Chapter 26

"J, who is that you're talking to?" Enya yelled through the doorway.

"No one!" He hollered back.

"Hmmm. This passcode thing sure is dusty," Enya remarked.

Jamison sighed and grunted. He shoved the communication device toward the windowsill. Enya pounded on the door. Jamison soothed himself with the knowledge that she didn't have the passcode.

Until the door groaned open. Jamison scanned the room. As did Nessa, who watched through her hologram. There was no way to conceal any of this.

It didn't matter. Enya had already breached the security system.

"How did you get in here?" He stammered.

Enya stumbled backward but caught herself by grabbing Jamison's desk. The communication device stirred. Enya's eyes glazed over.

"Fingerprints need to be cleaned. Badly," she managed as her eyes wandered the room. "What is all this?"

Jamison nodded toward the teleport equipment and said, "Transport. Teleport."

She blinked at the communication equipment and questioned, "And THAT?"

Jamison bowed his head.

"They're not answering," he said. "I don't think they will. I think they are dead."

Enya slipped her arm around Jamison's shoulders and pulled him close.

"Darling," she moaned. "What is it? What's wrong? Tell me."

She released him and asked, "You're worrying me, J. Tell me, who are they?"
