Ranks and Stats Explained

First, ranks.

Each rank is split into three categories. Low: The 'rank' given when someone has the power/ability of the average shinobi who just entered that rank. Mid: the ninja is about as strong as the average shinobi in that rank. High: the ninja's ability/power is above average to the point that they may be able to go to the next rank [High Genin --> Low Chunin]

There are 5 Official ranks: Genin, Chunin, Jounin, ANBU [Every village has their own with a different name but to keep it simple, they're referred as ANBU], Kage. However, there are several 'sub ranks' or ranks that give a better estimate about a person's abilities.

First Genin: There are 4 ranks in this. 1. Academy Student-said ninja likely graduated from the academy less than a month ago. 2. Low Genin-ninjas that have likely been a Genin for over a month. 3. Mid Genin-have experienced Combat at some point [typically bandits]. 4. High Genin-Genin that are likely to take the Chunin Exams and have a chance of being promoted.

Example: Kiba Inuzuka is a mid-high Genin at the time of the Chunin Exams.

Second: Chunin: There are three ranks in this being the basics Low, Mid, and High ranks.

Example: Neji Hyuuga is a low-mid Chunin at the time of the Chunin Exams.

Third: Jonin: There are 5 ranks that are split into two separate categories. The first four are as follows: Tokubetsu, Low, Mid, High Jonin and the later is Elite Jonin. 1. Tokubetsu-a special rank where an individual has a certain skill [nin, gen, taijutsu, etc] that is at Jonin level but not there other skills. 2. Low Jonin-just promoted and have fought other ninjas. 3. Mid Jonin-has experience leading teams of Chunin. 4. High Jonin-above average skills with at least 2-3 skills they have are Jonin level. 5. Elite Jonin: This is an unofficial rank where anyone in this rank have most if not all of their skills at High Jonin level.

Examples: Tokubetsu-Kurenai, leader of team 8, is one due to her high skills in Genjutsu while the rest of her skills are mid-high Chunin. Mid Jonin-Baki from the Hidden Sand. Elite Jonin: Gai, Kakashi, Asuma in plain Naruto.

Fourth: ANBU. There are a few ranks but they are largely based on experience. 1. Recruit. 2. ANBU Squad Leader-This ninja is responsible for a sect of ANBU, typically ranging from 3-6 ANBU ninja. 3. ANBU Leader-the leader and typically the most experience and powerful ANBU who's job is to maintain, train, and give missions to the ANBU Squads. The ANBU Leader reports only to their respective Kage.

Finally, Fifth: Kage. While most think that there is only one rank since they run their village, there are actually 5 ranks. 1. New Kage-a Kage who is assigned the role with the most likely reason being the death of the previous Kage. 2. Experienced Kage-a Kage who has held the title for years with no question of their strength. 3. War Kage-a Kage typically chosen for their skills they showed in some major fight. 4. Kami Kage-a Kage who is typically given the rank of God of Shinobi. This title is given to only the strongest Kages as they have likely mastered 3-4 elements at minimum while proving their strength. 5. Super Kage-A rank held by only two people: Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha. Anyone who holds this rank has power that surpasses the Five Kage together and can fight a Bijuu one on one or face multiple Bijuu at once.

Note: For ranks 1-3, they are typically used to explain why or how they became Kage. A new Kage doesn't mean weak, just that they are relatively new to controlling a village. Gaara falls under this because he's been Kazekage for 2-3 years at Max. Mei could be a new Kage but she became Kage due to killing her previous one after a civil war, making her a War Kage. Oonoki could fall in either Experienced or War due to how long he's been Kage.

Example: New Kage-Gaara in Shippuden. Experienced Kage-Oonoki, Kage of Iwagakure, Village Hidden in Stone and Mei, Kage of Kirigakure. War Kage-Minato Namikaze and potentially A, Kage of Kumogakure, village hidden in the clouds. Kami Kage-1st, 2nd, and 3rd Hokage have all held this title at one point. Super Kage: Previously stated, Hashirama and Madara.

There is one more level. It is G̴͈͒͜ö̸̙̳́͗d̵̟̳̲͌ ̶̢̑̋ĺ̵͚̕̕e̸͓̭̾̀͠v̴̨̨͎̈́̆̒ḙ̷̦̤̏̓l̷̗̝͊̀. A level held by only one person who has become myth.

Also, there are letter ranks that also indicate how dangerous someone is. From D [Genin] to SSS [Super Kage].

[Beginning of Naruto]:

Suki Uchiha

Age:13

Chakra-mid Chunin, mid Jonin [Gates]

Chakra Control-High Chunin, low Chunin [Gates]

Ninjutsu-mid-high Chunin, low Jonin [Gates]

Genjutsu-low Chunin, mid Genin [Gates] *This is because Genjutsu is about controlling Chakra and the Gates makes ones chakra become erratic.

*While in Gates 4 and up, the user becomes immune to most Genjutsu with Tsukiyomi and Shisui's Mangekyou Ability-Kotoamatsukami being the exceptions.*

Taijutsu-High Chunin [w/ weights], Low Jonin [w/o] , Gates 1-3: Low Jonin, Gate 4: Mid Jonin

Kenjutsu-Mid Chunin, Low Jonin

Other: Suki Uchiha possesses a fully mature Sharingan and has had a large amount of practice with it. Suki Uchiha also carries two main blades, one that is as long as her arm while the other stops below the wrist. The long one is chakra conductive, allowing one to easily channel elemental chakra through it. The other one is solid steel and is largely used as a back up. Suki Uchiha also wears weights that can jump her Taijutsu up to Low Jonin.

Elemental Release: A strong fire and lightning release with a moderate wind release as well.

Overall threat: Without Gates: High Chunin-Low Jonin [B-rank]. With Gates: High Jonin-Elite Jonin [A-rank].

Recommendations: Two squads [20] Chunin or 2 teams [8] of Low Jonin
