Maeve was having a rather bad day...scratch that, her day was terrible. Her biggest fear had just killed a man by plunging his fist into him while she watched then he said something about how he wouldn't take it if she was with someone else. Maeve took that as a threat to her life and while she was strong, he was stronger by a long shot! Her secret identity had been out in the public for a while but that didn't mean she had given up on it, so she had a new one made.
Her name was Cassie and she was going to drink a cup of coffee to calm her nerves. She ordered for one and was about to go take her seat when someone stand beside her.
"Make it two with two pies, if the lady allows it," the person said. She turned to look who it was and saw H'El. She immediately recognised him and she smiled at him. "I see you took to make up."
"Well, not my style but I needed it. How did you know it was me, anyway?" she asked.
"You lifted a whole floor off of me, I would be despicable if I forgot about it. Plus, your ass is unforgettable," H'El said, making her punch his arm as she took her coffee and went to a table. H'El smirked at himself before seeing the waitress giving him a glare which he put in the back of his mind and went to join her.
"What are you doing here?" she asked him.
"I was out for a walk when I saw you. You seemed distressed so I followed you till here," he answered. She looked at him with a questioning raised eyebrow. "Okay, fine, I saw you when I got in and thought I might pick you up."
"So you did forget about me," she mocked him. H'El pretended to be a little cross.
"Well, from down there all I could see was your legs," he said before she burst out laughing. "What's wrong with you? You seem a little panicky and almost scared."
"I just had a bad day, that's all," she answered. The waitress brought them their order and as she put down his cup of coffee and pie, she had a hidden smirk on her face which H'El saw and looked at his pie cautiously. "Why are you looking at the pie as if it would explode?"
"I'm afraid I might have offended the waitress it something. Anyway, tell me something, is your suit bulletproof or is that you?" he asked. Maeve scoffed at that.
"When I got into the Seven, Homelander and I started dating. He knew I was bulletproof but he decided to make sure my suit is too, you know, just in case," she answered as she ate and drank her coffee and pie.
"Oh yeah, I heard you were dating, what happened?" he asked. Maeve got this look that showed she was afraid. H'El frowned at that. "Something happened between you two?" She looked at him with a frown.
"Why are you asking me all these questions?" she asked him.
"I know the workings of Vought; they killed my parents and tried to blame it on a human. I had bugged the whole place so I knew the truth. I know the hero politics that is why I never joined. I know Homelander is a cruel, cold bastard and everyone in Vought, including all the Seven are afraid of him. I need to know if he's gonna come after if he sees me and you dating," he answered. Maeve was shocked by his honesty that she was dumbfounded for a while. H'El was scared might have said something wrong.
"I'm sorry, it sounds like I'm a creep or something. Anyway, would you like to go out for a coffee with me?" he asked.
"We are out for a coffee," she answered him. H'El looked at his untouched coffee and grinned sillily. He had no previous experience with this at all, H'El was all work and no play thus this awkward moment. Maeve must have seen it because she grinned a little as she picked up her cup, brought it to her lips but she didn't sip the coffee.
"So, what's your story, besides having your parents killed off by Vought?" she asked. H'El looked like he had been given a line when he was about to drown.
"Well, my name is Helix, but everyone just calls me H'El. I do vigilante stuff but not in America, that would alert Vought. I was here last week because I was on vacation and it was going well until the building fell on me. When I thought I was going to die down there when I saw sunlight and there it was, two cream white legs supporting a huge block of rubble!"
"You seem like a leg fanatic," Maeve mocked him.
"Your legs made me like that. The way I see it, you should pay it back. Say, Saturday, eight in the evening?" Maeve looked at him then smiled.
"It won't be my fault if Homelander comes after you. After all, you asked me out," she joked then left. H'El smiled as he stared at her leaving figure, especially her ass and she seemed to have realized it for when she reached the door knob, she perked her butt a little more then gave him a provocative side glance before she walked out.
H'El sighed to himself before he looked at his tent then used his ice breath to cool himself down. That's when he remembered about the waitress. His earlier warmth was gone as he turned to look at the waitress who was serving another customer. His eyes glowed for a second then everyone in the diner started walking out without even saying a thing, even the employees. All that was left was the waitress.
"You know the saying, never cross the waitress, there is another saying, never cross the alien," H'El said before he turned to look at her. "You just crossed the alien, hooman." The girl saw his eyes glowed blue and she immediately bolted. She tried to open the front door but a greater force was shutting it close, it didn't even budge. She went for the other door but it was shut too. She then took a chair and tried to smash the window but the chair bounced off. Suddenly, she felt a force latch onto her body and she was thrown onto H'El's table. She saw he was holding a knife and her heart almost failed because of the fear she was experiencing.
"Please, please don't..." she tried to say but her lips shut still, she wouldn't even open it a creek.
"You see, I have been having this issue with me lately, like I am two different people at the same time. There's the violent me that wants to swallow the other me if I don't do at it's whims. You pissed off the other side and I need to quell it before it rages because to be honest, I'm squatting in its body and I am using its mind to fuel my own. Maeve is kinda like a distraction and it is working, like Superman to Wonder woman so is H'El to Maeve. You are just unlucky, girl," H'El said then got hold of her head. "I'll make this fast." With just one squeeze, she was headless. H'El sighed as he massaged his head before he teleported away.
Butcher was having a talk with Hughie when someone suddenly appeared in front of them. Butcher went for his gun but a hand stopped him and the grip was tenacious.
"Nice to see you too, piss pot," H'El greeted him. Butcher was surprised as well as Hughie for they recognised him.
"You're that Supe from the other day," Hughie said. H'El was about to answer when a thin guy walked out of a room. H'El used his X-Ray vision and saw a cage and it was empty but he knew who was inside.
"Nothing is going to work on... Who's this?" the guy asked. H'El looked at him and smiled.
"H'El, nice to meet you. I am here to actually help you with your...little escapade," H'El answered.
"Why don't you let Butcher go then?"
"Have you met this guy? The only way he's gonna talk is if he has a gun on my face and that is not going to do him no good. Tell you what, if Homelander ever comes for you guys, just yell out my name. I will be there in a second," H'El said then just vanished.
"Fucking cunt!" Butcher yelled out as he whipped out his gun, aiming it at the air. "Why don't you come out here and see if you can survive a round of this!" Suddenly, Butcher was sent flying and hit the wall behind him with an 'oomph'.
