A little moment together

Once lunch was over, the staff who worked here came to clear everything off the table.

And when suddenly my gaze fell on Shang Xie's hand.

A bar indicating happiness, and it was at 55 percent.

He met my surprised gaze.

- What's wrong?" he asks.

- No, I just remembered something," I say, shaking my head.

- I see," he says.

We leave the table.

- Yuan Xie, I'll leave you to look after the piano teacher, I'm going upstairs to take care of some documents," Shang Xie tells him.

- Okay," replies Yuan Xie casually.

- If you need anything, ask Yuan Xie and he'll get it for you," says Shang Xie.

- Okay," I replied.

Shang Xie waved goodbye before heading upstairs. Once Shang Xie had gone, Yuan Xie turned to me.

- Joshua, you can go and play in the living room if you like," said Yuan Xie.

Joshua leaves the table and runs into the living room to play.

- Is there anything you'd like to do today," asked Yuan Xie.

- I think I'll take a nap in the garden, and then I'd like to make some cupcakes for the film," I reply.

- Cakes for what? he asks me curiously.

- I don't know what yet," I tell him.

- I can't wait to eat them, you cook really well, Yuan Xie smiles at me.

- Who said you'd have any," I teased him.

- Hey, who else are you making the cakes for," he pouted.

- Well, Joshua and Shang Xie," I said, continuing to tease him.

- It's all right, I'll ask Joshua to do without your cakes," says Yuan Xie proudly.

- I was joking with you," I tell him, "of course you'll have cakes!

- Hmpff," he sneered.

He was really childish and it was quite funny.

- Let's go and help your brother," I suggested.

He smiled mockingly.

- Let's go and help him," he said, shrugging his head and smirking.

That didn't bode well.

- Where's his office," I asked.

- Follow me," he says.

We leave the room and climb the spiral staircase. Upstairs, we cross a corridor until we come to a door.

- This is the study room, Yuan Xie tells me.

He knocks.

- Come in," says Shang Xie from the room.

We enter the room.

- Ruby wanted to come and help you," says Yuan Xie.

- Okay, and you came to help too? asked Shang Xie.

- No, I just came to accompany her. I'm going to take a nap now," replied Yuan Xie, baying.

Then Yuan Xie left, closing the door behind him.

-The genius skill is activated!

- Do you know anything about business, asks Shang Xie?

- Not much, but I'm a quick learner," I replied confidently.

He smiles amusedly before handing me back some non-confidential documents.

- So I'm going to test your knowledge," he says.

- You won't be disappointed, trust me," I replied cheerfully.

- You can sit on the sofa, he said, pointing to it.

I go and sit on the sofa and start working. In fact, I had to sort through the applicants' CVs. I had to find the most interesting ones that could bring something extra to the company.

Thanks to my competency card, I quickly completed the task.

- Finished? asked a surprised Shang Xie as he approached me.

- Yes," I confirmed.

I handed him the documents, which he took in his hands. He flips through them, becoming more and more surprised by what he sees.

- You haven't disappointed me like you said you would," says Shang Xie, pleasantly surprised.

- Okay," I said, nodding.

He fetches more documents from his desk and hands them to me. I get to work, and when it's all over, I hand him some documents.

- Thank you for your hard work," he congratulates me.

- You're welcome," I replied. "If I can be of any help, don't hesitate, after all, you saved my life.

- All right, next time I'll call on you," he said, before adding, "I'll let you get some rest and then you can bake your famous cake.

- Yes, I didn't ask, but do you have any allergies here," I asked him.

- No, I don't have any allergies, even to the other members of my family here," he reassured me.

- Okay, maybe you'd like me to get you a coffee," I replied.

- Yes, thank you," he said, rubbing his temples.

I leave the room, closing it gently behind me. I walk down the stairs to the bottom.

I see Yuan Xie sleeping on the sofa, which makes me smile.

I then head for the kitchen where I decide to make her not a coffee but a bitter caramel cappuccino.

Once the cappuccino is finished, I go upstairs to give it to Shang Xie.

- Is that a cappuccino? asks an astonished Shang Xie.

- Yes," I reply.

- I don't like cappuccino, it's too sweet," he says.

- This one's not like the others," I replied, smiling a little.

He tastes the cappuccino, then widens his eyes.

- So it's good," I asked, amused.

- It's very good," he replies, a smile at the corner of his mouth.

- You're welcome, after all you've done for me," I reply gratefully.

He nods.

- Good luck with your work, I won't bother you any longer, I'm going to go now," I tell him.

- Okay, no worries. Do you have any idea of when you'd like to watch the film?

- In the evening, if it's convenient for everyone," I suggested, shrugging my shoulders.

- Yeah, good idea," he says, accepting my proposal.

I wave good-bye before leaving his office. I close the door behind me and head for the stairs. At the bottom, I observe Yuan Xie, who is still asleep.

I then decide to go into the garden for a short nap.
