"The thread." The girl asked, raising her brows. "Is it from a friend?"
Beth immediately relaxed. The system must have changed its appearance again, sensing the danger, she thought, letting out a sigh of relief. She had thought that she was surely going to lose her head this time around.
"Yeah." She answered, forcing a nervous smile on her face. "You could say so."
Though she felt her voice falter at the lie, she didn't think that the matron noticed it. The girl had a distant look in her eyes as she kept staring at her. It was as if she was seeing something else in her place or maybe someone else.
The matron nodded. "You're the first one to come in here wanting to stay away from Ra'ad. So I thought you'd have someone else in mind already." She said, looking away.
"Ahh, well." Beth chuckled, looking at her hand. "He is kind of special."
