“No…she is not looking for us. We just left a minute ago and barely stayed outside the dzinza.”
“Shiba!” A girl among the group shrieked.
I gazed upon her, looking worried. I became alert, thinking that she might be in trouble but instead saw her looking, with her eyes wide, at the boy in front of me.
“Alright…alright.” He said in surrender and turned to their way. He was about to join them when I stopped him, taking my chances.
“wait, kid.” I took a step forward. “Shiba, right? Are you guys heading back home?”
“uh…yes.”
“Can I join you, then?”
He looked at me, surprised. He then glanced a look at his friends and lingered there for some time. From the looks of it, he might be thinking if it is a good decision to tag me along.
“I promise, I am not bad guy.”
He looked at me longer. I heard his friends complaining but I never lose the eye contact, silently trying to persuade him that I mean no harm. He then nodded, that made me heaved a sigh of relief.
