-short chapter-

Draco turned sharply to her. "What're you getting at?"

"You're a dragon, Draco." She snorted. "It's a Truth so evident even a muggle can see it."

"Is this a prank?" he narrowed his eyes. "Cut it out. I don't like to be fooled."

"I'll make this brief. I just want you to listen. Ask questions if you may, but don't interrupt me." Hether took a big breath.

She told him of how the Slytherin house element was water; and how uncanny it was that he was afraid of the very strength of his house, yet it comforted him to sleep on even the most troubled of nights. She explained to him, how he wasn't just named Draco – it was a reminder of what the main plan was. He asked what it was. She told him, albeit grudgingly. There was a Plan, and he was the plan – the dark lord's plan to take over the wizarding world, and then the entire world. She told him of The Flaw – the seventeen year old distraction that was Harry Potter; that didn't he himself find it rather odd that the dark lord was so focused in earnest on ending the boy's life?

She spoke of how the dark lord was like an angry wasp – it didn't give up until it had stung its distraction. Eventually he had lost sight of the initial Plan and had focused on the Flaw, to the extent that it was all he now thought of.

She told him that until the Flaw had been corrected, he was meant to be kept in the dark about his Truth, until he had been coerced and convinced that he was to be used to the dark lord's whims. She told him that whatever happened, he was to remain stoic and act as if he was still ignorant.

He listened, bewildered, as she made mention of dracones elementis – dragons born from the elements that took on human skin, and how he was one of such; a water dragon (which explained why his father had instilled in him the fear of water). Anger coursed through him, as the truth poured through his ears. Anger and relief. Anger, because he had lied to by the person he trusted the must, who knew he trusted him and hence lied to him; but relief because he was not lesser than the Potter boy, no, he was more important than he was.

Hether had since fallen silent, and was now watching as he struggled to process the information. She knew it was difficult for him because his emotions transitioned from one to the other on his face, and anyone who knew Draco knew that he wasn't an expressive person.

They both sat in silence, until it became clear to Hether that he would be better off left alone. "I need to go. The band will probably be looking for me. When you're ready to talk about it, find me."

Silence.

She turned on her heels and walked away. When he had heard the door to the tower shut, Draco let out a shaky breath. His life was a lie. He grew up around a lie, he loved a lie, he was a lie. No, now he was a dragon, apparently. A dragon of all things – him, someone the dark lord barely cast a glance at, was a dragon wearing a human skin.

Draco got up and backed away from the railing. He felt like he would actually hurl himself from the tower if he stayed there any longer. His fists fell to his side, clenching so tight as he stared across the grounds as if he could burn it with his gaze. His knuckles stretched white; his nails dug deep into his palm until he felt a burst of pain slice through him. He took in a sharp breath and stared at his palm, which to his dismay, was dripping red unto his white brogues. He let out a silent curse.

"Episky." He muttered, and watched as the gashes began to heal.

Draco sighed. Deep inside of him, he could feel a fury beginning to build up and rise, until it was lodged firmly in his throat. Here he had a choice – swallow it back in and keep his cool, or let it out and be rid of it for now. But how could he keep a cool he didn't have?

He sank to his knees, hot tears springing to his eyes. There, he gave into the fury, and let out a scream; a scream so anguished and hurt it would have cracked even the coldest of hearts – which might have happened if not for the fact that no one heard it as the band had begun a rather lively song.
