Chapter 11

*Flashback*

I ducked as a huge sword is swung sideways at me but my shield is smashed to pieces as it met the sword.

My opponent, a towering Kirgoyan Penil, roared and dashed in my direction as I'm thrown off the ground towards the side of the Creum by the impact of the attack.

I rolled away from another melee attack and sliced at his ankles, immobilising him.

I flipped backwards and jumped unto his back as he tried to swat me away with the back of his armoured hand. I struggled to maintain balance as he shook himself and tried to claw at me with his hands.

I cut off two of his fingers which made him scream in pain. That moment of distraction is when I plunged my sword deep into the head of the overgrown Penil.

I jumped down and landed on my feet as the Penil slowly drops down with a massive thud. Blood slowly dripped down from my head.

The cheers from the audience reaches the sky after a moment of surprise, shock and silence.

I pulled off the remainder of the shield on my hand and raised my sword. The noise of the cheers increased beyond normality. I have won my first match...I'm safe.

For now.

Elina waits for my signal to attack. I indicate with my fingers that she should just wait for a little while.

Two of the mauraders come behind us and push us forward whilst aiming their weapons at us. I looked at Elina and she looked back at me. We could see Onii bound and on her knees at the far Senat of their kruun.

"On my count,..." I mentally alert her and she nods.

Three,

Two

One...... Now!!!

She dashes toward and blasts those at the front with an electric discharge while I decapitate the two behind me and the ones guarding Onii with super speed.

The ones which are still alive start firing their weapons...all of which are blocked by the force field Onii created around I and her.

Elina takes to the skies and releases a huge sonar wave that crushes the remaining mauraders.

Onii neutralizes the force field and then faints. It seems someone from our side got messed up too.

Elina lands and rushes to our side. The bruises on Onii's face were fresh but apart from a few cracked ribs, she was good to go. Elina's X-ray vision made sure of that.

We tend to Elina's injuries for less than half an eon and set off again on our journey.

Our destination, a busy town with a high population, known as Soj awaited us in a distance hardly far from our current position.

The city gates are heavily guarded and also crowded with immigrants and emigrants. We join the line and slowly follow the waiting process.

Two armed guards approach us when our turn was reached. The first one, about a head shorter than the other, sternly eyed me, "Ever been here before??" His voice was scratchy but I could not see his face because of the helmet he had on as a part of their official suit.

"Not really. We just passing through to get some supplies." I say as he scrutinizes my companions with both surprise and disgust.

He moves away from them after circling around them like a ckyll around a carcass and then comes straight to me. So close that I would have felt his breath if not for the helmet on his head.

Don't cause any trouble or I'll find you.

The last words that creepy guard spat in my face... I feel like that line itself is bound to get me trouble. I think as we walk into the town after that guard weirdly made sure we were fit to enter into the town.

Trouble.

I guess I won't have gotten this far without help from that.

We follow the lead of Onii Mara as she veers us towards the meeting point which is an inn not far from the town's square.

This is where I officially become Squad  Leader, huh??

I just hope I don't mess up.
