A Sweet Whisper

My body felt numb, my senses were non-responsive nor could I feel the world around me. I wondered if I was dead, but that couldn't possibly have made sense.

The world that surrounded my being was silent like I had become deaf, I couldn't even hear my heart beat... I wondered how long I had been there and thought that maybe all those people and places were stories. Of coarse I denied the idea, it had all seemed so real... too real.

"Nathan..."

A whisper echoed through my mind and I tried to move or even make a sound but my body remained frozen and silent. Each time I heard my name, that voice became louder and more desperate. But I could only listen and focus on... her voice. My mind raced, filling with images of a young lady, her hair was a dark brown and her eyes, filled with joy, a cyan colour. She stood in my memory while I held her hand and then, I saw her ring...

"Satrena?..." I weakly muttered to the empty abyss, whatever strenght I had was not enough for me to say her name again. A comforting warmth surrounded my body, making me feel safe but my sight was not there. I could feel that Satrena was trembling as she held me. My heart was breaking as I listened, unable to respond, to her cries and whispers.

"Nathan... Please, I need you."

I opened my eyes, feeling overwhelmed with exhuastion. Suddenly, my throat filled with liquid and some of my strenght returned. I feebly fell to my side, caughing out a thick, black liquid that quickly disappeared to smoke and my body trembled as my muscles became weak once more. Then, I felt her embrace around my body tighten and her choked sobs.

"Thank Availeh... I thought I lost you, love." She said, her voice muffled as she spoke into my side. As I caught my breath, I felt my strenght slowly return and I lifted my head to see her. Then she looked up at me, her bloodshot eyes filled with tears and then she quickly pushed her self up, wrapping her arms around my neck as she weeped into my chest, I was caught off guard and fell onto my back. I weakly wrapped my arms around her body and closed my eyes as I felt my lungs fill with air. "Don't worry, I won't leave you... ever again." I whispered.

We remained on the ground, silently feeling each others embrace. I felt my heart beat in my chest and I could feel hers too. It felt awfully strange to hold someone again, but I wished this feeling would never end. My body felt strange, especially the fact that I was back to normal. I leaned my head back against the ground and stared at the blue sky above us, breathing in the forest air. I wondered how long I had been the way I was. In that body.

"Nathan..." Satrena spoke in a whispered voice. "Yes, sweetie. What's on your mind?" I asked, opening my eyes as I felt her move from my chest and sat next to me. I sat up and streched out my legs, feeling them start to tingle. Then, I turned my full attention to Satrena, gazing at her cyan eyes as they glistened in the warm morning light and watched her hair fall before them as she looked up at me. "Nathan, I was so scared I'd lose you forever." Her voice pitched as she looked at the ground, I cupped her check and guided her to look up at me, "Satrena, you won't lose me and I'll protect you, I promise." She lean forward into my arms and muttered words I couldn't understand, but all I wanted was to hold her. Wrapping my arms around her, I held her tightly.

After what seemed like seconds, she broke from our hug and looked me in the eyes once again. "I need to show you something." She said and stood up, offering me her hand. I smiled, taking her hand and she helped my onto my feet. "Lead the way my love." I said, centering myself. She pulled on my hand as she lead me through trees.

A few minutes passed as we walked through the forest, following a some what familiar path. I silently wander after her, making sure that she was always in my sight. The world around us seemed so peaceful, birds sang as a soft wind whistled through the trees. I stared up at the trees, noticing a small blue bird hop inbetween the branches.

"Beautiful, isn't she?" Satrena spoke, she smiled in her words. I turned my attention to her, a warm tenderness filled my chest and I hummed in agreeance. She softly laughed as we walked onwards.

I spotted a vibrant red rose and quickly snatched it from inbetween the thorned bushes. I swiftly strutted to Satrena's side, hiding the rose behind my back. I turned to her, gentlely taking a hold of her hand and then quickly stepped in front of her, stopping her in her tracks. She stared up at me with a confused expression, as I stood before her.

I knelt down, like I did once before and held the flower out before her. The world around us ushered into a silent wind. Satrena looked at me, surpise written on her face and her cyan eyes looked like a nova star. I held the flower tightly, taking a deep breath.

"Satrena, I love you for all of the eternity and no distance nor god could change that. You are the only reason I could ever need to live, to fight and to hope." I said, tears threatening to spill from my eyes. I dropped my head, feeling the pain of losing her flood my lungs and then, tears streamed from my eyes as I felt my soul ache. My hand trembled as I held the flower, then, a warm hand embraced mine. Her arms wrapped around my weakened shoulders, I lifted my head, tears blurring my sight.

"I will always love you, Nathan," her word were gentle and her voice like an angel, "I won't let you do this alone." She said, her voice sturn yet faint. She wipped my tears, her hand warm and soft against my skin.

We remaimed on the cold soil path for a moment, her warmth soothed my mind.

"Hey, are you okay, love?" She asked, pulling away and lifting my head. My eyes burned but I managed to smile, she made me feel strong. I pulled back, wipping the remaining tears from my eyes as I took slow and deep breaths.

As I stood up and centred myself, Sartena placed her hand on my shoulder, "I promise, you'll never have to do this alone." She said as she gently squeezed my shoulder. I looked into her cyan eyes, as I nodded. "Alright, let's go, I don't want to keep stopping us." I said, taking a deep breath.

She smiled, then nodded and took me hand. Satrena lead me through the peaceful forest and soon we came to a road, it looked almost familiar. I caught myself fixated on the familiarities of this broken road, littered with sticks and dryed up leaves.

Suddenly, I was pulled from my thoughts and saw Satrena standing before me. She tilted her head, egging me to follow. I didn't hesitate and followed after her into a small clearing. I froze in wonder as I stared at the ruined arch, the light beeming through the cracks of the pillars. I felt as though I did not belong here, the arch itself loombed ominously over the forest roof.

"How did no one know about this," I thought to myself, feeling that this was something to be lost for a reason.

Suddenly, the arch sparked to life, an ocean like doorway apeared it the center as I and Satrena stepped back...
