'It still feels like a dream to me, was all what he said true?...*sigh*', he knew he couldn't lie to himself about the situation, but the whole thing just felt so surreal, he couldn't help but want to doubt, 'Sovereigns and realms with gods… this looks so messed up', what Isen told him today was too much for his undeveloped mind, but the guy who only told him his name after not answering for over two hours didn't seem to bother, no, it was more like he had no other choice than to listen. He learnt a lot from it and he felt enlightened on some questions he always thought about it. "Damn!, I just wanted to live up to expectation and make my father proud, but saving the world, this sounds so much like a fantasy novel, and I haven't even read one of those things yet.", it was a new and unexpected thing for Jaden and he didn't know how he felt about it, but he couldn't help but feel anxious.
'In any way, I need to finish packing', it was three days after the meeting in the woods, Matthew called and told him to start packing to leave the next day for the test at the academy. The excitement he had been feeling the first time Matthew told him about was dampened by the thoughts of recent events.
"Jaden!, Matthew is here, are you ready?"
'He's here!', the disappearing excitement within him was immediately rejuvenated
"Just give me a minute, I'll be down soon"
He finished packing quickly and opened the door to his room as he was about to step through the door he couldn't help but look back at the room that he knew he won't be seeing any time soon, "If what Astral said was correct then I'll be making my name known in the world very soon, I'll make sure of it". And then the door closed behind his back and the room seemed to become a little less lively.
"There you are, now Jaden, I'm sorry for the rush but you have to quickly say goodbye to your mom and we'll be on our way", " I understand" he didn't exactly understand but he could guess that Matthew probably had a lot of work to do and was barely able to squeeze time out to come over here, he couldn't help to more gratitude to Matthew and then he turned to the woman standing at his side who had been taking care of him for the entirety of his life and hugged her as tightly as possible, he knew he was going to miss her, "I promise to see you as soon as possible, I'll be back to bring you the good news" those were the only words that could leave his mouth, but Kate could see the rest of the words deep within his eyes, his grey eyes that could only resemble his father's, "I know, I'll be waiting so you better don't be late." , "… I won't"
Matthew could only look on anxiously as he waited for the show of love to end, after watching them for a while, he was forced to remember the memories of his good friend and mentor, he was always able to see Xander whenever he looked his child, it wasn't due to the resemblance of each other but a kind of feeling he always felt whenever he faced Xander, he was sad to break it up, but they were running late, "*cough*, we have go now Jaden, you won't be missing her for a long time, so let's go"
"Alright", he replied and removed himself from the embrace, he was going to miss her warmth but he had no other choice. "Go on sweetheart, I'll see you soon", Maria finally spoke up with a smile on her face, and they all went out through the door with Jaden taking another look at what he was going to leave behind and then the door closed behind their backs.
As they came to where the red floater was parked, Jaden suddenly came to and realized he was going to be riding in a flying car for the first time in his life, he couldn't help but get excited and then Matthew's voice rang out, "Get in kid". As he reached the side of the floater, he couldn't help but pause as he couldn't find any handle or space to open the door with, Matthew noticed the situation but just grinned quietly and placed his palm on the door at his side, a subtle glow flashed in between his hand and the door and then the door moved in accordance to the direction of his hand moving and opened up, and also opening up on Jaden's side. Jaden had to calm his emotions down, it was still a very thrilling experience for him. As the doors came back down and closed up, he couldn't but look around the interior of the car, there were shuttle buses to go around within the city but he never owned a personal ride so this was somewhat of a new experience for him, Matthew noticing his intrigue smiled and asked "never been in a floater before uhn?", that brought his concentration back to the man as he realize he was staring like a country bumpkin, not like he wasn't anyways, embarrassed he replied "no sir", "come on now, don't call me that, uncle Matt, Matthew, Matt, whatever you could think of as a name for me but not sir, we're closer than that right", hearing that brought a smile on Jaden's face "I suppose not".
At this point Jaden noticed they were already moving through the skies, he looked through the back window and realized he couldn't see anything that he recognized anymore, leaning back on his seat it hit him again, everything was changing, it won't ever be the same, he didn't know what the future had in store for him but he was going to try his best to make the best of it all, he wasn't going to disappoint those who believed in him again. Thinking up to here he looked towards Matthew who seemed to have some thoughts on his mind, the floater didn't need much maneuvering unless you intended to just drive through the clouds aimlessly, a few small turns once in a while and trying to avoid as much clouds as possible was all he was doing, so he decided to speak up, "could you tell me about my father". The voice came into his thoughts and hearing the question he couldn't help feeling melancholic "there are so many things about him, what do you wanna know?,", the next question made him a little surprised, "how was his rise to the top?", he had a little talk with Kate the two times he met her again, she told him that she always avoided discussing about his father because it always made her too sad and she worried he would be blinded with hate and lose his way, so how was he asking this now, "what do you mean". Ijin realized he slipped up so he reconstructed his words "My mother always told me he was a very great man, she didn't tell me any other thing but he should have reached the top of the world if he was a very great man right?", the expression on Matthew's face eased up as he heard that then he started talking, "you're right he did rise to the top, and it was a brilliant rise, it's not something to be described, I could take you back in time to see it but that would be a little far-fetched right.", after saying that he kept quiet and kept his sight on the clouds moving in somewhat of a blur in front of him. Noticing the now obvious avoidance of the topic, Ijin couldn't help but feel more doubts and confusion within him, he remembered what the Buddha lookalike guy who called himself Astral told him the other day…
{Your father was chosen for his empathy towards his fellow people and the hidden determination within him, it was the only requirement of the last sovereign, he was given the Sovereign's essence, not as simple as it sounds though because the essence is more than it sounds, you see the essence is a source of power, a kind of inextinguishable source that requires talent and perseverance to wield it, the original line of the sovereigns had been cut off so it was assumed that it would be impossible to wield anymore, but due to the fact that all humans originated from the first sovereign himself, perhaps that was what allowed your father to be able to wield it, and he wielded it well. You are his son and since he accepted the essence it was naturally passed on to you, you and your descendants would be the new line of sovereigns that would be the one to lead this world, but keep in mind that with a power like that there is bound to be those whose greed would lead them to wanting to snatch it, it is said that the first sovereign was bestowed the essence by the one above us all, an existence we cannot speak of, hence those with high enough can take it away by force, naturally a fully grown sovereign would decimate any and all with the thoughts of that before they can even get close, but you are not fully grown, the burst of energy that Ego forced out of you was nothing but an instinctive independent will, not even close to being able to barely wield it. Your father was the same as he had just received it and those who know of it would be bound to chase after him, I reckon you learn more about your father and his life, he's dead and it wasn't natural, it's up to you to decide whether you intend to give his soul rest or you ignore it all the same…}
When he heard everything to that point, he felt confusion and became lost in thoughts, it was hard for him to concentrate on what Astral said afterwards, noticing that, he told him to leave the rest of the talk for another day. Till today the thought of it still left him confused, but now he knew that something really did happen to his father and it seemed to him that those around him knew about it but decided against telling him about it, he couldn't understand why either. 'If none of you are willing to tell me about it, I'll find out about it myself", he had a new goal in mind but he knew since no one was willing to let him know, it would be hard and trying, but he was shrinking from it because of something like that. No longer in the mood for a conversation he laid back his head with wariness and thoughts spinning in his head, it was unknown when he closed his eyes and entered the dream world he hadn't been seeing in a while.
"Rise and shine lad, wouldn't want missing the sight"
The voice of the red haired man woke him up and he opened his eyes to look at Matthew, still a bit dazed he spoke confused "Uhh?", more like a grumble though.
"Look ahead kid and tell me what you think"
Getting more clear headed he looked forward like he was told to and like it was a lie, the evidence of sleepiness on his face cleared as he became wide-eyed.
"What do you think"
"...Woah".
"I thought as much.."
