The father's death

Duncan stared at the Grave Grim but in the end, the idea that crossed his mind faded. He didn't want her to be accompanied by the Grave Grim through the shadows, he wanted to take her there himself. It wasn't a big deal for him. He would simply jump high and in the end, he would reach her house. It might take a longer time but it was fine.

"Alright, let's go!" he lifted her in his arms.

"Huh?" she flushed at the new position. The last time someone lifted her bridal style was when she wanted to go to bed and that was when she was a child. "I can walk you know."

"Yes, you can but you will take a whole day if you follow your pace," he knit his brows tightly. "For now, I will take you there. Unfortunately, there is no carriage that would take you to the city and I believe you don't want to attract the eyes on you."
