The Roommate: 2

Grumble— louder grumbling. ~Guess it's time to check out the campus cafeteria~. Claire stretched her legs from top her bed and the. Climbed down the mini ladder. She grabbed her phone off the charger, put her ID into her wallet and then the ring wallet into her backpack. Turning off the lights she made her way out her door, making sure it locked shut when it closed and made for the stairs to the main level.

Claire knew she wouldn't be cooking in her room, no supplies or appliances, so she figured the smart plan was to get a decent meal package and conserve for the semester. For snacks and other supplies she planned to find her way to the nearest dollar store. ~Back pack hopefully you can fit whatever I find~. Making a mental check list for cheap snacks, milk, cereal, toiletries, and laundry detergent. Simple and concise. The only way to stay on budget.

The cafeteria was the round building in the center of campus and after she used a badge swipe the buffet before her made her stomach ache all over. She'd never had this many options or this much food available to her. She stood in line for the grill, not remembering the last time she had a cheeseburger or French fries. When it was her turn she got the fixings, took her plate of mouth watering food, stopped for a fountain Coke and found a small table to sit alone at and eat. Saying a silent thank you she took her first bite and nearly moaned from how the food melted in her mouth.

"Brooke Crimmes! What are you doing on campus so early?" The preppy high pitched yelling normally wouldn't have even registered to her, but that in fact was the name of Claire's future roommate. Looking up while chewing her eyes settle on a thin, long haired brunette, wearing some of the most expensive clothes and shoes she'd ever seen. Everything about her screamed picture perfect from her flawless make-up to her matching Gucci bag. "Becca, you know Dom is being ridiculous making me live amongst... well you know, the whole humility lesson thing".

~Fuck me... no wonder she couldn't be bothered to answer me~. Watching her soon to be roommate settle in with a crowd of what mean girls educated her were called "the plastics". ~Hopefully she spends all her time with them, not pestering me~. Rolling her eyes, Claire finished her meal refusing to let her obvious differences from her roommate ruin her meal. After, she cleaned up her plate, put it in the collection space and as she turned to leave she came face to face with her roommate.

"You're Claire Smith." Brooke giving her the once over from head to toe, in her 4" heels she stood eye to eye with Claire who was 5'8" in her sneakers. Before she was able to get out a question she continued, "I don't care to know you. I have to live with you to get my parent's inheritance. So don't touch my stuff with your poor hands and keep to yourself when I'm around, got it". Her hands were on her hips while trying to look down her nose at Claire.

Claire shrugged her shoulders and just pushed past her. She knew people like her would get too much gratification out of making her feel like nothing, but Claire knew she was finally making herself into something. She wasn't about to let miss entitled take away from her self esteem today. "Did you get it, or are you stupid along with broke"? This time louder so that more of the cafeteria heard her. ~Welp, friends might be out with that first impression Cici~. She just kept on walking.

The information desk was conveniently around the corner from the cafe and showed that the local town in fact had a dollar store and it was within walking distance. Score! Grabbing the map for her reference if needed, she made her way down campus and into the locals area. The town was quiet. Single family homes, pretty yards, fences, etc. It was nice. After a couple blocks, the couple shops came into view including the dollar store. The bell rang as Claire stepped in, grabbing a small cart she browsed the aisles working on checking off her mental list of items she needed.

As she found the last of her items in the cleaning aisle she heard the bell go off again. Not paying attention to who was in the store with her, instead enjoying the music playing from her phone over her headphones. She unloaded her cart onto the check out counter, all the items should fit into her back pack minus the detergent but she could carry that. As the cashier checked her out she packed the items carefully into her pack so they'd all fit. Pulling her bank card out she paid the bill, exactly as she had expected it, she'd become very frugal over the years. Picking up her detergent after putting her wallet back, she smiled and thanked the clerk and headed for the door.

A tall man stood at the door holding it as if transfixed to the spot. Claire, completely oblivious nodded a thank you and passed by without so much as looking up at the man while humming along to the current playing song.

~Who the fuck is that~. "Hey Dom, we should get her these $5 shoes and mismatched T-shirt and pants. Hahaha... ugh she'd die!" Andre, his beta holding up the knock off converse all star sneakers. He barely heard him though, the moment that female had come out to the check out everything in him had stopped. She was tall for a female 5'8" without heels, her hair tied up in a pony tail but the natural highlights of her dirty blonde hair poking out. She wore cheap baggy cloths but they couldn't hide the obvious feminine curves of her hips and chest. When she housed her back pack and the detergent though her arms showed how lean she was, clearly not a weak female.

He'd wanted to see her eyes but she never actually looked at him, as if he was completely invisible to her. ~Her voice... it wasn't even her voice, she was just humming damnit~. He was getting more and more agitated from the lack of details he was able to get from their encounter. "Hey, earth to my man Dom, you good"? His beta now noticing his frozen state now cautiously looming around for the threat.

"She smelled like pine, pine and..." his mind was blanking on the rest of her scent profile. "Damnit"! Letting the door go he stalked over to the cashier. "She used a bank card, what was her name"? he demanded. The cashier never taking her eyes off the register fumbled with the thing to pull up the last transaction.

"Her... her name is Claire Smith, Alpha Dominick". The stutter from the younger people of his pack was customary and didn't phase him anymore.

"Drop what we're doing, we can tease Brooke later. You have a new job. Find this Claire Smith and get me everything on her, yesterday". His beta coming to his side.

"Well, I can tell you about her without having to do the digging, Brooke already made me do it all". Snapping his gaze to his beta from his thoughts.

"Go on..." motioning his beta to walk with him as they left the store.
