Sera's POV:
"I'd like to meet your boys then, Robert. If one of them is on par with my Sera then they must be outstanding, yea?" I heard father speak up after a moment of silence. Robert looks around before zoning out.
"My eldest appears to be in a private room while my younger one is over there, busy with the ladies." He says, pointing to a handsome young man with the same dark brown hair as his vampire mother. It's pushed back and neat with only one small strand that falls on his smooth forehead. His eyes are deep red, like rubies. He definitely takes after his mother and he has feminine features. Cat like eyes, small nose, and plump lips, but he also has sharp bone structure and sword like brows. He looks like a pretty boy with that cheshire grin painted on his face. A casanova. Like he was printed straight out of one of those smutty reverse haram mangas. He's surrounded by women of all species. Wolves, witches, vampires, even a dwarf woman.
"Sera, call him over here, won't you?" My father says to me. I personally have no interest in meeting him as I have a really good feeling he's going to hit on me. Besides, I've met many like him. The "life is good" type of supernatural.
The type that doesn't believe in consequences because of their power, looks, and daddy's money. I'm all for having fun, but just because we're immortal doesn't mean we can fuck up and not care. Just because we are stronger than humans doesn't make us god.
After all, there's always someone stronger than you and you never know when that person could decide to check you for your mistakes. But, maybe he'll surprise me so I decide to mind link him because I don't want to make every female in the room hate me for stealing their eye candy.
"What's his name?" I ask Robert. He looks confused at first but answers anyway. "Silas. His name is Silas Woods." He said. His mother definitely named him. With the red eyes and ancient name, I'm surprised it isn't obvious to everyone that he's half vampire.
I can't smell vampire in him at all so I'm guessing him and his brother wear scent blockers constantly. Scent blockers are made by witches and their purpose is obvious. They can alter or block your scent making hiding or running easier. They come in many different forms but the most common are jewelry and perfumes.
I open a link with him and start off with, "Hello, Silas." He remains extremely calm but glances around looking for me. "Who are you?" He askes. His voice is far deeper than you'd think given his feminine appearance. "I'm Seraphina Duval. My father wishes to meet you." I told him monotonously. Once he hears "Duval", he looks at my father but his eyes find me immediately after.
His smirk grows as he replies, "It's quite scary that you're in my head right now but I'll ignore it as of yet. I've already told my own father that I'm busy here and I'm not the type to leave a bunch of ladies over an old geezer." He pauses, looking directly into my eyes with a panty dropping grin on his face before saying, "but I'd be a fool to pass up on speaking to a goddess like you." Good thing he's not my type because if it were any other woman in this room, they'd pass away instantly.
"Yes, you'd be a fool." I replied with a smirk of my own and watch as he tries to leave the pool of women. There's a few who try to grab his arms and keep him there, clinging to him like monkeys, but all it takes is a glare from him and they let go. I have a feeling he's playful only until you question him.
Robert looks bewildered as he sees his son walking towards us with just a look from me (that's what it seemed like, at least). He's just glancing back and forth between the two of us as if we have two heads. I like Robert. He doesn't hide a single emotion; it all plays clearly on his face. It's not a very common quality in an alpha of a large territory. I appreciate his honesty, but don't tell my father or he'll pass away from anger.
"Hello Mr. Duval, I'm Silas Woods. I was told you'd wanted to speak with me." Silas said as soon as he was close enough. He stuck out his right hand to my father, but of course he refused to take it.
"Nice of you to take time out of your..." father said as he glanced at the group of females staring pitifully at Silas' back. "...busy schedule to speak to us boy. This is my son, Axel, and my daughter, Seraphina." He gestured to both of us with his head before continuing, "And this is my Luna." He said proudly, tightening his grip on my mothers waist.
"It's nice to meet you, Seraphina." Silas said, completely ignoring the others while he stuck his hand out to me. I accepted his gesture, politely shaking his hand before trying to disconnect them only to find that I couldn't. His grip didn't hurt but I couldn't pull my hand from his and he was just watching me struggle with a stupid grin. "Ouch!" He said, letting go of my hand while I giggled.
"Did you just shock me?" He asked in utter disbelief that I would do so.
"Yes, did it hurt?" I replied without looking at him. I was trying to hold back my laughter.
"Hell yea it hurt! What kinda..." Silas didn't get to finish his angry rant because, once again, Robert had bust out laughing along with Axel.
After such a scene, the mood was lighter and all of us had a normal conversation. Father and mother even threw a few words in, though they weren't the always the nicest.
The conversation flowed naturally and Axel and Silas got along well with each other. We spoke about things ranging from pack matters to how many chefs we have in our kitchen. I learned that their "rivalry" was one sided and stemmed from jealousy on my parents side. It seemed that Robert didn't have a problem with us at all; that or he was really good at hiding animosity.
"Silas is entering Academy this year. Aren't you as well, Seraphina?" Robert asked.
"I am." I replied simply. Academy is where sups from all different packs and places come together. It refers to Star-Crossed Academy. The school is run by Star-Crossed Pack, an all inclusive pack that preaches about sups sticking together as it was mainly humans that caused problems for us in the past. It's not that supernaturals hate humans, we just don't trust them. Attending Academy is not mandatory but if you want a higher level job in any supernatural setting then it becomes necessary. Academy teaches you how to control your supernatural half without dominating it.
If I was to push my wolf into complete submission, I'd be far weaker because strength for us sups comes from knowledge. From knowing that we are not animals, but also accepting we are not human.
We'd learn our history as well as the history of other supernaturals. For example, I'd be taught Lycan and wolf history, as well as witches and warlocks and vampires history. They also teach you how to fight. They have many instructors and trainers to help develop a fight style geared towards your strengths and weaknesses. I have a feeling they can't teach me anything in that department.
Also, if you're lucky enough to have an affinity, they will help you achieve enlightenment so you may level up the amount of power you can control. As I said, our power stems from understanding. We have to know where our affinities come from and what makes them. There are ten levels in all and each level gets increasingly harder.
"Axel, you should be finishing up your second year, yes?" Robert asked. He was good at keeping conversation.
"Yes, I'll be taking end of year exams a few days before Sera takes her entrance exams."
"Then you should know my oldest, or at least heard of him." Robert stated. "His name is Draven Micheal Woods."
I watched as Axel's face took on a surprised expression before he replied, "I've never met him unfortunately, but I've definitely heard of him. He doesn't attend classes much but he's been top of the class since I started there."
"Yes, that's him. That rascal is smart as hell but hates school. Tsk." Robert said. Although it sounded as if he were scolding his eldest son, his face showed nothing but adoration. I couldn't help but envy these brothers. Their parents love them a lot.
I turned my attention back to Axel after I got over my self pity. I wanted to make sure he was okay. He had masked it well with surprise, but this is one emotion I could spot anywhere. I can smell it. Hidden deep in his eyes, coated in false surprise and realization... was fear. My big, strong brother with level 6 fire affinity, is scared of Draven Woods.
