FIGHT

I knew Netero was over a 100 years old at the time of the manga, and that opened up the possibility that I would die long before the main cast was born.

"No-no, i think i read that name in a book somewhere"

I hoped he bought it. Even though I was shaken by the thought of Netero as a fellow disciple, it didn't change my goals.

I was here to become stronger and learn Nen.

"How long have you been a disciple here?" i asked

"i am not a disciple, I am just passing thru. i heard there was many strong people gathered here"

He was probably here to challenge them. it was such a netero thing to do.

"how long have you been here?" I asked.

"for some time" he answered. the humor in his voice was gone.

He probably noticed I tried to get more information, really scary instincts in this one.

as we were walking down a long hallway i noticed all the pictures on the wall.

They were all old men with white hair, or no hair at all.

Dead master I thought.

"you are right" i heard a voice whisper right behind me.

I turned around faster than lightning with all my muscles tensed and ready to go.

It was a middle aged man. He had the same outfit Netero had.

"and you are?" i tried to mask the insecurity in my voice.

"quite fast eh? I am Sakamoto, and a master in this dojo, and who might you be?"

"Gordon '' I tried to be as serious as I could.

"Are you here to learn swordsmanship?" asked Sakamoto.

"i am here to learn Nen" i answered with all the conviction i could muster.

"oh. not many know what that means. and we never teach it to fresh students" his voice was really serious now.

Have I come so far for nothing?

"stay and train, when you are ready we will teach you"

yes! i didn't travel all this way for nothing.

"But first you must beat the guy behind you"

I turned to Netero. his eyes sparkled. What a fighting madman. Me on the other hand. beads of sweat had started to form on my forehead.

i was supposed to beat the strongest Nen user in the world?

That was in 60 years, but still. I didn't think I had the potential to beat Netero, no way.

Sakamoto turned to Netero a dozen feet away.

"take him to the practice field, see what he can do"

"Sure thing master"

I was guided to a wide open area behind the main building. It reminded me of the budokai ring in Dragonball. the practice wield was huge, it could fit over a 100 people with some space between them. It had flat smooth white tiles.

at one end you could see some student doing a light spar.

"Do you need the whole platform?" The question was posed by Sakamoto, and meant for me.

"i dont think so" i was unsure of what my capabilities were. in the forest back home all i had fought was some wild animals the hunters from the village had trouble with.

Netero and I walked to the middle of the platform, we stood 20 feet apart.

Sakamoto stood at the edge of the platform, ready to save anyone in danger.

He was practically vibrating with energy, but had just a casual stance.

I had my fist just beneath my chin, just like a boxer and my feet wide.

"Are you ready?" asked Sakamoto

"YES" we both yelled in unison.

"FIGHT!"
