"Hurry up, hurry up!"
"hey hey slow down a bit will ya"
"I ain't slowing down, I gotta see the fireworks and display up close this time around"
"There's still about ten minutes till midnight, at least don't run like you're being chased"
"Too late, I ain't stopping now, it's just up ahead"
"*sigh*"
At 11:50pm, December 31st, times square seemed to be as overly congested as the space could, but it didn't seem absurd at all, since the fireworks and display to be witnessed during the crossover was one of the most beautiful ones all over the world. Chilly as it was, that didn't stop people from coming out to the square to have a look at the beauty of the festival.
Every single person out there had a bright smile on their faces, talking either to someone beside or to someone on the phone or just staring at the exquisite placements of the fireworks. The locals took it upon themselves to organize a fundraiser for the event, they felt that way the people will feel more attachment to it since they all put in a dollar or two. "Okay everybody!" a man walked up to the temporary podium erected for any addressing of any sort. "Look! Its Icon" "I love his music so much, the committee really did well this time around" " I have to get his autograph after this"
The crowd got frenzied up when they recognized the man on the podium, a relatively famous artist was called to start the countdown". As you can all see we have just around twenty till the start of the new year when its start the countdown, let's get started in 10, 9, 8..." the big clock on the tower seemed to ring different in accordance to the people's visible emotions "5!, 4!, 3!.." They were all barely holding it in, happiness could be seen on their faces, it was a blessing for them to witness the end and beginning of a new cycle of seasons, of joy and good news… and hope. They would never had expected what was to come "2!.." as they were about to countdown to the last one and yell at the top of their voices, right in front of the fireworks a sharp sound was heard like something was being torn apart and then they saw it... Black with no other color, long claws and a single horn to complete what looked like and could only be called an abomination of a big degree, literally big coming through the portal it seemed small at first, like an average human height but as it stretched out it's form it rapidly grew causing the whole crowd to raise their heads slowly as they wandered what exactly was going on, at its final height it was as tall as thirty feet and as wide as two of those mega buses you would see plying the road… *sniff, sniff* it peculiarly flat yet pointed nose seemed to tremble and contract "'i smell so much food, lucky me'", a voice came out of it with a language no one understood, and then it raised it's head and opened it's eyes, the darkest shade of black that could be seen sparkling like orbs. At this point although it looked like minutes had passed due to what was happening, it only took a split second for everything to happen and when it looked like that was all at the moment another portal opened up and the same creature stepped out and with an expression that looked like a grin he spoke to the first "' there's a lot of them but we have to leave for the others and the higher-ups, so it's a race between who can eat more of them, let some of them run don't chase, the others will soon join us'", "'grr... that's a lot of words and less eating already, let's dig in…'".
At this point nobody could process anything, neither the loud chiming of the bell behind the giant clock on the tower could be heard, nor did anyone notice that the fireworks didn't go out like they, it felt like the arrival of these two monsters had taken away all the normality and happiness that could be seen before, too bad because they won't be able to feel happiness for a fairly long while because at this point the two monsters moved and it was until the first reached to grab the nearest human in his view and then brutally impale him with his claws and to their horrors turned him into a dried up corpse in less than a second did they realize that things just took a wrong turn, it wasn't clear who started first but everybody turned and tried to run as fast as possible away from it. "' idiotic creatures, never leave your backside unprotected when you run'" with a ridiculing expression, the monster moved again but was beaten by its comrade as it rushed towards a target and did the same thing as the first monster draining the body dry. The massacre had begun and it was completely one-sided, screams and pain-filled yells had already started to sound out as they all tried to push through and get out from there. A national alarm was ringing out, ringing out through the entire nations, it wasn't only at times-square those monsters arrived at, they were everywhere, one unlucky city was wiped out under thirty minutes when a dozens of the monsters appeared there at the same time, guns and grenades could hardly do much damage to them, only when the heavy weapons were brought out did they seem to have an effect on them, but it only seemed stable for a while… until more tears appeared in the surrounding space and more of these abominations charged out
"Chief we can't hold on for a long time, we have to retreat while we hold them off"
"Retreat to where, we'll just be bringing more of them with us, we have to hold till the teams from the special legions are sent over, we can st..huk!! ahh!"
"Chief!"
As the body of the stern chief rapidly shrinked, the monster behind him was revealed and the tear in space was noticed behind the monster, they had neglected the fact that these creatures could pop out of anywhere at any time, it was a disastrous situation and because of the suddenness of the attack and the loss of their commander everything fell apart and they were all wiped out.
When the government realized they couldn't handle this alone they reached out to their allies in other countries and pleaded for help but to their dismay they realized that they weren't the only ones under attack, the whole world had fallen into a crisis, the only word that could describe the situation today was Doomsday it was the day that the world had its biggest fight ever. It was unnoticeable in developed areas where there was scarce vegetation but in places were agriculture was at its prime, it was more of a nightmare to them than other places, where ever those monsters passed by the grass would slowly wither, the flowers would lose their colors and the fruits would begin to rot, it was like they not only came to devour and kill, they also came to poison their precious mother earth, they were slowly killing her. The situation fell into a stalemate when the people and army started to gather around in a single location, strengthening their resistance, but they could only resist they had no single hope of fighting back as the numbers of the monsters didn't dwindle much and they was even a little increase occasionally when more monsters joined them through the tears in space, luckily the people started to be able to hold their ground when the satellites in space was able to pinpoint the pattern of the appearance of the tears in space. Since the possibility of the monsters popping up within their ranks became non-existent, they were able to focus wholeheartedly on the ones in front. The concept of days was almost forgotten as the fight was beginning to stretch out into weeks and months with no side seeming to be falling quickly, communication was established and assistance to weakning countries and cities was rendered by those sides that had stable defence. But nature didn't seem to be fairing well in those unprotected areas as slowly the dark and corruptive from the monsters began wearing it out, taking a clear picture from the skies you could notice the difference in color and abundance of nature from the first day to the present time. Reconnaissance teams were sent out on paths avoiding the areas the monsters popped up to secure anything vital, whether it was survivors, equipment or anything of possible importance. Everything seemed steady until another unexpected situation popped up and more tears appeared almost simultaneously some on land and some… in the skies and from those in the skies, a different type of monsters came out, with blood-red claws and two horns on their heads, they seemed a little smaller in comparison to the first ones but the people who saw them knew them to be stronger, with black and red wings on their backs once they came out they immediately suppressed those ones on the ground and became like leaders of the squad of monsters. Due to their sudden appearance the loss of cities resurfaced again and the people quickly fell into despair again, they realized that they were nowhere near the end of this fight against invasion. The smart ones among humanity realized that there will be more who will come and part of them will be those who are even stronger than these flying monsters that emerged, at this point everything seemed bleak but like they say humanity had a natural disposition towards survival and tenacity, they kept fighting and waiting for the point when stronger ones will come through the tears in space to come and destroy...
A figure could be seen moving along an expanse of wilting grass, no it wasn't a shadow it was a human, but the appearance of the human looked like one that had been moving through the desert for days on end. He felt terrible at the moment, the memories of the destruction of the place he once called home passed through his head, he was one of the lucky people who didn't need to move or run away from where his home was, Cincinnati was a lucky city, since the pattern of appearance of those tears never coincided with it and the nearest tear to it was a little far off, so when the people from destroyed cities came over to stay they were already relatively prepared for It and were able to hold off against them. It quickly became one of the recognized places to go to seek shelter with the places immediately around it. Until the emergence of the winged abominations that were at least three times stronger than the ones without wings. The city came under attack of a large number of the monsters on the ground led by two of those winged monsters, and when they assumed they could hold on against them all it took was the winged duo to fly over and drop into the city and the instant decimation of the city followed. When they saw that they could not hold off against the monsters the people in command of the city issued a "pack and run" towards one of the nearest cities, one thing that the humans noticed was that whenever the people had a large amount of them killed and they then chose to run the monsters never ran after them. It was like they intentionally chose to leave them to survive and could decide to attack at any point. Although it gave the humans breathing space, a lingering fear was always there, wondering when they would choose to fully wipe out humanity. As the people within Cincinnati chose to run as usual their luck ran out when they met a huge of wild animals that had transformed into what they called the corrupted species, this happens when the unassuming wild animals consumed something with a strong concentration of the monsters aura and thus changed because of it, the monsters seemed to avoid killing much of the animals and seemed to instead transform them into corrupted species at their command, these animals who already had strong physiques without any changes to them experienced a vast increase in their overall physical abilities and became deadly weapons against humanity but the monsters never chose to release them on the cities possibly to avoid drastic losses of human that seemed to go against their plans. And their holding the monsters back seemed to be the safest decision in favor of the humans because the monsters unleashed complete and overwhelming might and fierceness on the people and almost no one survived, no one except him and he regretted that because he could only leave due to the sacrifice of his squad members to allow him to run as they felt that it would be the best appreciation they could give to him, a torturous chance at a second life, he regretted it but he couldn't resist since he wasn't the only one given this chance to live and he had to reach the next city to inform of the fall but now it seemed like he was already lost when he couldn't concentrate due to the decision of his now lost team mates. Already weak due to the over exertion of the fight he knew he would probably join them in the after-life and fail their hope and trust in him, then the tears started dropping and he could only cry as the weak man he was now and lament at the terrible loss that had accumulated over time for humans. He was lost in thought that he didn't notice the change in environment and atmosphere around him. He had unknowingly entered a place with trees and bushes and flowers everywhere with extremely vibrant colors which a rare sight in a place where there weren't any humans present, they had realized the importance of vegetations and nature ever since the beginning of the attack but they were helpless against the places that they had no hold of and there didn't seem to be any human here except him, but he didn't notice all this yet and kept walking forward with lost eyes. Splash!
He came to realization when he stepped into a slightly large pond, but that didn't make him notice much as he just stared at the surface of the water and looked at the face looking right back at him with grey roughed up hair and then he looked up at his surroundings and realized the beauty of nature that he hardly saw for months now, and he really cherished it now wishing all this wasn't happening. He raised his head to the skies and spoke with a slightly hoarse voice to the skies
"You're up there watching down on us, I never doubted it, only believed in it..."
"You created us for a purpose, to worship you and you did it to the best of your abilities although I can't dare to think of where the limits of your powers lay, out of all humans right now, there are many who have lost their beliefs in you but there are some who still believe in your existence, I do believe in you and I never doubted you either, Lord you are the one who can stop this, who can end this, maybe this is a test for us humans, probably for you to see how much we can fight against, but please this is so much loss, I can't watch this happening and I can't take my life either because I have other people's hopes on me and I have my hope on you Lord... please do something…"
At the end of what he said he knelt on the ground and had tears in his eyes as he wondered why the creator he believes has control over this seems to just watch on, then he heard something
"*sigh* at long last the faithful has come to redeem what has been lost"
"Yes he has come and I can almost be moved enough to help him out"
"You have no power over this you know, you cannot interfere in the matters of those created with a purpose by the creator"
"Alas I know that and I am powerless against it, I was just in a moment of extreme emotions"
"One who can make us feel to the extreme, he really is the one to come and bring about the unsealing, I feel so excited to witness it all"
He was startled "who's there!", "who are you guys?" he looked at the beings he noticed the voices came from with vigilance
"Fret not, we can't be able to cause harm to you even if we want to, notice we are we different from those who threaten your existence"
"Your sincerity has been witnessed by us and you're the one we were awoken for"
"Step over and beyond to receive what is rightfully yours and unseal the power you desire to fight back"
Confused and lost he looked at them with a lost expression and when he saw the seven of them part in the middle, he looked through the middle and saw it and he felt it, the connection him and the beautiful orb with a symbol and was floating in mid-air releasing dazzling light
It was at that moment that the one to lead humanity awakened and began his rise, he will be the bane of the abominations, the leader of the unsealed Earth.
