now," the boy laughed.

"But it's not even 8pm yet," Ana commented, tilting her head to the side, as if in doubt.

The boy laughed and replied, "Ana, they are old; they sleep early."

Upon entering the house there was a huge hallway leading to the kitchen. On the right there was a staircase that should lead to the rooms and on the left the television room was already right in front of it.

They walked to the kitchen. However, before they entered, the boy turned to the right where there was a kind of secret door and opened it, going down the stairs shortly thereafter. Ana, without any hesitation, descended right behind as if she had already done this millions of times. Ataz started to wonder if this could be a plan to end his life: Ana taking him to a mysterious place, far from home, some people in a dark room. He was really concerned about the whole situation.

"Just don't mind the mess because Fred's been sleeping here for almost a week," the boy said as he kicked some clothes off the stairs.

"But what an exaggeration, I've only been here for 4 days," someone shouted from the back of the room while Ana gave a small, shy laugh.

Ataz began to observe the place through the tear in his backpack. The environment was dimly lit, with no opening to escape. There were clothes scattered on the floor and the smell was strange, as if there was some kind of cheese in place.

Ana walked to the corner of the room, greeting everyone around from a distance and carefully placed the backpack on the floor. "Look, guys, I kind of now have a new kitten and I couldn't leave him alone at home today because he is very scared, you know. So I brought him here, but be nice to him, ok? He is very afraid of people," she said as she crouched down to carefully open the backpack.

Ana then started to open the suitcase calmly and Ataz was prepared for if he had to jump on someone's head for fear of falling into a trap. Then, when she opened the backpack, Ataz stuck his little head out and looked around.

Everyone had their heads turned to the cat, curious about the little critter that was in the backpack. Ataz, looking at the scene, realized that they would not harm him even if they wanted to. He looked at the boys: one was lying on the floor, dirty with food, the other had glasses with a prescription to such a degree that it looked like his eyes were bigger than his head. The third had a traveled look, as if he were not in the same universe that the rest of them were in and the boy who had had appeared to welcome Ana inside was terrified of the animal, as if Ataz were a tiger was coming out of the girl's backpack.

"ANA, I HAVE AN ALLERGY TO CATS! WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY THIS BEFORE?" The boy who had received Ana said while hiding behind the boy with the glasses.

"That's fine. I brought my brother's medicine in my backpack," she said, taking out a small white pot that was in her front pocket.

Ataz sat on the floor of the room next to the backpack, and began to watch the place carefully. He didn't feel any magic coming from anywhere. The atmosphere was peaceful even though it was dark and with a not very pleasant smell. He didn't feel in danger being here, but he couldn't let his guard down since he didn't know any of the boys.

"So, what's his name?", The boy with a baby voice said as he walked slowly towards the cat, wanting to pet him.

"DON'T TOUCH HIM! Yeah... He's really scared, you know? So he might scratch you," she said as she looked around, thinking of an answer. "I still haven't thought of a name for him. I didn't even know if I would end up keeping him, so I didn't try to get too attached," she added looking at the cat.

Ataz returned the look, understanding her thought, but he found it contradictory because after what happened at her house, Ana already seemed to like him very much. At least, he understood that it was very difficult for someone to cry for someone else.

"We could call him Rengar," the one with the glasses suggested.

"What a shitty name! Would you want to go by the name of a LoL champion if you were a cat? Think of a cooler name, like a god's name. Something like Cronos," the boy lying on the floor, dirty with food had interrupted.
