Chapter 33

Alex felt uneasy after their meeting. He feels like he caused trouble for Vera and she might hate him more because of it. All he wanted was to get along with everyone. He's already under a lot of stress with his personal life, he would like to have his internship to be as peaceful as it can be. Then again the boss is the Alpha he is bonded with so the work stuff somehow turns personal as well. Most especially if the said Alpha is being too overprotective of him, though he was thankful he sent someone to help him earlier but with all the gossip going around the office with the mysterious person the Alpha was with this morning, it won't take long until people figure out that it was him. However, despite all that's happening, his heart flutters and he feels special with the way Keith is treating him.

"Where do you usually have your lunch?" Chloe asked, drawing Alex out of his reverie.

"Ahmm just the cafeteria. I normally eat with my best friend." Alex replied, he subtly glanced Vera's way in case the Beta woman would get mad at them for talking about something non work related, but Vera ignored him.

"Is he working here? Or was it a she?" Chloe asked curiously.

"It's a he. His name is Dan, he's also an intern and an Omega like me." Alex replied before Chloe could ask for a follow up question. Chloe is nice and accommodating but a bit of a chatterbox.

"Hey Alex, the president asked you to come to his office to discuss your internship." Dana called out, interrupting their talk. Alex glances again towards Vera's direction to see if the woman would say something but he still gets no reaction. He doesn't know if he's happy the Beta woman is not throwing him insults or scolding him but being completely ignored doesn't sit well with him as well.

Alex knocked three times before opening the door. Keith stood up from his chair and went to the couch instead, as he didn't want to talk to Alex while the Omega was standing. He gestures for Alex to follow him. He was only meant to have the Omega sat on the couch but he was surprised when the Omega suddenly sat on his lap instead. Just like this morning, Alex settled his face on the nook of his neck. The Omega must have really loved the scent on his neck.

"Alex are you okay?" Keith asked curiously. The way the Omega is behaving seems like something is bothering him.

"It's your fault." Alex replied, pouting.

Keith inhaled sharply, feeling Alex's breathing on his neck is threatening his self control. He wondered how eunuchs and monks managed to maintain their celibacy, because he swore he could ask them for tips right now on how to survive it. He plans to take things slow as he promised but Alex's actions are throwing him off his game. If his friends know about this, they would tease him endlessly, especially Chad. "Why is it my fault?" Keith asked, after finally regaining his composure that he almost lost a second ago.

"It's because you picked me up this morning and you took the employee elevator with me that people are talking about me, though they don't know it's me. I don't know if I'm making sense now. Also you sent your bodyguards to help me carry the supplies, my colleagues might think you're favoring me too much and they might find out that it was me you were with this morning. And what's with this I'm not allowed to help in printing documents and making copies?" Alex replied, almost running out of breath. He sat up straight and is staring at Keith's face which he regretted immediately as the Alpha's stare is making him feel hot. Maybe he should sit on the couch instead, he hated himself for instinctively sitting on the Alpha's lap. He was feeling uneasy when he came in and somehow he remembered how good it felt this morning when he sat on Keith's lap that he went and did it again to make himself feel better. He did feel better but right now he's feeling embarrassed.

"What's wrong with my bodyguards helping you? I don't want you to carry heavy things and the radiation from the printer and the photocopying machine is bad for the health. I'm just worried for you. Is that wrong?" Keith replied, giving Alex a kiss on the top of his head.

Alex cannot counter the Alpha's argument immediately, the man is just worried for him and he cannot find fault in that. "But still, you are the president and I'm just an intern." Alex replied as he casually tried to get off Keith's lap but the Alpha didn't allow him. He sighed, it was his fault anyway for initiating sitting on the Alpha's lap. "Tone it down a bit okay. I don't want to cause trouble to anyone."

"Hmmm, okay." Keith replied as he pulled Alex closer and lay the Omega's head on his shoulders.

"Don't pick me up in the morning as well." Alex continued. "No riding the employees lift with me again."

"I can't do that. I want to make sure you come to work early." Keith argued.

"I don't want people to talk about me or us." Alex replied worriedly. He doesn't want to cause trouble for Keith and he doesn't like people talking about him.

"Then I'll assign two to three bodyguards for you, so they will pick you up in the morning then I'll take you home after work." Keith said giving Alex another option.

"Bodyguard? No! That's too much." Alex declined vigorously.

"You're my Omega, we're bonded together. You'll have your own bodyguards in the future anyway. All members of the family have." Keith replied matter of factly though he immediately regretted it when he saw Alex eyes open wide in surprise. "So much for taking things slow." He said castigating himself in his head. "Okay, okay no bodyguards. I will still pick you up, but I will let you take the normal elevator and I will take my personal one. Is that okay?" Keith tried to pacify the perplexed Omega. "Anyway, I ordered lunch for you, you can ask your friend to eat with you at the pantry. I will be having a lunch meeting so I won't be able to eat with you. If you're craving for anything let me know okay?" Keith said, changing the subject before the Omega gets agitated again. He gave Alex another kiss on his forehead this time. He wanted to kiss his inviting lips but he's afraid he won't be able to stop himself with just a kiss.

Alex sighed, resigned with his fate, not sure until when he can reject the changes Keith is doing with his life. Somehow he feels like they are still rushing and not taking things slow like they agreed to. Though he can't fully put all the blame on Keith. In fact he was far too forward than the Alpha because he just sat on Keith's lap without being forced or urged to do so.

It's almost just half a day and only his second day at this office and he is already exhausted. If only he could just stay here and sleep. Forget about the people talking about him and forget about Vera hating him so much. If only he could do that.
