Chapter 17 - Battle Facility

Chapter 17 – Battle Facility

The money that Berry won from the battle against Bestie was used mostly on his storage. He used 1000G to open a new slot making the overall storage slot to six. Berry used 500G to increase the limit of the money slot and now it could hold a maximum of 1000G.

After that, Berry used another 300G to upgrade slot two and 500G on slot 3. Another 500G on slot 4. After all of that upgrade, slot 2 to slot 4 could store a maximum of ten of the same items per slot. With this, Berry would have an easier time collecting his missions' material.

Now, Berry was left with only 300G which he saved to buy more golf balls later.

Other than his storage, Berry got a whole lot of experience points too. He got a total of 31 experience points. Berry used 12 experience points on his level and he was now level two.

Berry got three stat points for the level up and used one point on HP, one point on the attack, and the last point on his defense. Berry decided to distribute them fairly.

After that, Berry used 15 experience points on his Barrier skill and it was now at Level 2. The skill's maximum UP was now 6. The defensive stat increased by one and the size of the barrier was now 2cm2.

Berry's latest stats.

The 'B' at the side of the stats was the base stat points while the 'P' was the added stat points. As for the 'E' was the equipment.

Berry went to the field outside Bigin City to complete his missions. Since Berry had limited storage space, he decided to complete mission 1 and mission 2 which was collecting rabbit horns and rabbit pelts respectively.

Berry decided to use the golf balls to hunt the horned rabbits. The medium and high-quality football was saved for a harder fight. With Berry's added attack stat and his fighting experience against the horned rabbits, it did not take him long to complete mission 2.

As for mission 1, he took a bit longer because the horn had lower drop rates. Berry reported the two missions to the guild and got his rewards. Not only that but his guild points increased too.

After that, Berry went back to the field and started doing mission 3 which was gathering Gummy Dandelion. This plant was common in the field and Berry completed it in half an hour. He reported the mission and got his rewards.

Then, Berry stopped taking any new missions. He wanted to do something else. Berry read in the forums that the best way to gain experience and money was not doing missions but participating in the Battle Facility that could be found in the city.

Doing missions was the easiest way without much challenge but the rewards gained were much lesser. If the player loved playing through the storyline, they might do the missions because there were a lot of missions with a story in Dodgeball Master.

However, most professional players opted to complete the missions because they wanted to advance faster. Be that as it may, there were story missions that gave really good rewards that the professional players would participate in.

Berry went to the Battle Facility which was located in the middle of Bigin City. After a few minutes of walking, Berry saw the 10 floors wide building which looked like an oversize stadium stood gorgeously in the middle of the city.

The building had multiple entrances that Berry could get in and at each entrance, there were a lot of players going in and out of the building. Berry saw their in-game name and their levels and he was impressed.

Most of the players going in and out of the Battle Facility was at level 10 and above. The highest Berry saw was level 45.

"They all look strong," Berry looked at the players with awe. They all wore advanced equipment and Berry looked out of place there.

"Am I too early to come here?" Berry wondered but he still went inside the Battle Facility. Inside, many players were wandering around or crowding in front of a big screen watching the battle of the other players.

They shouted and cheered at the big screen. Berry had thought that the one showed on the screen must be popular players. Even so, he was not interested in that and went straight to the registration counter.

"Welcome~ How may I help you?" the receptionist asked.

"I want to register," Berry replied and he was given a form to fill. Berry filled in the form and he did not make the same mistake as he did before in the name section.

Berry handed the form to the receptionist and after a few minutes of processing, he was given a highly technological card as proof of his registration.

"The Battle Facility Card is linked to your status menu. So, it will be stored there. It will not use your storage slot," the receptionist spoke.

"When you want to challenge someone, you just need to give the card to us and choose the Game Mode you want. Since you are new to the Battle Facility, you are only allowed to participate in the Single Versus Mode where you will be battling against one other player," the receptionist explained.

"If you win ten battle in Single Versus Mode, you can participate in the Group Versus Mode. As for the other game mode, you can participate in them too after you unlock the Group Versus Mode. That is if there are one available," the receptionist added.

"Stay tuned to the announcement menu where we will advertise the events for the other Game Modes," the receptionist ended the explanation there. Berry nodded and left the counter. He wanted to check the card first.

Berry found a bench and sat there to check the Battle Facility Card. He activated the card and the card produced a hologram with his data.

Name – Berryier

Level - 2

Versus (Single)

Win – 0

Draw – 0

Lose – 0

Total Battle – 0

Win Percentage – 0

Since Berry did not participate in any of the battles yet, the statistics were all zero.

"I guess more data will be added once I participate in more Game Mode," Berry mumbled. He checked the time and decided to end the game. Berry went to an inn nearby and logged off the game.

It was almost night when Berry logged off the game. He played a bit longer that day because of the three missions. Berry got out of his room to check if his two housemates were home. Both of them got home early that day and was hanging out in the living room watching television.

Berry joined them and they started getting to know each other. In celebration of Berry becoming their housemates as well as their new coworker, Hardy and Pierre treated Berry out for dinner.

Spring 4th, Month 1, the Year 2301

Berry went to work and familiarized himself with the job as much as possible. After office hours ended, Berry went home with Hardy and Pierre. They hanged out for a while in the living room but later spent the time by themselves.

As for Berry, he decided to play Dodgeball Master. Berry appeared in the inn and he walked to the Battle Facility. This time, Berry decided to play the Single Versus Mode.

Berry registered at the counter and was asked to wait for a bit to find a match for him. A few minutes later, a match was found for him.

Berry was led to a small room. It was the waiting room before the battle. In this room, Berry would be given time to prepare for the battle. Not only that but he was also given an explanation about the battle.

Since this was Berry's first battle, he was given the chance to choose the battlefield.

"Hmm… I choose grassland," Berry chose the field because he had experience fighting there and since this was his first battle in the Battle Facility, he preferred a place he was familiar with.

The receptionist explained a few rules of the battle. First, the battle would be going for five minutes. Second, the skill's UP was limited to only 5. Even so, the skill's current performance remained the same.

For example, Berry's Barrier was at level 2 and other than the UP, everything else remained the same. The skill would be at its best performance.

Third, similar to UP, the players could only use five balls. The type of balls depended on the players' choice. Not only that but the balls' durability would not lessen during the battle. That meant they could use them without worrying about losing them.

With all the rules laid out in front of Berry, he started choosing his balls. Berry decided to go with one high-quality football, two medium-quality footballs, and two golf balls.

The two footballs were gained from Bestie. Since Bestie did not want to continue playing the game, he gave it to Berry.

Berry sat quietly in the room waiting for his turn. He looked at his opponent's name, KOA2468.

"…Is this the automatic generate name?" Berry wondered. A few minutes later, Berry was informed that it was his time.

Berry stepped on the teleporter in the room and was teleported to the battlefield.
