Chapter 16 Please Take Your Place, Actors (1, Please Recommend!)

An hour later, Shen Fu asked Xiaodie, "Aren't you about to be late for work."

"Ah~" Xiaodie hurriedly got up, but after thinking for a moment, she still picked up her stockings.

Shen Fu however, grabbed her back into his arms, "What if you don't go to work? I can support you."

"Stop it, I am an independent woman."

In his heart, Shen Fu thought, you don't even have an independent personality, yet you claim to be an independent woman.

"It's not about not going to work, it's about changing the form of it. My company is expanding and needs financial talent. I think you're very suitable; in the future, you can take control of both the family and the company's finances!"

Xiaodie's actions slowed down, "I need to think about it."

"There's no rush," Shen Fu didn't want to pressure his wife too much, "Bai Jiaoyue has withdrawn my funds, so everything with the company has to slow down."

"Aren't you leaving, husband?" Xiaodie saw Shen Fu still lying there, with his head crooked awkwardly, very indecent.

Shen Fu said, "We paid for two rooms; we need to stay until noon to get our money's worth."

Actually, he just didn't want to move. The combination of black stockings and high heels was honestly too much for him to handle.

This perspective was very much in line with Bai Xiaodie's simple view on life, "Hmm, makes sense! I'll go first then, they should still be offering free breakfast downstairs, do you want to eat?"

"I'll take a shower and eat later. Don't worry about me. I'll send you yesterday's diary later. Oh, right, your bank is putting on a mock bank robbery this afternoon. You know about it, right?"

"Ah, I had no idea!" The manager mentioned it yesterday, but Bai Jiaoyue intercepted the message.

Shen Fu's reminder was very timely. He then said, "I'll be there in the afternoon to join in too. We can ask the robbers to tie us up together—double the excitement."

"Mm-hmm!" Xiaodie nodded, finding it incredibly romantic.

Shen Fu took his time getting up before finally going downstairs to eat. After returning upstairs to write, he felt a bit of regret—the chairs in the hotel weren't as comfortable as his own.

When checking out downstairs, he had to check out both rooms. The reception was quite puzzled; this guest clearly only booked one room, so why was he checking out the lady next door's room too?

That looked like quite the story!

No sooner had Shen Fu arrived home than Xiaodie finished work, and Wan Ziqian also came back, having dropped Ugly Orange off at work and stayed there for a while before returning.

But she was only going to have a meal before going back to her parents' house. After being away traveling for so long, her sister and brother-in-law were looking forward to her return.

Xiaodie must have known that Qian was leaving as she had already bought local specials from Capital City, one for her parents and one for her sister.

Qian couldn't stop talking even while eating, "My aunt is so domestic, if I were a man, my uncle wouldn't even be in the picture."

"You only praise me like this when you want me to bring food for you~" Bai Xiaodie laughed, reminiscing about dorm life in college.

Shen Fu looked at his niece, "Is there something you're after? We're all straightforward people here, no need for beating around the bush."

Wan Ziqian giggled, "Every time I go home, I have to take a taxi. It's inconvenient and not safe. Uncle, could you help me get a car?"

By "get a car," she actually meant a license plate; with Qian's salary, buying a car and a house in Capital City was already within her means.

"A fuel car might be difficult, but would an electric car license work?"

"Electric is fine too! I think T brand cars are pretty cool, and our hometown is close, so I can drive all the way home." Wan Ziqian, being a girl, wasn't too concerned with speed or performance—looks were most important.

"Alright, I'll ask Tong about it, he's well-connected." Shen Fu agreed to it, planning to ask a college friend for help.

Then he turned his gaze toward Xiaodie, and sensing what Shen Fu might say, she quickly said, "I'm going to take the first subject test next week, and soon I'll be able to drive myself."

Shen Fu held his wife's hand tenderly and said, "Actually, whether you can drive or not isn't important; the main thing is I can deduct points from you now!"

Bai Xiaodie/Wan Ziqian: "..."

After the meal.

Hearing that there would be a bank robbery to witness in the afternoon, Wan Ziqian regretted her decision. "If I had known, I would have left tomorrow, but the car is scheduled to arrive at two o'clock."

Bai Xiaodie hugged her soon-to-leave best friend, "You can catch up on the news later. I wonder if they'll blur our faces."

"We'll be on the news?"

"Yeah, lots of media will be there. After all, something like this is pretty rare."

By the time Shen Fu and Xiaodie arrived at the bank, indeed, a crowd had gathered—journalists, bank staff, and police were helping maintain order.

However, since they were already there, they could not respond later to arrest the robbers.

Shen Fu also spotted policeman Guo among the crowd. They exchanged a meaningful glance, silently understanding each other's presence.

Seeing Shen Fu and Bai Xiaodie arrive together, clearly close, Guo felt relieved. Although he had saved a marriage, he did not wish to take all the credit, instead opting to be an unsung hero!

But he thought he might mention it in his report back at the station~

Inside the bank, many "actors" were already in position—men and women, young and old, while bank tellers were serving tea and water.

"Dad, have some tea. Mom, stop looking around, they're giving away gifts later."

"Son, just hang on a bit longer, the robbers will be here soon."

"Dear, don't try to play the hero later; the robbers have guns."

"So do I..."

Indeed, they were all staff family members. Shen Fu took a number, pretending to withdraw money.

Xiaodie came over to brief Shen Fu, "We might not be able to stick together later. Our desks are inside, and we don't have any cash. If we hide under the tables, the robbers probably won't bother with us."

"So we won't have a part to play?"

"Yeah." Xiaodie sounded a bit disappointed, not because of the lack of screen time but because she couldn't be "shot" alongside Shen Fu.

"It's fine," Shen Fu said with a mischievous smile, "when the time comes, I'll just tell the robbers that you guys inside are calling the police, and make them drag you out."

As the two were discussing how to give themselves more to do, a portly man walked through the entrance—it was the branch manager, Manager Zhong.

He greeted Shen Fu first, warmly, "Shen, you're here too! Your presence is a great honor!"

"Not at all, just here for the fun of it."

Manager Zhong exchanged a few pleasantries with Shen, then whispered in his ear, "Look, brother, why did you transfer out all the money you had with us?"

Going to trade stocks, naturally he'd have transferred it, and it was even done by one of his staff, Shen Fu chuckled, "Don't worry, it'll come back soon, and there will be more of it."

"Looks like little brother is going to strike it rich. Xiaodie is truly fortunate!" Manager Zhong laughed heartily, not prying further.

"Alright then, the robbers will be here in five minutes, I better go upstairs. Can't have them 'catch the leader to capture the followers,' right?"

"Them?"

"Yeah, a gang operation, very bold."

After Manager Zhong left, the bank staff and their families took their places. Shen Fu wanted to watch how the robbers would storm in but then heard his number being called.

Ah, it was his turn.

Well, he had no choice but to go over and chat with the teller, a young lady who respectfully referred to him as "brother-in-law" and kept staring at his hair, which felt a bit odd~

(First update, a little explosion, asking for support, so I can further my position on the leaderboard, please and thank you!)
