[8 years Later]
[Akio's Pov]
It was eight years ago since I was reincarnated again to my old world after being given Rob's skills to survive in this pre-petrification era caused by the Great Wiping. And as Rob said throughout the eight-years I had lived in this era, it would seem that the level of technology in this era have degraded to a degree similar to the stone age that Akio had learned before.
However peculiarly, Akio found that although the technology had degraded to that of the stone age in the post-petrification era, some social cultures and some technology that could not have been achieved in the stone age had remained relatively the same, as Akio found that as before the Great Wiping, the primary language still used was Japanese in the village he was born in. Besides the language, Akio also learned that the writing, slang, and even some references to some popular media from the pre-petrification era were still being used in this time.
And some technologies such as swords, bows, slingshots, etc., have been maintained in the village that I had been reincarnated in. When I had asked my Mother about the village's technologies similar to that of a curious child, she started teaching me many things about the village's history. Because after seeing my interest in the village's history, my mother Anise was excited about her younger days before getting married to Father, the village chief. She was a well-renowned talent in the village, both hunting and teaching in the village's school.
And in this era, Schools also seem to exist, although not as complicated as pre-petrification schools where arithmetic and scientific subjects were discussed. The school in the village was a primitive one, mostly only teaching the other kids in the town about how to hunt the animals for food, who to farm and cultivate fruits and vegetables, basic writing and reading, household works, and other basic subjects such as the history of the village, the other towns that our town has a connection with or conflict with.
So due to my Mother's history as a teacher in the village, she was excited to learn that I am interested in learning, because unlike my older sisters and brothers which unlike me, are healthy physically and great hunters of the village but, most of them only learned the most basic of everything/ average in IQ, so my mother was a bit disappointed as she wanted to have more people in the village that wanted to discuss the history of the town. And when she learned, I was a genius when I showed her how easy I was able to understand the lessons she taught me, such as the common sense of living in the village. She started teaching me more advanced classes, which I mostly already knew at the time.
And due to the time, mother teaching me the history and things I didn't know about the village, compared to my brothers and sisters who were much closer to dad since most of them hunts together with dad very often, which dad states as a family bonding time. Unfortunately, due to my weak physique, I was born with. I couldn't join my siblings and father in their hunts despite my abundant knowledge of many martial techniques from the pre-petrification era. However, my weak physique doesn't cause anything wrong with my body. Unlike the other people in the village who seemed to have been born with much stronger forms that were much better than the human's born pre-petrification/Great Wipe. And due to my body being weaker than an average human's state even from the pre-petrification era, I was looked down upon by some of the village members as most of them see physical strength and power as what determines your rank the village.
And that is why although I am the village's chief son who was the strongest in the town, Although non of the villagers harass me, like some event from a shounen manga where the mc gets beaten by bullies. I was instead just ignored or, in most cases only not paid attention which is honestly a great thing for me as using my appraisal along with my regeneration skill, I can start finding out how to use magic and find a way to at least strengthen my physique enough to at least the level of an ordinary adult man, which through my ten years being reincarnated in the village, I still hadn't found a way to actually use magic or strengthen my physique aside from continuously training my body even if the results of them are incomparable to that of an average human.
[Akio Pov End]
As Akio was inside his room inside the Village Chief's House/ his Father's house, someone suddenly entered his room while seemingly being very excited.
[???] "Hey Akio, today's the day dad is going to let you join the hunt, aren't you excited!"
As Akio heard that voice, he turned around to see a little girl wearing a short red cloth dress that was very primitive as it only had a single rope tying the girl's waist together with the dress. As Akio took a closer look at the girl, he recognized her to be one of his little sisters, Emily, to be exact.
Among all of Akio's siblings, Emily was the one he was closest to like both were born relatively near together due to their having different mothers despite having the same father. And aside from that, Akio and Emily were also close due to Akio being reminded of his past life's sister Yuzuhira in Emily in both attitude and looks. When Akio first heard that polygamy in this era was fairly standard, he was surprised. Still, as he thought more of it, he thought it was reasonable due to the petrification event/ Great Wiping wiping out most of the world's human population.
Although Akio didn't know if any other country in the pre-petrification event had somehow survived or if there were many other villages around in Japan or at least the land where Japan was once located, Akio thought that after hearing the description from God's, it would be safe to assume that all the countries would have fallen already.
So due to that reasoning, although Akio didn't know how humans could still have survived after the Great Petrification. It would be safe to assume that the human population would have been reduced to less than one percent compared to what it was before the Petrification Event. And based on the history, Akio knew, if the people in this world only had one partner each, then it would be incredibly insufficient since, as seen in his village, Akio sees that the male and female ratio of the village was very unbalanced, with an estimation of 80 percent of the villagers being female. In contrast, the male ratio is only 20 percent of the village.
And the probable reason Akio thought of why this was the case was that, similar to history before the certification event, the village's culture views that most men are the ones to hunt for the village. And unfortunately, many men die while hunting either due to being killed by wild beasts, who were very strong compared to the beasts in the modern era.
After seeing his sister's look with excitement, Akio sighed as he replied to Emily.
[Akio] "Oh, it's today. Can you say to father that I'm too busy researching today and learning about the ancestors from the records mom had lent me about them from the village archive?"
[Emily] "Come on, bro. You're always reading and researching stuff with Mom about the ancestors all the time at the house; you didn't even go with brother Mike and Arnold when Dad had planned a family hunting trip back then; they even managed to catch a big boar back. Then."
[Akio] " You know my body is weaker than even you, my younger sister, right? Even if I did come with you guys on the Hunt, how could I even help? I might even become a burden to dad and our brothers /sisters in the hunt."
Emily[ Bro, although that is true, everyone does acknowledge that in the village, even if most of them ignore you that you are one of the smartest people in the village, so in the hunt, you could use your math thing to divide the loot, detect some prey for dad to hunt or even just making traps for the Hunt.
As Akio took a look at Emily's determined face to make him join the Hunt, Akio sighed while also smirking as he was reminded of Yuzuhira's attitude toward Emily. Akio then said
[Akio] "Okay fine, I'll join the hunt. Tell our dad and siblings to wait for me a bit in front of the village, and I'll bring my equipment to join you guys in the hunt."
When Emily heard Akio's words, she nodded with excitement as she left the room to inform her brothers and sisters that Akio had finally agreed to join his first hunt ever.
After seeing that Emily had left his room, Akio once again sighed as he thought to himself as he started to clean up his table of all the research and stone tablets that had the records of history in the village written within it.
'So Today's the hunt huh, according to my estimation, it should be the day where the magi-beasts, which are mutated animals that were exposed to mana in the world, would appear according to the words Rob had told me a few years ago as a notice.'
As Akio thought of the danger that may appear today in the hunt, from behind his table, he brought out a pack of liquid's which he had created from poisonous herbs and plants he had gotten from sneaking out of the village using his appraisal. And also taking out a makeshift blowgun before heading out from his room to finally go and meet his father and brothers in front of the village to start the hunt.
