Prologue

2 weeks later

We were inside a huge mansion. The mansion and gardens were easily a few hundred hectares. Every inch of this property reflected luxury and eccentricity.

I had been at this boring rich party for several hours now. Always talking about the same useless thing. They were all trying to show that they had money.

I huff for the umpteenth time, bored by all this pointless discussion. I run a hand through my short, wavy black hair, a sign of my impatience.

I feel Betty take me by the arm and lead me away from the never-ending discussion.

- Go outside for a breath, I'll say you had a last-minute unexpected incident, Betty whispered to me, noticing my annoyance.

- No need to lie, you can clearly tell them that I'm not interested in this kind of evening, I replied in his ear

- You know very well that we can't say that even if I would have liked to say it, she replied to me in a low voice, in an amused voice.

- You know very well that I'm not the type to keep my mouth shut, I replied in a soft voice

We could hear the discussion of these rich people even though we had moved away from the rest of the conversation.

-I'm on my third yacht this year, replied a rich man

- You had fun this year, laughed the roughly dressed woman.

I turn to Betty and smile playfully.

-Do you hear what they say?, I asked him

Betty nods.

- Sometimes I really have the impression that they are in their imaginary world, I told him

- It's the world of the rich unfortunately, Betty ends up saying

- Fortunately not everyone is like that, I answered him

I walk towards this rich man and the lady roughly dressed in luxury brands.

-I heard that you bought another yacht?, I asked him in false surprise

- Yes, it's my little pride at the moment, in fact it cost me dearly, the man replied in an arrogant and proud tone.

- It's true that yachts are magnificent but could I know how much you bought it for?, I asked him in a falsely curious tone.

- It's quite expensive: 250,000 dollars and with the renovations 350,000 dollars, the man admitted to me in a vain tone

-350,000 dollars, it's true that it's expensive, isn't it, Ms. Daisy?, the woman, roughly dressed in luxury, asked me.

The waiter who handed out the glasses of champagne passed by me. So I took a glass which I brought to my mouth to delicately sip a few drops of this liqueur.

-Well, it's true that it's expensive until I remember that I'm so rich that I can buy your yacht for ten times its price, I said to him, sighing falsely disturbed.

-You don't seem so...rich, the man looked at me in a vain tone.

-I suggest you calm your pride, everyone here knows who Daisy is. And buying a yacht ten times its price is as insignificant an action as if I were going to buy bread. Fortunately my parents, or rather my mother, taught me not to be eccentric, I replied with a smirk.

-What are you insinuating?!, he gets irritated

-I think you already understand what I'm implying, so there's no need for me to explain it in detail. And don't take it to heart if your parents didn't teach you to be realistic. Have a good evening, I said to them as I left.

I turn away from these two figures and head towards the exit door. I open it and in front of me a huge staircase made of fake crystal but adorned with real diamonds.

It was beautiful and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't.

I walk down the stairs and the sound of heels colliding with that fake crystal echoes through the huge hallway. Arriving in front of the hall, the large bay windows allow us to observe a sumptuous view of the gardens of this residence.

So I leave the mansion to head outside. But my long beige dress with golden highlights slowed me down when going outside. I also wore high heels which were starting to tire my feet. I take off my heels and hold them in my right hand.

Finally arriving outside, I lean against a stair railing. I sigh contentedly, the cold night air soothing me.

-When am I going to see Sheng Xing again, I whispered to myself

Looking up in front of me I see Caesar. He was in his luxurious but discreet black car, with the window down and with a cigarette in his mouth, he was observing me.

He was dressed in his suit without his tie. And as usual he had unbuttoned both buttons of his shirt. He still had a few rebellious strands in the front of his hair which gave a slightly naughty look. And his black eyes left no chance of knowing what he had in mind.

How long had he been watching me?, I thought surprised

I approached his car, walking on the ground without my heels.

-Don't you think that we've crossed paths a little too many times?, I asked him, staring at him.

He continues to smoke his cigarette before throwing it out the window.

-I have the impression that sometimes you follow me but it's ridiculous, isn't it, to think that?, I said to him amusedly, shaking my head

He smirked before turning to his right arm sitting in front of him.

Besides, I hadn't even seen him.

¿Está todo listo? (everything ready?), Caesar asks him in Spanish in a lazy tone.

-Sí, jefe (yes sir), his right arm replied in Spanish

His right arm gets out of the car but Caesar monopolizes my attention by talking to me.

-Do you like surprises?, he asks me in his deep voice

-No, I hate that and you?, I asked him in turn

He looks at me before smiling seductively. I rolled my eyes, he didn't even answer me.

-Cógelo (take it), Caesar finally said

And then I feel a damp tissue soaked in a strange product suddenly placed on my nose and mouth.

-Why?, I stammered, my eyelids starting to close.

I was in shock. All this time he pretended to be a kind and good person. He had hidden his game well.

-Because you interest me, he replied amusedly

He twirled a lock of my wavy hair around his fingers before letting go.

-Métela en el coche (put her in the car), said Caesar to his right arm

And I fell asleep not knowing where to take Caesar. If I had known that he wasn't a good guy and that on top of that he was one of the bosses of a famous mafia, I would never have spoken to him.

Now it was too late.
