Ana got on the bike and drove towards her house. Ataz failed to pay attention on the way back. He felt his eyes heavy, as if asking for a rest, but the cat was fighting sleep. He didn't want to risk losing something with his eyes, maybe even going through some danger just by sleeping in something not so safe.
The path seemed farther than usual. The wind was colder and the cat curled up in Ana's backpack, trying to make his body warm, but it was no use. The icy wind invaded the backpack torn by all the holes and enveloped Ataz, leaving him almost shivering with cold.
Ataz rubbed his small paws over his eyes, trying to make his eyes less tired, but that only seemed to make the situation worse. He then got up from his position and tried to get closer to one of the rips in the backpack, wanting to see if there was anything through the hole. However, due to having almost no cars on the street at that time, Ana was driving the bike much faster, and this caused the backpack to end up moving a lot, preventing the cat from moving around very much.
Ataz raised his head, trying to see what would be on the other side of the tears, but everything was going too fast in front of him and that only hurt the little cat's head, confusing his vision.
The tired cat ended up laying down and just curled up again in the shaggy, shiny fur he had, until his eyes, already heavy with tiredness, drooped as the cat's became dominated by sleep, making him rest on that cold night inside the backpack.
After some time, Ana, realizing that the cat was sleeping, carefully placed the backpack on top of her bed so as not to wake him. She opened the backpack without making a lot of noise, and very gently removed the sleeping cat from inside the backpack. Ana put him on the end of her bed, still sleeping, and realizing that his hair was very cold, he might be cold.
So Ana walked over to the second room and took a small blanket that she had kept on a shelf. The girl returned to her room and carefully covered Ataz, making him feel more comfortable and stop being curled up in bed. The girl lay on her bed, tired, covering herself with a part of the blanket that the cat was lying on. Ataz didn't even notice the girl's presence. He only slept as if he had been lying in that bed from an early hour.
The day began to dawn. The bright and warm rays of the sun began to invade the room, warming the body of the cat, who, in the middle of his sleep, started to move his hind paw, trying to take the blanket off him. However, without wanting to, he ended up slightly scratching the girl in the leg with a claw, who ended up getting scared and kicked Ataz out of the bed.
The cat jumped in fright and ran under the table, sure that he would be attacked in the middle of his sleep. Ana got up quickly at the same moment, scared. She scratched her eyes, trying to see what would be in front of her, and when she looked to the side, Ataz was under the table, scared in an attack position, and things on the girl's table were floating, as if he were going to throw them at the first person to appear in front of him.
Ana's eyes widened, terrified. She put her hands on the bed, helping herself to rise slowly as she looked at the cat in fright. "Cat, calm down! It's alright! It was unintentional; it's fine!" She repeated calming phrases with a panicked voice as she motioned with her hands for him to lower the objects.
Ataz had his pupils fully dilated and was huddled under the table, looking sideways, trying to see if there was anything strange hidden in the room.
Ana slowly bent down towards the animal and delicately began to bring her hand close to the cat's head so that it would not be scared anymore, until, without realizing it, Ana gently touched her fingertips to Ataz's head, opening the palm of her hand until it touched the kitten's head completely, trying to calm him down.
The cat that was paralyzed, was slowly returning to normal with the girl's touch. He was feeling safer and lowered the objects slowly while Ana continued to slowly caress the little boy's head. "It's okay, boy," Ana said with a gentle smile on her face.
Suddenly Ataz then completely returned to reality and, realizing that Ana was stroking him, he immediately walked away and ended up dropping all the objects on the table, but from a short distance. One of the objects hit the end of the table and was about to fall to the floor, but Ana quickly reached out and scooped up the headset that almost fell and broke on the floor. She got up and placed it on the table again, looking around it to see if any part had been damaged.
Ataz, confused over what had just happened, continued looking at Ana with a closed look, as if he was slightly irritated at her having caressed him, but still, he felt a strange feeling of thanks for her having made him calm down.
Ana bent down, placing her head under the height of the table to be able to see the animal. "Are you alright? Do you want to have coffee?" She said to him, with a gentle smile on her face. Ataz felt welcomed that she was not questioning him about the magic, but even though he was smiling and being kind, he felt fear running through the girl's veins.
Ataz continued to stare at her, showing no expression. Ana then got up and walked towards the kitchen. Ataz realized that she kept her hands closed the whole time she talked to him after that happened, as if it were a way for her not to lose her sanity. He found it a little funny, but immediately shrugged it off, just walking into the room where the girl had gone.
The girl had her back to the table, preparing something for them to eat. The cat jumped on the table and watched her cook. It was curious for Ataz to watch the girl cooking. There were so many foods and spices that he had never even heard of and she knew how to mess with everyone, making incredible foods.
He admired the way she quickly cut any type of food. Even with all the magic he had, it was still surprising.
After a few minutes, Ana placed a smaller plate in front of the little one, with some flowery details. She turned and took a different kind of bread, placing it on her own plate and on the cat's plate. Ana poured a golden syrup and honey over it. Ataz smelled it and immediately realized what that strange syrup was: it was honey.
He was impressed by the amount Ana had kept in that jar. This was difficult to achieve in large quantities due to the work that had to be collected without being stung, besides the price that it was sold for at the time of the cat.
He put one of the paws on the end of the bread, trying to cut with the claw. Ana then interrupted him and pulled the plate towards herself, cutting it into small pieces for the kitten to eat. Ataz watched her cut at it, feeling his belly growl with hunger.
Ana returned the dish to the animal, who quickly ate the food, getting crumbs and honey all over the hair near his mouth and causing a huge booger. Strangely, Ataz couldn't taste sugar so well. It was as if his head remembered the taste, but his tongue couldn't identify what was "sweet". Ataz was frustrated, trying to eat and lick the plate, not feeling any sweets. Perhaps that was caused by the new honey of today, or because the cats could not taste the "sweet" taste, but he hoped desperately for the first reason.
