♤CHAPTER THREE

-a d d a n n a-

My shift was somewhat more jovial than usual and all my co-workers at the hotel were strangely more friendly and chatty. It was close to the end of my shift and I was humming a lively tune when one of the valet approached me. Even though our hotel was family environment, it was still a very big one and near imposssible for every employee to know the others.

So when he got to the desk he made a little nervous laugh and spoke to me.

"Hey Addanna, my name is Austin. I am Justin's younger cousin."

"Hey Austin. Nice to meet you" I said trying my best to be casual and cool. I was not used to people wanting to be my friend or even making an attempt to be near me.

"Yeah......so I was wondering if you could be my date for the staff party" he asked nervously.

"Date?? I never knew I had to bring a date" I said panicking. I mean how comes no one told me that it was a date event??

I felt so embarrassed that I could just sink into the ground.

"No no, it's not that you have to bring a plus one. I just thought that maybe I could pick you up and we drive here together you know" he explained while rubbing the back of his neck.

"Ohhh sure, I would love that" I smiled at him.

It has been a year since my break up with Brent and I haven't thought of him once since I have been here. The only thing I thought about was what I could do to elevate myself to the point where I was comfortable, financially stable and independent and able to help others.

Yes. I think about helping others because that's just the type of person I am.

About thirty minutes after my conversation with Austin I had packed up my bags and waited for my shift change to arrive. She was a tall slim blonde. Her hair was curly and she had a high pitched voice but not those annoying types, hers was cute and comforting. No wonder she was chosen to be one of the receptionists here. I think her name is Nelle. She was chirpy and seemed fun. We had only ever communicated at shift change but I think I might have subconciously given off a 'I don't wanna talk to anyone' vibe why she seem to have chosen to keep our exchanges to a bare minimum.

So when she came for my shift change I decided to make the first gesture of kindness towards her as I promised myself that I would put myself out there and try to make friends.

"Hello Nelle, you look gorg today" I offered as I bit my lips nervous of her response.

"Ohh Hey Addanna. Are you talking to me?"

"Yes I was, I was just complimenting your appearance today, saying you look gorgeous even though you always do" I stated with better confidence.

"Ohh sheesh, thanks Addy boo, I tried to make the curls pop a little more this morning. Am glad someone noticed" She said with excitement laced in her every word.

"You know I never ever thought in a million cuzillion years that you would talk to me. You always seem to be caught up in your own stuck up world you know. Not that I was judging you or anything but I just was kinda afraid to try talk to you outside of the norm you know. Plus you look super gorg too, same as everyday, maybe thats why all the guys here have the hots for you. GOSH!!! I think maybe am talking a bit too much now" She said all in one breath then immediately got pale while her cheeks turned crimson. Her hand quickly shot to her mouth in an effort to silence herself?

Wow.

I liked Nelle alot and this was just our first personal encounter. It wasn't that she was shy, in fact I thought she was a bit too bold but the fact that she could acknowledge that she was moving too fast on her own was very admirable. I guess she was scared of scaring me back into my shell or whatever.

I just laughed a little at her outburst then her reaction to her own outburst.

"That's okay Nelle. Ummmm??......." now I was the one getting nervous and scared. Shit.

"Yeah Addy?? Am sorry if I was too forward for you. I don't mean to scare you ok??"

"No that's not it. I was just wondering if we could be friends you know. Like maybe outside of work?" I rushed my words so fast that I wasn't sure if she even heard me.

When I heard Nelle burst out in laughter I was mortified.

Now I felt so stupid.

"Stop looking so dull Addy. Ofcourse we can be friends, I can't believe that was the reason for your nervousness. In fact, I wanted to invite you this weekend to go shopping and then have dinner with me at my place you know, a girl's night typa thing" Her voice was so calm and friendly. I could tell that we were going to be great friends.

I looked down on my watch and realised that if I didn't hurry then I would be late for my part time job at the restaurant. I didn't want to lose this job because it assisted me to save much more so I could get my dream house.

After Nelle and I agreed on a time and day to meet up, I quickly packed up my stuff and left for my next job.

It took forty-five minutes for me to reach the restaurant from the hotel. When I arrived, I changed into my waitress uniform, clocked in and started my shift. I was only fifteen minutes late but the supervisor, Mr. Brown, was extremely strict so I was grateful that he didn't realise my tardiness.

My waitress job was actually a blessing and even though it didn't pay half as much as my first job, I got alot of tips here. I only waited tables for three hours, five days a week and each day the tips were awesome. Some days the tips were more than the pay cheque it self. The tips allowed me to save all my pay cheques for both jobs and survive on just the tips.

I was deep in thought thinking that in the next two months I would be able to purchase my new house. I was getting excited when my supervisor dragged me back out of my imaginations.

"After already being late you have the audacity to be standing here idling Addanna Moncrieffe" I hated how his demanding accusing voice called out my legal name.

"I apologise sir. What are my tables today?" I said in humility. I was extremely grateful that my humility was one of my greatest personality traits because if I was hot headed I would have easily disrespected this tyrant by now and in the process to walk off the job (which I needed to accomplish my goal).

"You may just serve Table fourteen (14). Make sure you represent us well. Those are extremely 'honorable A' class clients" He told me. It was at that moment that I realised that he wasn't being his old grumpy self. He was way more on edge and very stressed.

I walked over to my table with extreme confidence and a huge smile on my face.

"Good Afternoon Sirs, is there anything you would like to order?" I said as I approached the VIP table.

When I took a better look at the table, I realised that the two men who sat there were drop dead gorgeous. I mean something straight out of a model magazine or television show. I was stunned to say the least, but I was at work and composure was key.

I inhaled and exhaled calmly while counting to ten in my head. I bet they are used to people falling head over heels for them so it was crucial for me to not be unprofessional and cliché.

"Yes. Two French vanilla with melted marshmellow on top for right now" The man on the left spoke.

I quickly nodded my head with a smile while I took the order and began to walk off.

As I began to turn the one in the right spoke and his voice was the same tone and pace as the one on the left. He slowly took off his shades and turned to me. He was speaking and I couldn't hear what he was saying because I was somehow captivated by his dominating ora.

I didn't realise at first but these men seemed to be twinsss!!!!!!
