Breaking Free

BRUNO'S POV

Breaking into Hugo’s mansion was easier than I anticipated—too easy. It was almost like they didn’t expect anyone to come for her. But that was their first mistake.

I crept through the estate’s back garden, using the shadows to my advantage. The place was crawling with guards, their patrols predictable, their arrogance palpable. Hugo always underestimated his enemies.

My fists clenched as I thought about Katy, alone and vulnerable. This wasn’t just a mission anymore; it was personal. I’d promised myself I’d keep her safe, and I wasn’t going to fail her—or Dario.

Slipping through a side door, I navigated the maze of hallways, my ears tuned to every sound. A muffled voice caught my attention, and I followed it, my instincts sharp.

I found her.

The lounge door was slightly ajar, and I peered through the crack. My blood boiled at the sight of Hugo’s hand on Katy’s thigh, his lips grazing her neck. She was smiling, but I knew that smile. It was fake.
