forty one

Pulled my clothes back on, flustered as Jake did the same.

He smirked at me, and my insides went all fluttery, as I grinned back.

"So, where is our next reservation?" I asked curiously, trying my best to get the necklace to clasp around my neck.

"Lemme help with that" Jake, came behind me, carefully securing the necklace, "it's less of a reservation and more of entertainment"

I smiled looking at our reflection in the mirror. Jake's face was so cute as he tried his best, fiddling with the clasp until he eventually got it.

I ran my finger over the smooth, small lightning bolt, feeling Jake's arms snake around me.

"I'm so glad you like it" he said softly

"It's the nicest present I've ever gotten. Seriously Jake, thank you so much"

"Your very welcome" he grinned. I let myself lean slightly into him, as we stood together. I felt his hand brush over the scar on my side. Usually it made me flinch or feel embarrassed, but now it made me feel powerful, and lucky.

I owed that all to Jake.

"Anyways we don't want to be late" he took his hands from around me, taking one of my hands in his as we left.

We walked all through our area, and into a more expensive avenue. He led me past the flashing lights from buildings, to stand outside a huge building.

It was the cinema, but the nice one, with plush seats and good popcorn.

I grinned at Jake as he led me inside. He quickly ordered popcorn, and led us into a screen. I was clueless to what we were going to watch, but I had a good idea of what Jake liked.

We sat down in the plush seats, moving the armrest so it was almost one big chair instead of two separate ones, and Jake and me sat close as possible. I was surprised to see very few people in the seats.

The screen lit up and I looked to the  side of the screen, seeing the name of the film,

'the hallway'. I had seen trailers for the film and it look absolutely terrifying. Jake squeezed my hand, "get ready for the best adrenaline rush of your life" he whispered and I leaned into him slightly, interested to watch the film.

We were 10 minutes in and already the jump scares were awful. The first few times, Jake looked away, leaving me screaming, and we were both gripping each other's hands in fear.

I, surprisingly, started getting used to the constant jumps, finding it fairly predictable.

Jake didn't seem as used to it, and was still jumping and jolting.

The adrenaline rush was so strong it actually made it all quite fun.

Eventually we stumbled out of the cinema, slightly shaken, but both in hysterics. We had so much energy now, plus everything seemed overly funny.

Jake called an Uber, and we both clambered inside, driving back to ours. As soon as we got inside Jake started tapping away on his phone. 10 minutes or so later, we were relaxed on the couch, when a knock sounded out the door. Jake jumped up, grabbing a huge delivery of food from an Uber eats worker.

I watched in awe as he layed out the spread of Chinese food, Mexican food and burgers infront of us.

I grabbed us drinks from the fridge, taking them back to the couch.

I gave Jake his drink, flopping down next to him.

"This looks amazing" I told him

"I know" he smiled at me

We both started tucking into the huge amount of food, laughing at our happiness.

2 hrs later ——————

I fell onto the bed, completely exhausted, and Jake did the same

I tiredly turned to face him, tracing my finger along his jawline.

"Today was amazing, thank you so much Jakey" I said softly, looking into his eyes.

He smiled mischievously, "it's not over yet..."

"Huh? What do you me-"

I was cut off by Jake pressing his lips into mine, leaning over me so he was more or less on top of me. I smiled into the kiss.

Things were never boring with Jake
