Chapter 2 - Destined Sisters

I stop at a river and sit under the shade of a tree. I don't really want to stop here of all places but we all need to rest. Traveling at night time is never a good idea, especially if packs class you as a rogue.

"So destined sisters... There's one other thing... just like Lycons, they live for eternity. Well, they live for however long the Lycon lives. If I were to die, you and Niyah would die along with me. However, if you were to die... I would be fine. A part of me would be ripped away, yes, but I would still keep on living. Which I think is truly unfair. I think that is why us Lycons are so protective and possessive over our destined sister, or in my case destined sisters" I continue to explain. I then stand and stretch before stepping into the river and catching some fish for us to eat.

"So let me summarise this for myself" Mia finally speaks up and I look up and nod to her to show I am listening.

"We are your destined sisters. Sisters that are not bound by blood but by our souls. A Lycon finds their destined sister when she is hurt or is in dire need of help. If we die you lose a part of yourself but if you die we die alongside you" Mia summarises. I nod and smirk as Niyah says

"Yeah, go on, shout or cry or scream. Do whatever. It's what I did when she explained it all to me. I even punched into her".

"Hey, you were letting your emotions out. I wasn't going to stop you" I say as I carry all the fish over to Niyah and drop them in her lap. She looks down and starts to skin them. I'm so not skinning... well de-scaling them.

"You seem to be taking this well" James breaks the silence.

"Diana saved my life. If she hadn't come when she did I would have been raped. I could have been killed. I really don't care about the whole dying part. I know she will protect me so I have no worries about it. And plus anyone can die at any time" Mia explains and I smile while I help her start up a fire so we can cook the fish. I mean we could eat them raw but cooking them is way better.

"So how did you all meet?" Mia asks making Niyah tense. As soon as Mia sees this she starts to panic.

"I'm sorry you don't have to tell me if you don't want to. it's really up to you" Mia rushes out making me smile over at her.

"No, it's alright. It was a long time ago now. I was walking home from my job at the bakery that was beside my pack's border. Any other day it is quiet and peaceful. But that day became my worse nightmare. I was always told to keep to the stone path. To never stray out into the forest at that time of night. So I did as I was told at stuck to the stone path. I was only two blocks from home when a group of warriors came stumbling out of the forest. I could tell they had been drinking. They reeked of alcohol. I tried to hurry on my way but they saw me and dragged me into the forest. They then tried to rape me. The only reason why they didn't is because I fought them and shifted into my wolf and tried to run. However, they caught me and beat me until I was on the brink of death. I would have died if Diana hadn't found me, I'm sure I would have. She nursed me back to health. When I was back to my full health the bond kicked in and she realised who I was to her. She explained to me what a destined sister was and I panicked. I punched her and cried but she let me. After I calmed down we returned to my pack but I was too afraid to face them so I became a rouge and followed Diana around. Truthfully these years with her have been the best five years of my life" Niyah tells her story before chuckling at me as I growl remembering how I found her.

"And there is her protective side, showing," Niyah says chuckling. I roll my eyes at her.

"I'm not that protective all the time Niyah," I say to her.

"Whatever you say Di, whatever you say," Niyah says back making me shake my head smiling. "So how did you join them, James?" Mia asks turning to face him.

"I joined these two four and a half years ago now. I was already a rouge though. I was trying to take on five rouges who had just taken my meal from me when both of them jumped out of the brush and took them down. I realised Niyah was my mate so I joined them and have been with them ever since" James explains and I smile remembering little old him.

"I don't mean to be rude but how old are you Mia?" Niyah asks and my eyes widen. I totally forgot to ask her that when we met.

"I'm eighteen. What about all of you? how old are you three?" she asks and I smile.

"I'm nineteen, Niyah is eighteen like you and James is 20" I explain as Niyah pouts.

"That means you were working when you were thirteen," Mia says shocked.

"My old pack was the Gold Moon pack. They didn't get the gold in their name for nothing. All the alpha cared and probably still cares about is money. So pack members had to start working at the age of twelve. Whether we wanted to or not. If we didn't we would either be sent to the dungeons or kicked out of the pack. Alpha Indigo is a money-loving fool" Niyah growls out. James smirks over at me as I grumble out about the pack being inhumane. He throws two fish over at me and I catch them with ease. He does the same to Niyah and Mia and keeps the last two for himself. I eat my food quickly before wiping my mouth and putting the fire out. We do not want to attract any more attention. Especially where we are right now. So close to Crystal Pack borders. I look up at the sky to see it darkening.

"We better climb up the trees. We are near the Crystal Pack border... The pack that killed my parents" James says. I smile sadly at him before standing and helping Mia up. Niyah climbs into James' lap and calms him down as I help Mia into a tree. I then climb in after her making sure I don't leave any tracks that would give away that we are hiding in the trees. Soon enough Niyah and James climb into the tree beside ours after covering where the fire once was.

"Why do we have to climb the trees?" Mia asks. I keep forgetting she has only been a rouge for a short amount of time.

"The Crystal Pack warriors like to go on a killing spree at night around their pack borders. The only way we can get away from them is to hide in the trees. The smell of so many leaves confuses them and hides our scents" I whisper to her before looking in the direction of the pack when I hear the alpha howl.

"It's starting" I whisper. before I lay back on a branch and try to get some sleep.

I wake early morning with a smile on my face. It's the best sleep I've had in a while. Only when I look at Niyah, James, and Mia's faces does my smile drop from my face. All three have worried looks on their face.

"What? What happened?" I ask them now getting worried myself.

"It wasn't just the Crystal Pack wolves last night. It was the Dark Hallow Pack wolves as well" James explains. I frown. Why is another pack joining in with them? Why are they hunting rogues that have done nothing wrong?

"So why do you all look so worried? Nothing has happened to us" I ask them.

"Because it wasn't just the warrior of the Dark Hallow Pack. It was the Alpha of that pack as well. He stopped underneath your tree and sniffed around it for hours. Somehow he knew someone was up there. But since he was in his wolf form he couldn't climb up. But then why didn't he shift and climb up in his human form. It makes no sense to me at all" Niyah explains further and I frown. That doesn't make sense at all.

"It's not just that. I didn't think anything of it... but when I was still in my pack. Before I got kicked out my ex-alpha called a pack meeting. He put the whole town on lockdown from nine at night until 10 in the morning. He said it was because members from other packs have been going missing and that Dark Hallow Pack are behind it. He also said it was because of their new alpha. That the alpha title was passed down to the son of the previous alpha. His name is supposedly Alpha Jaxon Martino. And ever since he's been alpha bad stuff has been happening. Rouges that have taken one step into his territory have been turning up dead. People from other packs have been going missing. Apparently, Dark Hallow Pack is now the deadliest and strongest in the whole country never mind the whole world" Mia explains further and I frown before smirking. I climb down the tree and help Mia down as Niyah and James climb down from theirs. "That's what they want you to believe. But they aren't. They are far from those titles. My pack is the strongest and deadliest of them all. The Ghost Pack. Don't worry you will meet them soon enough. Actually, we should start to head back to the camp and start to come up with a strategy" I say before we all make our way to the left of the Crystal Pack borders.

I don't realise until it's too late. We are suddenly surrounded by Dark Hallow Pack warriors.

"I knew there were rogues up in those trees. Clever ones" I hear a silky voice to the right which sends shivers down my spine. However, I manage to hide them. I sniff and my nostrils instantly fill with the scents of chocolate and fresh rain. My two favourite smells. Which can only mean one thing, He's my mate. I look towards the man the scent is coming from and see he was the one who was talking. And he's also the alpha. Such a good time to find my mate (Note the sarcasm). I meet his eyes and stare at him but his eyes don't hold any sense of longing.

-Mate- my wolf says in my head. Why doesn't he long for me? Isn't a male supposed to go crazy when they find their mate?

"Kill the ones behind the female leader," Jaxon says and I growl pushing Mia behind me and Niyah and James take my sides and back. I glare and pounce on a warrior that gets to close to attacking Mia. I injure him enough so he is knocked out but not enough to kill him or permanently damage him. What? I'm not stupid. I have no reason to kill any member of the Dark Hallow pack... yet. Plus I really don't want to start a war with the pack. Especially since the alpha just so happens to be my mate. Which is just great! (Another sarcasm).

By the time we are finished, I have a couple of cuts and bruises but Mia has been left untouched and we have knocked all the warriors out leaving them with a few cuts and bruises but nothing life-threatening. I sigh and face Jaxon once again. I'm pissed beyond relief now. How dare he attack my betas and new pack member.

"You even dare to try to attack one of my friends again and I will end you mate or not" I growl over to him before I turn and run into the forest. I shift ripping the clothes I have on but at this moment in time, I don't care. I probably will later but right now all I care for is the fact my mate doesn't want me and that he tried to kill my pack members. I hear more than see Niyah, James, and Mia following me.

-Are you okay?- They all ask me through our mind link. I'm guessing they can feel my hurt, anger, and longing through our bond.

-He's my mate and he didn't even care- I whimper through our bond before shutting it off and continuing to run.

-Why doesn't our mate want us Diana?- my wolf asks me and I can feel her breaking inside of me.

-I don't know, I wish I knew Gia. I really wish I knew why he doesn't want us- I answer back before focusing back on running as my wolf pushes herself further back in my mind.
