Always on my birthdays I received many letters that my mother very gladly read them to me and let me keep them in a secret place so I could see them and read them whenever I wanted, my mother decided to let me write a letter to my aunt and uncle one day, since it was special because on June 15 was my aunt Laura's birthday and so I wrote a letter, although I knew that my mother would write it again translating what it said there. My mother kept being informed about my aunt Amanda and she was still sure that soon or maybe very soon something bad would happen.
Indeed as my mother's saying goes 'when the river sounds it is because it brings stones' although instead of a river it seemed like a waterfall, Amanda was really close and had managed to locate where we lived and when my mother had her birthday on a beautiful 4th of August a sunny day with clear skies , The first one was from my aunt Laura and uncle William since they used to write the letter between the two of them in case of celebration and that is why only one letter was sent, the 2nd was from my great uncle Emiliano who was sending us kisses and letting us know that he would soon travel to Scotland, the 3rd was from my grandfather, the 4th was from my great aunt Florencia who said that she had a special gift and she would try to go during the week, 5 was from my cousin Pierre and his wife Carmen who said she would travel with the aunt to meet her, 6 she looked it up and down as she wondered who could have written it and for a moment she thought maybe Carmen had copied her, when she thought of Crete she took it back as Laura's letter also signed Crete.
Mom did not know what to do, so she said to herself
Orchid: "I'm sure it's from Pierre's wife, that's what it is".
She opened it curious since it was the first time the girl would copy a letter and Mom saw it as a nice gesture and when she opened it her face changed color and while she took a deep breath she took strength to read.
Orchid Whisper: "*Congratulations on your day, I hope and you are enjoying it little sister, I was looking for you for years, yes you were smart to go to a retired place from Monaco and Spain, I thought you would go to France with aunt Florence, who by the way she also no longer lives in France, she decided to live in Greece near her son and his wife which is very beautiful, I could not attend the wedding but they told me how beautiful it was, I could see your wedding from close so close I was a few steps away from you and you looked very beautiful and happy; The only wedding I could not see was the one of our little sister Laura, but I know she has a beautiful son and two beautiful girls. We will see each other sooner than you expect and I hope and remember that I always keep my words, Amanda.*"
That letter fell on her as cold as cold water and the birthday that promised to be joyful turned out to be as sad as a rain, even though we tried to cheer her up it was difficult since hearing again from that person that she thought would never again cause problems in Laura's or Aunt Florencia's life, or herself did not turn out to be so and she knew that now is when things would become more difficult or nightmarish.
My father could not do much I tried to get them to look for her and warn them about someone who seemed suspicious to see if they could locate her and see how they could solve the matter, logically neither mom nor dad told us what had them worried, so much so that mom found it hard to sleep.
Even though I tried to get some sleep I woke up every day at the same time at 4:14 am, logically I did not pay attention to it, I took the opportunity to get some milk in silence and drink some to go back to sleep; this trick did not always help me because when I tried to sleep I only rested my eyesight.
A week went by and I was still the same, my mother sometimes had nightmares, I managed to sneak away to hear my parents' conversation although I knew very well that it was bad manners, but I was so worried about my mother that I did not give it any importance. I found out the name of my other aunt named Amanda, and then I left without being heard by my parents, but I didn't even realize that the twins had seen me and that would bring me trouble in due time.
At first they asked me and I thought my siblings were worried just like me, so I told them what I had heard from our parents; I trusted my 3 siblings to tell them everything without knowing that in the future it would go well or badly for me.
Years went by and on each of our birthdays we received a gift and a letter from 'aunt Amanda', which my mother read and burned the letters and that way she could calm down, my father opted for a more drastic measure, without reading her letters he would burn them and although my mother was against it he had to give in to dad's word and I agreed, although my parents didn't know that a few months before I had managed to read the letters and tell the twins a lie together with my older sister, I don't know why I did it but I felt I had to do it.
