Sitting at the table, surrounded by my future in-laws, I feel both nervous and grateful. It's an important moment, one where I can share a little of my past with them, show them who I really am.
The kind look of my in-laws and the curious smile of their cousin, Tian, give me a little courage to begin my story.
"So how did you meet Sheng Xing, hmm?" Tian asks, his gaze sparkling with curiosity.
I smile, stirring my spoon lightly in my bowl of cereal.
-Well, it's a bit of an... unusual story, actually.
I glance at Sheng Xing, my future husband, whose face lights up with a gentle smile.
-It all started one day when I found myself in a very delicate situation... I take a deep breath, immersing myself in the memories of that day

Murmurs of astonishment and concern escape my listeners, but I continue, knowing that the end of my story will bring some relief.

I leave a moment of silence, letting my words echo through the room, before continuing.
-I managed to get back on the boat with Joshua, I threw them all one by one into the sea before passing out in a corner of the boat.

A tender smile spreads across my face as I turn to Sheng Xing, my eyes shining with admiration and love.

After sharing my story with my future in-laws and Tian, a silence settles in the room.
The faces are marked with worry but I feel their eyes being relieved knowing that Sheng Xing will be there to help me punish them.
-I'm glad it's sorted out for you Ruby, the mother smiled at me, but I'm curious how long you've known each other?
I take a deep breath, preparing to answer their legitimate question.
-Honestly not very long, I admitted to them, fiddling with my fingers.
I sense a certain worry in the air, as my future in-laws exchange concerned glances.
-Dad and mom stop making that face, Sheng Xing suddenly smiled, I remind you that you had a whirlwind marriage when you didn't even know each other
-It's true, his father remembered, smiling.
-Don't worry, Sheng Xing reassured them, I'm sure of my decision, I love Ruby and I want to spend my whole life with her.

-What are you studying, the mother asked me curiously, looking at me tenderly
- Law studies to become a lawyer, I explained to them

I give them a grateful smile, touched by their sincere concern.

Relief can be seen on their faces.
We share breakfast in a friendly atmosphere.
-And your parents Ruby, do they know about your relationship?, asked Tian
-No, not yet, I replied, shaking my head.
