Duncan lounged on his chair as she stared at him in confusion. She wondered about the reason why he laughed and the funny word she articulated. She didn't say anything funny. And here Sierra thought Duncan was crazy for a moment. She turned her attention to the window looking at the street while thinking of a way to embarrass him and make him swallow his laughter. A sigh came from her mouth as her head burrowed deeper into her shoulders.

The streets were empty, almost dead. She wondered how her father was at work; she had never visited him when he was working. She considered the idea and soon brushed it away like it was nothing. They only had each other but they forced themselves to be apart; it was as if he felt the same way, to not be attached deeply to not cause grief after death.

Thankfully, he spoke again pulling her from the dark thoughts that menaced to invade again. "So what were you thinking? I thought you were searching for a way to send mud to my face."
