Chapter 29~Love?~
Phoenix snuck into her house and dabbed some of her sister's makeup on her neck then snuck back out and knocked on the door. Karmaria opened it automatically and hugged her sister tightly then smacked the back of Phoenix's head "where were you?! You had me and Nix worried!!!"
Phoenix smiled and hugged her back "I'm sorry, let's get inside"
They walked inside and a very joyful but Angered cat-like person tackled Phoenix.
"Ouch-oh well hello again Ms. Nix" Phoenix smiled but Nix looked at her and got in her face with her ears down.
"I know I know I'm sorry, and remember I can't see your face so I can't see you glaring at me"
Nix sat up then started to take her to mask off until Phoenix quickly put her hand in the way to stop her, "you don't need to silly, It was a joke and I'm your best friend so even with the mask I can tell what most of your blank mask stares mean"
Phoenix rubbed Nix's head and Nix got off her so Phoenix could get up.
That night they ate a chicken salad that Phoenix had made since Nix was over and it's one of the only meats Nix is ok with eating since most of the animals she turns into are predators.
They ate and then Phoenix made Nix and Karmaria's favorite pie, "STRAWBERRY PIE!" Karmaria yelled and Nix said in a regular quiet voice.
Phoenix laughed and gave them both a slice and then Phoenix got herself some as well, "so Nix where were you most of this time again?" Karmaria asked with some pie still in her mouth.
Nix swallowed her bit of pie and said in a small voice "I text her two days ago and she just got back to me yesterday and asked if I was a shapeshifter, I said yes, and then she asked me to cover for her at school and to be honest I don't think she knew it was me", Phoenix laughed nervously and rubbed the back of her head.
Karmaria nodded then ate the last bit of her pie "I'm full", Nix nodded in agreement and they all cleaned up and went to bed, Phoenix in her room, Karmaria went in her room and Nix followed her. They all were tired from the day but then Phoenix got a visit from Hawks that night, he knocked on her window lightly and she saw him then got up and opened it, Hawks climbed in and put his arms around her "glad your ok little bird"
Phoenix smiled a bit and hugged him back, "sorry I worried you chicken wings" Hawks gritted his teeth then grabbed Phoenix's chin and lifted it up, they stared into each other's eyes and hawks smirked "watch the name-calling missy~"
Phoenix blushed then licked hawk's hand, Hawks let go and rolled his eyes. He then sat on her bed and said "Sooooo want to go on patrol with me?"
Phoenix shook her head and said "I can't, I worried my sister so much that she would get worried again if I just disappeared, plus she's asleep so I can't tell her either"
Hawks smiled and rubbed Phoenix's head " that's ok, can I give you a welcome back gift?"
Phoenix was confused until Hawks leaned down a bit, waited for her to push him away, but when she didn't he kissed her. Phoenix blushed and her wings stiffened out and Hawks stopped kissing her then hugged her, "Welcome back sun bird~"
He then went out the window and looked back at Phoenix's still flustered face and smiled, then he flew off. Phoenix blinked then said "oh boy, now that's two boys t-that kissed me"
But she thought to herself, does Hawks really like her? Does Dabi even like her either in that way? What if they are messing with her feelings, "what do I do?"
She went to bed that night thinking about the two boys the whole time.
