DARIO’S POV
I couldn’t sit still. My legs bounced restlessly as I stared out the window of the jet, clouds blurring past in a haze. How had this happened? How the hell had Hugo outsmarted me? I clenched my fists, jaw tight with frustration.
I’d always been one step ahead of everyone. But now? Now I was a hundred steps behind that sly old bastard. The thought twisted in my gut. Katy was mine—mine. And Hugo had gone too far by taking her. No one touched what belonged to me.
I would burn down the world to get her back. Kill anyone. Give my own life, if I had to. But Hugo? Hugo wouldn’t just die—he’d suffer.
The buzz of my phone pulled me out of my spiraling thoughts. I yanked it out of my pocket, my heart pounding when I saw Katy’s name on the screen. A voicemail. My chest tightened as I pressed play.
