Meet Up With A Class Mate

*Next day*

After doing her training, she met up with Gai who told her news that shocked her.

"By the end of next week, we will double your weights. We will continue to do this until we start adding 50 pounds every month so your body doesn't get stunted and gets used to the weights."

She nodded before finishing up her training and going to get lunch.

Before getting lunch, Suki decided that she really needed a shower after training for 5 hours straight.

She now wore a blue sleeveless t-shirt with black pants with her kunai holster on her right leg and her wallet in her left pocket with enough change to but enough food for her to eat lunch and supper if she stayed out late for one reason or another.

"Now, what sounds good for lunch?"

So, with no destination in mind, she wandered through the village.

She had her hands in her pockets while looking around.

'Not in the mode for BBQ, considering I don't really like the sauce they use too much.' She thought. She then saw another restaurant. 'Cat Café. A restaurant that has a room of cats for kids to enjoy. Not for me.'

She sighed inwardly. 'I can't think of anywhere to eat.'

"Suki?" She heard.

She turned towards the direction it came from and found a young boy with red swirls on his cheeks eating handfuls of chips at a time.

Next to him was a young boy with black hair in a hairband with some spikes, a bored look in his eyes, clothes from the Nara clan, a kunai pouch, and black sandals.

"Shikamaru, right?" She asked.

"Yeah, and this is Choji." He introduced.

For one reason or another, Choji's family trained him until the beginning of this year.

'Likely to tell him about the unique trait his clan has with their chakra.' She thought.

The Akimichi clan is known to have large bodies even without their expansion jutsus but what only some clans in the Leaf knew was why they tend to always be large. The clan's trait allows them to store fat to be converted into chakra, similar to how fat could be used for energy if a person doesn't eat enough food.

"Hello Choji."

"So, why...weren't you...at the Academy today?" Choji asked, taking breaks to eat his chips.

Shikamaru lightly smacked the back of his head.

"Come on man! Haven't you heard?" He muttered quickly.

"Heard what?"

"I'll...see you two later." Suki told them before walking away.

They watched as she started walking away.

Shikamaru let out a deep sigh before turning to Choji.

--------------------------

She continued walking until she stopped outside a restaurant she was familiar with.

'Ichiraku.' She thought before moving the curtain and heading inside.

The inside was a small restaurant with a food bad with stools and a few tables on the sides with a few people eating.

She walked up and sat on one of the stools.

A young lady came out from the back.

"Ah, Suki-chan! Decided to drop by huh?" She looked around. "Where's Naruto?"

"Just me today, Ayame." Suki informed.

Ayame looked at her with an eyebrow raised.

"Really? You two didn't get in a fight did you?"

"No, not a fight. I just wanted to be alone for a bit."

"Alright. The usual?" Ayame asked.

Suki nodded.

As she went to the back, Suki placed a hand on her cheek.

'With the 2 weeks off, I have nothing to do. Sure, I could try to train more, but my body does still need rest to repair any damage done during training.' She thought. 'I could practice with my tanto more.'

She waited for about 5 minutes before she returned with her food.

"Here you go!" Ayame placed a bowl down in front of her.

She then left to take another person's order.

She broke apart some chopsticks.

"Itadakimasu." She muttered.

She then almost started eating, until someone sat down to her left.

"Hey Suki." Shikamaru greeted.

"Hey."

She returned to trying to eat her meal before she heard someone running.

She ate some of her food before someone charged through the curtains.

"Ramen!"

'So, to my left is probably someone with an IQ of a 16 year old, and the one behind me saw me through the mess that night.' She thought, continuing to eat.

Naruto looked around before seeing the back of Suki's head.

"Suki?"

He made his way over and sat on her right.

"Hey Suki."

"Hello Naruto."

An old man came from the back.

"Ah, Naruto. The usual?" Teuchi asked.

"Yeah! 3 bowls please."

"Only three? Are you on a diet?"

"No, I'm paying today and I don't want to spend all my allowance on ramen right now." Naruto explained.

He missed the stare from Shikamaru and Suki almost choking on her food from the statement.

She swung her head towards him and narrowed her eyes.

He did notice that.

"What?"

"What is wrong with you? You usually have 8 bowls minimum since that barely makes a dent in your allowance from Hokage-sama." Suki asked.

"8 bowls..." Shikamaru muttered.

"Yeah, well, I want to save up some money for something." He answered while rubbing the back of his neck.

Seeing that he likely didn't want to mention what he wanted, she turned back to her food and finished it, just as Naruto and Shikamaru's orders arrived.

"Hey Suki," Shikamaru started. "Do you know how to play Shogi?"

"Barely. I get the gist of what the game is and how the pieces move and get promoted, but not much else besides that." She told.

Shogi, turns out, to be a slightly more complex game than chess. One thing that really complicated the game is that, for your turn, you can place any piece you've captured anywhere except the pawns. There can't be more than one pawn in a column.

"That's fine. My dad wanted to start teaching me soon. Maybe we could play a game?"

Suki side glanced at him slightly. 'That seems slightly out of character. Then again, these aren't just characters anymore. They are living people who can change their minds at any point in time.'

"Sure. Just don't expect too much."

They returned to quiet as they started to eat again.

Suki started to get up before Naruto stopped.

"Suki," He started. "Are you feeling a little better after yesterday?"

"I'm..." She almost said that she was fine before knowing Naruto, and likely Shikamaru, wouldn't accept that answer as true. "I'm doing better. I got most of it out yesterday."

"So you'll be better soon?" He asked.

She sighed. "I likely won't be 100% the same Naruto. You should know that when something big like this happens, a person can't return to the same person they were before it." She looked him in the eyes. "However, I need time to grieve. So, I'll see you later."

She started walking before Shikamaru spoke.

"Where are you going?"

She turned towards him.

"I have to go see someone."

With that she left, intending on visiting someone.

'I was told he lived. Time to see if Sasuke's awake.' She thought as she headed to the hospital.

There will likely be about 2-3 chapters left before the large time skip to the beginning occurs.
