Chapter 7— Miracle wants attention

Mimi Chikezie came out of the toilet after using it. The toilet was quiet and the other doors were open, she was probably the only one in the toilet. There had been two other girls when she entered that was why she even decided to use the toilet instead of going back to class.

She sighed. She hadn't wanted to come by herself because of the lady koi koi incident, yet she didn't dare ask Ireti.

Ireti was obviously still angry with her because she laughed when Helen mocked her that morning and she had not been talking to her since then.

She shouldn't have laughed at Ireti.

They were both loners, so Ireti was her only friend.

She went to the tap to wash her hand.

Loner plus loner made two… she was confused made two what? She couldn't tell. All she knew was that immediately she had seen Ireti the loner in her had recognized the loner in Ireti and immediately latched on to Ireti.

Except maybe Ireti wasn't truly a loner. Maybe are desperation had seen that it would have been hard for Ireti to make friends with the rich girls in her class and had quickly befriended her to prevent her from trying. Still, that hadn't stop Michael, he still liked her.

Michael. She sighed.

God, wasn't he just handsome.

But no, no matter what she did, he never noticed her. Only the Helens and Eniolas.

She shook her head.

But he noticed Ireti, poor and destitute Ireti.

The girl couldn't even afford to buy a small can of Fanta.

Ireti annoyed her but she was the only one willing to be her friend and so she stayed with her for now.

She looked down and saw that the tap was still running. She stopped the water.

She looked at her face in the mirror. Was she not more beautiful than Ireti?

She thought she saw a shadow move towards the door.

She turned back sharply to see who it was but no one was there.

She called out. "Who is there?

No one answered.

She shrugged, perhaps someone had entered during her musing.

She turned the tap on again to rinse her hand.

Koi, koi.

She stilled.

What was that?

Koi

"who is there?"

No one answered.

Things were getting creepy. She turned to leave and the toilet's light flickered and went off. She ran towards the door before she could touch it. She heard a click.

She tried opening the door but it was stuck.

She turned the door handle several times, the door didn't open.

Koi, koi.

Was someone inside with her or was the sound coming from outside.

Koi, koi.

She banged on the door.

Koi, koi, koi, the sound was getting closer.

She banged harder.

"Help, someone help" she screamed.

Koi, koi, koi

She was going to die. She was going to die

"Someone please help" she was crying and the tears were blinding her vision.

She banged on the door.

The door suddenly pushed open. It hit her and pushed her back.

Someone came inside with a torchlight.

It was Ireti. She pointed her light at Mimi.

"What's going on here Mimi?"

Ireti" Mimi cried out and flung herself on Ireti

She was quivering.

"You are shaking? What happened? Were you the one calling for help?"

"I think Lady Koi Koi was here" she was still crying. she saw the look of question on Ireti's face and said.

"lets get out of here first" she told Ireti.

She said sheepishly. "Sorry, did you come to use the toilet?" It occurred to her that Ireti must have come to use the toilet too.

"No"

Suspicion tinged in Mimi's eyes. "So, what are you doing here?"

Well, I saw when you left the class. When the power went out I came to look for you. You hate the dark remember?"

Mimi felt bad. "I am sorry for laughing at you today"

Ireti didn't need to ask her what she was talking about. She already knew.

She shrugged. "It's okay. You couldn't have done anything for me. Helen would have eaten you up."

They left the toilet and walked to their class.

When they got there, Several torchlight were on and the class was bright. Some Students were bent over their books while some slept and others discussed in low tunes.

Michael noticed Mimi shaking.

His chair was beside Ireti's.

"Are you feeling well, mimi?"

She threw herself at Michael. Fortunately he caught her.

"Lady koi koi tried to kill me."

God, this boy smelt good.

He patted her on her back and released her.

"What do you mean by Lady koi koi tried to kill you?"

He looked suspicious.

The class had quietened and even the little mutterings had stopped.

"I was in the toilet, when she made the light go off and then she locked the door. I also heard the koi koi sound too." She started crying again.

She looked around and saw how everyone stared at her in shock. Some even had slight fear on their faces.

She smiled secretly, Perhaps she would be famous now. Everyone would be talking about what happened to her .

A loud laugh suddenly rent the air breaking the silence.

It was Helen.

"Oh my God" she held her stomach and fell against her chair. Her body was quivering from laughter.

"Kai kai, Mimi, who do you expect will believe that your cock and bull story?"

She mimicked her. "She locked the door, the light went off, then I heard the sound of her shoe." She repeated all this in a nasal tone. "what do you think this is?"

Helen seatmate, Obinna answered laughing. "Better Africa Magic reloaded"

Abigail snickered. "Girl, if you wanted to lie, you could at least have made your own believable like Chibunna."

"I tire oh, did you see the way she flew into Michael's arms. Shameless goat" Helen said.

Everyone laughed.

Michael looked like he wanted to say something but must have thought better of it because he kept quiet.

Tears streamed down Mimi's face. " I am not lying, you can ask Ireti"

Michael looked at Ireti and said. "Is this true?"

"You know both of them are friends they have probably cooked up what to say" Helen disagreed.

Ireti voice came out tiny. "I don't know, I didn't go to the toilet with her but when I went there, the door wasn't locked because I opened it easily and the bathroom was dark but power was out in the whole school."

Helen asked, "Did you hear Lady koi koi?"

"I didn't hear anything" she hesitated. "but I heard Mimi shouting for help when I was at the door and she looked really shaken"

"I know people like you, Mimi. You will do anything for attention" Helen said.

Mimi went to her seat and sobbed.

The rest of the class broke into conversation about her.
