Chapter 14 - Turning a werewolf

Diana's POV

I sit in one of the many chairs in Jaxon's office, nervously tapping my leg. It's been several hours, and they still haven't arrived. They should have arrived by now, and in all honesty, it is starting to worry me. Just as I'm about to go out to track down my pack, I feel my pack link open up.

-Diana, we are here. Everyone is safe- Niyah's voice filters into my head, causing me to sigh in relief. Thank the goddess that they all made it here safe. I stand and look towards Eros and Kylian to see them sitting tapping their legs. They are both worried about the pack as well.

"Guys, the pack is okay. Niyah linked me to tell me everyone is here and safe," I say, directing their attention to me. They both seemed too relieved to say a word for a few minutes.

"Really?" Kylian asks, making me frown. Would I joke about something like this? I nod, confirming that what I said is true. I smile when they both run out the door to greet the pack. I shake my head with a slight chuckle before looking towards Jaxon. I stay silent as I watch his eyes go from misty back to clear. Someone was mind-linking him.

"Your pack-" he tries to say, but I cut him off. "I know, Niyah linked with me," I say with a smirk on my face. Jaxon nods towards me before glancing over to the chairs, which now lie empty. Eros and Kylian once sat in those chairs. I watch as his eyebrows scrunch up in confusion. Cute.

"They went to greet the pack," I explain to him before walking to the window in the office. I look out to see my pack slowly walking into the clearing that holds Jaxon's packhouse. I smile slightly.

"Well, let's go," Jaxon speaks up into the quiet room. I jump slightly, not expecting him to talk. I turn to look at Jaxon. Now, it's my turn to be confused.

"Go where?" I ask him while tilting my head.

"To greet your pack. I'm sure your pack has been worried about your whereabouts," Jaxon says. I smile and follow him outside. As soon as my pack sees me, they charge towards me, ignoring another Alpha. They each take turns cuddling me and basking in my scent. I smile and hug each of them back.

"I'm alright, but listen to me. I have some bad news and some slightly better news," I call out. In turn, all my pack goes quiet. I turn to Jaxon, who looks down at me with an eyebrow raised.

"Jaxon, call your pack out. They deserve to know as well," I say to him. He nods seconds before his eyes mist over. Seconds after his eyes return to normal, his pack stroll towards us.

"All right, Dark Hallow Pack. Be quiet and listen up because this involves us," Jaxon commands his pack. I smile at Jaxon before clearing my throat.

"Early this morning, when I was returning home with my pack, we found my pack lands had been ransacked and torn apart. We will be staying here for the time being. If they found out about the location of our packhouse, they will have figured out about here," I explain, loud enough for both packs to hear me.

"What has this got to do with us? And why was your packhouse ransacked?" one of Jaxon's pack members asks. I glare over at the guy.

"If you would have waited instead of interrupting me, then you would know by now... Anyways. What I am about to tell you, Dark Hallow is top secret. No one outside of this pack must know for both packs' safety. I'm the last female lycon. That is why my packhouse was ransacked and completely torn apart. It affects you because your alpha is my mate. I sure as hell won't let anyone hurt this pack because of it. Now, Ghost Pack, I know you are all cautious about staying with another pack, but we have to make do for the time being," I explain. I notice all of my pack nod their heads. I clutch my head when my vision suddenly goes black, and I get a headache.

"Diana," I hear Jaxon's voice calling out to me, but it sounds far off.

-I'm sorry, Dino. But I need to talk to you- I hear as my dad suddenly appears in the darkness of my mind.

-Daddy, what is it?- I ask back into my mind.

-Once both packs unite and become one, evil will come and try to tear you two apart,- my father explains. It confuses me. I thought he wanted me to be with my mate, but now he is saying that evil will come and try to tear us apart if the pack becomes one.

-Wait! What evil?- I ask him, totally confused by all of this.

-That I cannot tell you. You will have to figure it out for yourself. The traitor is someone close to Dark Hallow Pack's heart- my dad explains to me. That didn't help at all.

- That doesn't make any sense. How the hell am I meant to figure out who the traitor out when you've just literally given me a riddle. I've never been good at those types of things- I tell him. My father smiles kindly over at me.

-Remember who you are, Diana, and what I taught you as a pup- my father says before he leaves. I frown, not understanding a single thing he just said. How are the lessons I learned when I was a child going to help me find out who a traitor is? The headache pressing at my temples finally stops just before I can see again. Only to find myself lying on the grass with Jaxon and both packs surrounding me.

"What happened, DiDi?" James asks as I sit up.

"My father happened," I say, frowning. The warning he sent me continues to play on repeat in my mind.

"Your dad? What about him?" Jaxon asks, looking anxious.

"He came to me. Said once the packs unite and become one, evil will come and that the traitor is someone close to Dark Halllow's heart," I explain, looking directly into Jaxon's eyes. He seems shocked but doesn't question me. I lean against Jaxon as he helps me up onto my own two feet.

"You're tired," he speaks up, making me roll my eyes. It's just after I roll my eyes that I remember he doesn't know about me having powers.

"It happens. It seems I've learned another one of a lycon's powers," I explain. Jaxon nods in understanding before speaking up. "Let's get you to your room and get all of your pack members settled into theirs. You take a nap. I will wake you when it is time for tea," Jaxon says as he starts to walk in the direction of the doors to the packhouse. I smile, nodding my head, letting him lead the way inside the packhouse. I groan when I see the stairs. I'm too tired to climb those stairs. I hear Jaxon chuckle softly, but he stops as soon as I glare at him. I let him lead me up to the top floor of the packhouse, making me scowl. I'm starting to hate stairs. Jaxon stops in front of a door, which has me frowning. He better not be taking me to his bedroom. I will kick him into the next century if he is.

"Okay, here we are. The alpha floor. Room 2 on the alpha floor if you want to go into the tiny details," Jaxon says as he opens the door. I quickly scent the room to find it isn't Jaxon's room. It smells like a spare room.

"Door to the left is the bathroom. The door next to that is the closet. I'm down the hall with the double doors if you need me. Niyah and Mia are across the hallway since they said they wouldn't settle anywhere else. Eros and Kylian are the next floor down, with the rest of your pack dotted in several guest rooms," Jaxon explains. Before I can even thank him, he walks out the door and closes it behind me. Thankful for the silence, I slump onto the bed, fully clothed, and drift off into a peaceful sleep.

I'm woken by two bodies jumping onto me and two others laughing. I groan and push the two bodies off of me. I don't even have to open my eyes to know who jumped on me.

"What do you want?" I ask them in a mumble before curling back into a ball, my eyes still closed.

"Come on. It's time for tea. Everyone is waiting for you to come down," Mia says. I grumble, "I'm not hungry," before turning around, my body facing away from them. I try to go back to sleep, but it seems the moon goddess is against me today.

"Fine, since your not hungry, I guess I will have your potion of the tuna pasta bake that Claudia made," James speaks up. Did he just say Claudia made tuna pasta bake? I'm instantly climbing out of bed and glaring over at James.

"Alright. Alright, I'm up. I'm up. Don't you dare try and steal tuna pasta bake from me," I growl out at the four. The four are Mia, Niyah, James, and Nathaniel. They all chuckle before following me out of the door. I sniff the air and follow the smell of food down several sets of stairs. I stop on the bottom floor and turn right, so I'm looking at a pair of massive doors that must lead into the dining room. I notice my pack waiting outside them, making me frown.

"Hey! What are you all doing outside? Why didn't you all go in?" I ask them. They all turn to face me. Eros and Kylian walk towards me. I pout and hold my arms up towards Eros, who sighs and rolls his eyes before turning around and crouching down. I smile and quickly climb onto his back. He stands up straight before saying, "You are such a kid at times, DiDi." I roll my eyes at him.

"No one answered my question," I remind my pack.

"We were scared. We wanted to go in with you," Simone says. I smile and nod.

"All righty then, since I am here, let's go in. Giddy up, Ros," I say while kicking Eros' sides. He growls softly at me. Whether that's because of me kicking him or the nickname, I have no clue. His growl coming to an end, he walks forward. Kylian opens the door allowing for Eros to enter first. The whole room goes instantly quiet. I peak over Eros' shoulder to see everyone staring.

"These guys seriously have a staring problem," I whisper under my breath, but my pack hears me and giggle.

"Mia, Niyah. I thought you said you were going to wake up Diana," I hear Jaxon's voice as he walks towards us.

"They did. You let those two wake me up. You don't know them enough. Mia's and Niyah's wake-up calls are painful. Also, I'm back here," I say, holding my hands up above Eros' head so he can see them.

"What do you mean painful? And why are you on Eros' back?" Jaxon then asks, sounding extremely confused.

-Eros, can you turn sideways so I can see him- I link with Eros, who I hear grumble slightly. I smirk at his annoyance.

-Why don't you just get down and walk in front then?- he asks me through the link, making me smirk turn into a frown.

"Fine moody pants," I say as I drop down so I'm standing on my own two feet and walking so I am in front.

"It's called a piggyback Jaxon, and I'm tired. Eros got himself into this mess three years ago, so..." I trail off.

"I so did not get myself into this mess. You were cheating," Eros says with a hint of annoyance in his tone, making me smirk.

"I didn't cheat. I simply practiced," I say, not bothering to look over at Eros.

"Bull s***!" Eros calls out, getting more frustrated.

"Yeah, that tends to come from bulls," I answer back sarcastically. Eros growls before flipping me over and onto my back. I groan, looking up at him from the floor.

"You do realise you have a fitness session with me tonight. I will have you doing suicide drills" Eros then says before storming over to a free table and sitting down. I giggle and shake my head.

"Are you okay?" Jaxon asks while helping me up off the ground. I smile at him before frowning when I remember that Eros is right about the fitness session. Oh goddess, no. Not suicide drills. Suicide drills are the worst of the running drills. The only difference is you have to keep running until you drop to the floor from exhaustion.

"Ros! Noooo," I shout, unable to stop myself.

"Yes<" he replies simply.

"No, please. I'm sorry" I say, pouting and giving him my puppy dog eyes when he looks over at me.

"YOu know those don't work on me," he says as he turns back around. I growl and take a seat in between him and Niyah.

"Pathetic" I suddenly hear. My eyes travel to Jaxon's table, to see a girl glaring over at us.

"Excuse me, what did you just say?" I ask in a growl. I quickly smell for her scent, wanting to know what status she has in Jaxon's pack.

-Gamma Female- Gia answers me before I can pick up her scent.

"You heard me. You are pathetic. You are acting like a child. Rogues in our territory. Things have changed since Jaxon's father" she says. I stand to my feet and go to attack her but Eros and Kylian hold me back.

"They aren't rogues to me. They are my family. And I'm glad things have changed. This pack tortured me and my family. My mate's father raped my mother and forced me to watch as he did it. He tortured me until I was a mess. He then killed both my parents in front of me. You call me pathetic. What are you for saying things like that?" I ask her in a growl. The girl looks at me shocked as I stare at her in anger.

"I didn't know," she says, causing me to roll my eyes.

"I don't care. I changed my mind, I'm going out to eat" I say as I turn to Jaxon. He nods, looking about ready to kill his Gamma Female. I shift into my wolf and run out of the packhouse and into the forest.

I lie in the shade of a tree as my pack relaxes.

"How long do you think it will take for Jaxon to come and find you?" Eros asks, out of the blue. I shrug my shoulders.

"Quite frankly, at the moment I don't care. I need to focus on keeping both packs safe" I reply as I lean against the trunk of the tree.

"You will need to notice the bond sooner rather than later. If you keep ignoring it, the moon goddess will force you into it... you know what happened with me" Simone says as she smiles up at Jeremy, one of my pack's scouts and Simone's mate. I smile remembering how they met and what happened when they tried to ignore the mate bond.

"I know. I just have better things to think about right now" I answer, truthfully. I then look towards the edge of the clearing we are in to see Jaxon, in his wolf form, walking into the clearing. I smile and quickly shift into my wolf form. I shake out my fur. I hesitantly take several steps towards him. As if sensing what I am trying to do, he stops and allows me to approach at my own speed. When I get close to him I rub my fur against him. I smirk as he purs. I rub up against him again but this time I nip his ear and then trip him before lying on him fully. He growls playfully before turning so I fall off of him.

-Please, Diana. Let me and Flint mate- Gia suddenly asks me. I sigh and pull back allowing Gia control of our body.

-Okay, but take us somewhere that is hidden from everyone- I link back to her. I feel her acceptance through our bond before she initiates the mating process and runs off into the woods. Flint, Jaxon's wolf, gives chase. It seems Jaxon is finally allowing flint to control the body fully for once. I smirk before linking with Niyah as she links me. -Where are you two going?- I smirk at her question.

-Gia and Flint want to mate, so I let her- I tell Niyah before traveling further back into my mind. I wait patiently for my control back. I feel the pain as Flint marks Gia.

(AN: Just want to say that in this story both pairs must mark and full mate for them to be one and for both packs to blend into one)

I wince as Jaxon forces his way into my mind.

-Hey, Diana- he links me, making me roll my eyes

-You, mister, are extremely stupid- I link back before I close my eyes and drift off into sleep.

When I wake, I'm back in human form, naked. I find myself curled against Jaxon who is also in his birthday suit. I hear him groan and instantly pull away, sitting up and covering my private parts. Why did Gia have to shift us back to our human form?

"Ummm," I say looking around at the cave walls. I hear a chuckle and my eyes land back on Jaxon's.

"Don't laugh at me" I tell him while pouting and turning away. I then notice the sky. Early morning.

"Oh s***!" I say at almost a yell.

"What? What is it?" Jaxon says, sitting up beside me. He is certainly comfortable being naked.

"I missed my fitness session with Eros, he is going to kill me," I explain. I go to stand up but Jaxon grabs my wrist and tugs me back down.

"Hey, I need-" I start to say but he cuts me off. "To go... Yeah, I know. But first, mark me. I don't want to be alone. You let your wolf mark Flint and vice versa. So why won't you let me mark you and vice versa?" Jaxon asks. I sigh and close my eyes. I didn't want to have to tell him this. It has been the one thing I have always dreaded.

"Female lycons turn werewolves with bite. We do that because of the venom in our teeth. If I mark you, the venom will go into your bloodstream and you will transform. It's painful. There is also a chance you will die if you aren't strong enough" I explain, trying to talk him out of this.

"It's my choice. And I want you to do it, okay? The moon goddess put us together so don't think I was meant to transform into a lycon. She put us together so I must be strong enough" he says and I sigh.

"I won't be able to change your mind, will I?" I ask him and he shakes his head. Tears fill my eyes but I push them down.

"Alright, just before I do I need to tell you that I love you. Because I do. I've hidden it for so long because I was afraid of losing you. Everyone that I love ends up dying. But I'm not afraid anymore and that's all thanks to you. I love you Jaxon, I really do" I say before moving my head to the side to show my bare neck.

"You already know that I love you, Diana, and I always will," he says before pulling me onto his lap and biting my neck marking me as his. I hiss at the pain before moaning as the pain changes to pleasure. He pulls his fangs out and licks the wound seeling it up. I then pull away and look into his eyes.

"Are you sure about this?" I ask him. I chew on my lip, anxiously.

"I'm sure. Just do it," He says while moving his head to the side so I can mark him. I take a deep breath before leaning into his neck. I let my fangs grow. Closing my eyes, I mark him before I can back out of it. I pull my fangs out and lick the wound trying to seal it but it won't close. The venom is in his bloodstream, so the wound won't close until it kills him or turns him. I put pressure on the wound and wince as Jaxon screams in agony. I sob as I put both hands over the wound, trying to stop the bleeding.

"Diana," I hear James calling me, making me look at the entrance to the cave.

"In here!" I yell. I hear several footsteps running towards me before James, Nathaniel, Kylian, Eros, Niyah, and Mia run into the cave.

"Please, help me," I say almost begging at this point as they stop looking from me to Jaxon. They all break into action.

"You marked him?" Niyah asks me. I nod before sobbing as I'm pulled away as Nathaniel takes my place, covering the wound.

"I shouldn't have. Now I'm going to lose him. I can't lose him, I can't. I love him. I do. I truly do love him" I say starting to panic.

"Hey. Hey! Snap out of it, alright. He's strong. He is going to make it" Niyah says, snapping me out of my panic.

"We need to get him to the pack hospital," Eros says. I nod and follow them out of the cave. We all then run directly to the hospital part of the packhouse. I look down at my hands as I run to see them covered in blood. My mate's blood.

*Please stay with me, Jaxon* I think to myself as I continue to run.
