Chapter 20

She was then dragged to the ground by whatever attack her leg from behind. When she looked it was a pitch-black figure that resembled a wolf, but everything was black. Just as she was about to kick the black thing the wolf she stabbed in the neck appeared before her blood was dripping on her face. Then she finally figured it out this wolf was not ordinary. She made an attempt to stab the wolf again, but it was useless the wolf bite into her throat ending her life in a swift moment.

The Shadow Wolf that killed Lix, let out a low whimper. The stab from its neck damaged its vocal cords and made it harder to breath. Even though it was walking on deaths door, if you looked into its eyes you could see that this was not enough to sate its hungry for revenge. Since, the Shadow Wolf could no longer howl, its shadow appeared next to it and released a menacing howl that even caused all of the other Shadow Wolves to tremble with fear.

To the east of Koa's Campsite

Yeo was still running for his life when a howl was heard. The howl caused Yeo to shake uncontrollably. He was exhausted by running for a long period of time so, the howl made him feel as if the world would close up on him in any moment.

As Yeo was panicking another howl was heard that was relatively close. This howl was to notify where their target was to the other wolves.

'What how are they so close I hide my tracks and scent, but they are still here?!' Yeo was thinking as he was slumped to the ground dead tired.

As he was thinking this a Shadow Wolf appeared at the of the gapping in the trees. To Yeo surprise this wolf did not move at all, just stared at him. No matter the noise of animals or anything the wolf's eyes never left Yeo. The wolf tilted its head back and let out another howl.

This howl was to alert all of the surrounding wolves that their prey has been found and is either wound or to weak to continue running away. The seconds later its like if the silent forest became as busy as a city the sounds of constant moving was heard from all over. After a few minutes of constant moving around all of the sound stopped like it was never there. All that was heard was a strange breathing sound.

The source of the sound revealed itself. It was the Shadow Wolf from the camp a trickle of blood was seen coming from the front of the wolf. This made it look as if the wolf was sent from the depths of hell to return one that had escaped. Instead of a growl the Shadow Wolf let out a strange gurgle sound. The wolf walked forward toward Yeo, but stopped less than 10 feet away from him.

"Hey why did you stop didn't you want to kill me. What's the point in stopping halfway? Let fight to the death. You stupid mutt…" Yeo words stopped in the middle of his last sentence.

Yeo head was no longer on his shoulders or anywhere around. All there was a bloody mist that cover a small area around his body. As Yeo body slumped to the ground, so did the Shadow Wolf that was chase the three people. The Shadow Wolf's body became lifeless after it had finished killing Yeo.

When the Shadow Wolf died all of the other Shadow Wolves left as the sun had began to rise. The forest that looked like a nightmare, began to change as it looked like a green luscious forest.

Koa's Campsite.

"Well, I guess they didn't make it." Koa said as he looked towards the center of the forest.

After Koa said that, the girl looked at Koa as if he was a monster. Koa showed no joy or regret when he said that; it was as if he was no longer a being that cared for the intelligent races. In the depths of her heart a strange linger of fear formed as she looked at Koa.

"Your matter has been solved. You should leave and make sure you are out of the forest by night fall." Koa said as he turned and looked at the girl.

Not waiting the to continue his conversation Koa ventured into the forest. The girl was completely stupefied by the fact that he did not care if anything happened to other people after he helped them.

"Well, I guess I'll leave and hopefully make back home with out running int trouble." The girl said as she stood up and began to leave the forest.

A couple of hours pass.

The Ingran Forest to the east.

Koa was following the trail of footprints that had been left behind. There were a set of Wolf paw prints also amongst the footprints with some drops of blood every couple of feet.

"Hmm. Hopefully this is where the final battle happened. It looks like the Shadow Wolf was injured, but it still sot out to avenge the other shadow wolves." Koa said continuing to follow the trail that was left behind.

As Koa continued to follow the trail he soon found a narrow clearing. In the clearing he found to bodies that laid on the ground, both were cold and lifeless. Though one no longer had a head, it was a mere headless corpse. This was the corpse of Yeo the tracker. The other lifeless body was a dark furred wolf that laid on the ground, but Koa recognized it right away. It was the wolf that struck fear in him from a slight stare.

"Looks like the three really did die, but the Shadow Wolf died also? I would of thought that the other wolves would interfere or at the very least take its corpse back with them." Koa said while looking at the large Shadow Wolf.

[Do you wish to absorb the blood essence that has been left behind?]

"Yes." Koa

"Hm collecting blood essence is not as easy as I thought it would be." Koa
