Safety Before Safety

DARIO’S POV

I walked into the discussion room with a slow, deliberate pace, my mind already racing through the possibilities. The walls were lined with maps, dossiers, and a few pieces of equipment scattered across the table. Bruno, Ali, and the rest of the team were waiting for me, their eyes heavy with anticipation. No one said anything as I took my seat, but the silence was thick with the weight of the situation.

“You all know why we’re here,” I said, leaning forward. “Hugo’s going to make a move. The question is when, and how we’re going to respond.”

Bruno’s eyes flickered, his face calm but calculating. “We’ve been watching him for days. The longer we wait, the more unpredictable it becomes. He’s no fool. He knows we’re coming.”

I nodded, my mind flicking between options. “I know. But if we make a move now, we might walk straight into a trap. We could wait it out, keep a low profile, and force him to make the first move. Let him come to us.”
