Chapter 11

Ring. Ring. Ring.

I wake up to my phone ringing on the night stand. I hit the ignore button and tried to go back to sleep. I had a serious hangover. All i needed was a little more sleep to face the day.

I guess after Micheal realize he was blocked, he started calling private. I had to give it to him, he was very persistent. I just wanted to clear my head before I talked to him.

Ring. Ring.

Uh. Not again. I picked the phone up without even looking at the screen to see who was calling.

"Please stop calling my damn phone." I said, thinking it was Micheal.

"Well damn. What the hell i did to you" asked Kita sounding all hurt.

"Girl, I thought you was Micheal cheating ass. He won't stop calling my phone. I can't even get no sleep"

Kita paused for a minute, being all dramatic. "Well duh Guh. That's why they invented putting your phone on silent. To silence any unwanted attention."

We burst out laughing. Because I never even thought about putting the phone on silent. That is why I love my girls They could bring me out of any dark mood.

"So what happened between you and your new live?" Kita asked.

"Before I tell u what happened with Micheal, let me call the other girls in the group chat. I don't really wanna keep having to go over it again and again." I Itold Kita.

I waited until all of us was connected and told the girls about Micheal. I was almost ashame to tell them how i waited at his house for him to return.

"So you mean to tell me that he want no better than Damien." Sheka hollered. "And why the hall would you sit outside his house waiting on him and some bitch without one of us."

I had braced myself on what my girls was about to say. We never babied anyone feelings. It was always the naked truth. I just knew they was finna give it to me raw. And that's exactly what I needed. I was kicking myself for getting so worked up.

"Yall just don't no how mad I was. I just wanted answers." I tried to explain.

"What did he say? Who was the chick? I just know you ain't fall for no lie that he told you." Kita was running over her own words trying to hurry up and get them out. I can tell that she was as mad as me at this point.

"Have you at least heard him out? You could be over reacting. Everything ain't always what it seem. You just cut the man off without even giving him a chance to defend his self. Don't let your past relationship mess up what could be your future." Jessica finally chimed in.

She was all ways the level headed one the rest of us was quick to pop off. It didn't take much to get us started.

"Fuck, all that. She did his ass just right. You always trying to see the good in somebody Jessica. That's why your little heart always be broken. All this time and he was dogging our girl, and you wanna be on some nicely nice shit." Responded Sheka. "Fuck out of her with that. She did right to block his ass."

Jessica was quiet for minute but it didn't last long. "Y'all just making things worser. We don't know what he have done or not done. I think he a good guy. There gotta be another explanation."

I rolled my eyes to the back of my head. This was getting me nowhere. I told them i would think about calling Micheal and hung up the phone. Talking to them had me so confused. I busy myself round the kitchen. I was fixing dinner when I heard Damien bringing the kids through the door.

"Hey, Mom." Jeremiah said as he raced through the kitchen on his way to their game room. Junior kissed me on my cheek as he followed behind his little brother. Them boys love them some Call of Duty.

I was putting my cornbread in the oven when Aza ran into the kitchen.

"Mommy, i was showing da-da the new toys you bought me. Can he stay and play tea time with me?" She asked innocently. She jumped in my arms and gave me a lil peck on my lips.

"Of course Sweetie! He can stay as long as you like." I looked up at Damien and gave him a little smile.

He reached out and gave my shoulder a squeeze.

"Shunshine how you doing? You look a little tired baby You need to get some rest. The bakery must be kicking your butt this week."

"Yes, things been a little hectic but my assistant is amazing. I just been rounding round, doing to much." i replied.

"Well if you let me stay for dinner, I'll get the kids to bed so you can get a little bit sleep. I miss your cooking anyway. I need a break from takeout and fast food." He said with a laugh.

He headed up the stairs to go have his tea date with Aza. I checked on the food and went sat on the couch in the living room. After a couple minute he headed back down where I was.

Damien sat on the couch beside me and looked me in my face. For a minute, he just stared.

He reached in his back pocket and hand me some papers.

"I almost forgot he said. I signed the papers. I finally realized that you deserve to be happy. Even if I'm not the one that's making you smile. But you will always be my Shunshine! I miss you girl. But I'm man enough to see how much i hurted you."

At that moment, I missed us. Not in the way like I wanted him back. I wanted a family.

I started to cry.

"What's wrong baby?" Damien asked me.

I laid my head on his shoulder and just cried. I felt like the weight of the world was on my shoulder. I didn't even protest when he left my head and softly kissed me. Before things could get too complicated, i broke the kiss and ran to the kitchen. He followed me and tried to apologize.

"Damien it was nothing. I didn't exactly say no. It was just a simple kiss between friends with history. Go get the kids."

I put the food on the table and waited on them. As we ate for the first time together since this started, I realized that maybe the future was starting to look up. Samien had finally sign the papers and I was officially a free woman.
