Mission II

"9:00pm"

Said his phone as he glanced at it once again and then looked at the building once again, before walking towards it many tall walls on the left side as he searched the area for a blind spot from the cameras that watched over.

It was the time when most of the first shift guards had left for either home or dinner and the ones for the second shift were yet to arrive.

Seojin was already in his work attire, the black suit and soft soled shoes fresh as they had been taken out of the closet for the first time in two months.

Unlike the top rankers, the ones in the C and D class ranks were totally alone. There were no partners, tech helps or strategists.

Making a short sprint towards the wall, he leaped over, landing behind one of the bushes that surrounded the whole place.

He couldn't climb through the pipes on the wall as he would be as visible as the moon on a dark night. He needed something that would let him enter easily. Seojin began looking around, crouching behind the bushes, careful not to make single sound. That was when he noticed one of the patrolling officers, in his mid thirties, seemingly in a stressful conversation on the phone sit on one of the benches.

"That's not how it works! How can you just be angry on me when I had already said I had a night shift today?? Hadn't I said I won't be home?" He said, exasperatedly loosening his shirt collar, removing his ID card.

"No we need to talk about this. You keep getting angry at me as if it's all my fault." He stood up, and then angrily walking away, forgetting his ID on the bench.

'Perfect.'

Thought Seojin as he slowly crawled forward, sliding his hand and then pulling back as soon as he got the ID card.

Now on to which entrance to use.

The only one that wasn't guarded was the staff entrance at the back of the building. That meant he'd have to walk from here till the back of the building. It wasn't far, but he could be easily caught.

But then again it was the only way. Taking a breath, he put on his cap and began walking, pretending to be on a call as he reached the entrance.

It was all smooth and he was already in. That was when he heard someone call him.

"Oi newbie, why are you so late? "

It seemed that they had misunderstood him for someone else.

"Come here"

The man seemed to be in his late 50's as he gestured with his hands. And judging by his uniform, he was probably in a higher rank than normal detectives or police.

Seojin tugged at his cap, lowering his head.

'There's no one else around and this is a blind spot from the CCTV......maybe I could just -'

"Ohhhh Chieef!"

He turned around, hearing the familiar high pitched voice.

"I was searching for youuu! My grandpa was waiting for youuu, please come, we shouldn't make him wait more ha ha ha "

She cooed with an accent, her red heels clicking on the floor as she walked towards the chief.

"Oh right, we should not keep Mr. Park waiting ha ha . "

He began walking, but before he left, he turned once again,

"Newbie? Where were you going? "

Seojin tensed for a moment before answering, tugging a second time at his cap, thinking up a quick excuse,

"Senior detective asked me to pick up some files, but I got confused where was the archive.. " He said, lowering his voice.

"Tsk...You still have a lot to learn. It the fifth room to the right. The end of the corridor on the ninth floor."

He said before leaving with Mina. He looked at their leaving backs for a moment. That was when Mina turned her head, glancing at him before she left.

Now that they were gone, he began running up the emergency staircase. Taking the elevator was an obvious no of course. It didn't take him much to reach the floor. Thanking his luck for the hallway for being empty, he slowly began walking to the right corridor till he reached the end.

A board that said "Archives " in big letters was hung over the grey locked door. .

Pulling out fake contact lenses, he scanned the iris scanner, opening the door with no hitch and began searching for the folder.

It didn't take much time as he soon found it on the third shelf he searched.

09 ... 010....011..011! There

He carefully removed it from the array, making sure nothing fell as he carefully walked out of the room. That was when the sudden footsteps that were approaching made him crouch down in the shadows of the unlit hallway.

It seemed a group was walking his direction. He looked around, other than that window, there was nothing else in the entire corridor. That was when he the light in a room, the only one who's door was opened. He realized that it was the police officers lounge. He'd be caught in no time. There was no other way now.

"Clatter!!!"

The officers who had just walked in suddenly heard voice down the hallway, in the direction of the file archives. .

"What's that?" The senior in the group asked.

"We'll go see "

The juniors rushed towards the direction they had heard the noise from.

"Yah! It's just the open window, that old fart was just making us run " One of them grumbled as he closed the window.

Seojin breathed a sigh of relief as he crouched on the window shade outside. H e was still put of breath from how he had ran towards the window, jumping out onto the shade. He couldn't surely go back up now, so he looked around, thankfully he had the file with him.

Once assured that it was sturdy, he slowly slid down the metal pipe near the shade he was on. Dropping the ID on the same bench, he walked around the blind spot before exiting.

'Done. Now just submission'

Wearing his mask and large framed glasses, Seojin walked away as if he hadn't just jumped the district police office's wall.

It was already midnight by the time he had changed and packed his stuff. He was now at a convenience store, waiting for his noodles to be prepared as he opened his phone, sending the reply code into his Pager. As soon as he sent it, his phone buzzed again with a call from Christian. He picked it up, surprised at how the guy was calling him late.

'Did they guess it...I was sure I didn't look suspicious...'

With all these thoughts, he swiped down on the green button. As soon as he did, he could hear Christian's voice from the other side. And with all the noise, it seemed to be on the loud speaker.

"Hyung!, when are you coming?? It's already so late! "

"Ahh, Chris, sorry I didn't call you guys before... Did you guys eat dinner? I hope instructions were clear, I was in a hurry so I couldn't recheck everything."

That was when he saw a group of boys outside the store. It seemed that they were laughing on something. He quickly paid and got out, standing near the group, making sure the noise they were making was clearly audible on the phone.

"We did hyung, you don't need to worry and the instructions were clear. So when are you coming back? "

Christian asked, after assuring that him.

"And it seems you have company hyung...? "

Christian continued, more of a statement than a question.

"Ah Yea... Some of my other old friends also joined, we are planning to stay at one of their houses. So. I won't be back today, I'll be home by tomorrow afternoon. Tell the others not to worry okay. "

Seojin replied, relived that standing near the crowd worked, after all he couldn't return today since the transport was closed.

Ending the call, Christian looked at the rest five who had been hovering around the phone.

"It seems he really is with his friends"

Christian spoke, wide eyed as he looked at them.

"Yeah. This seems convincing. I guess we were all just over thinking."

Ryan shrugged before walking away.

"Hyung you are worried over nothing. Jin hyung isn't on a mission. "

Cyril patted the elder on the shoulder before he went back to his seat on the couch.

"I guess "

Yeon said before he walked away, even though he himself was unable to shake off the weird feeling he was having.
