Chapter 29: Welcome home!

Kaida's pov.

We arrived at Raven's home. It's actually beautiful...Just people flying around minding their business and little ones learning how to even hover or glide. It seems peaceful here. I sighed as we made it to her home, "We have a few beds laying around here for you guys." Raven smiled and a little one rushes over to her legs and hugs her, "BIG SIS!" The little girl exclaimed with excitement. I looked at her. She had smaller wings and I assume the patterns on her black wings still haven't shown since there were white-ish lines right on the tips of her feathers. I smiled while the others head over the room. Raven smiled and hugged her tightly, "Hi there you!" She nuzzled and giggled along with her. I noticed people looking at Cyro with that confused look. I scoffed off of his little situation but when Cyro walked in some things went down. Raven's mother walks over to the coffee table and places a tray of food for all of us, "Let your friends settle in before calling them for food okay?" She said...but when she finished her sentence, her eyes laid on Cyro. She stares into him like she'd seen a ghost. I tilted my head. Cyro looked back at her, "H-Hi..." He said. He was still covered in some bandages form the fight we had and from the flames, he met at the end of it.

Raven looks at her mother and tilts her head, "Mom? You okay?" She asked. Her mother froze in place while her father then walks into the scene, "What's going on-... Goodness..." He froze as well. Raven looked very confused. I was assuming she doesn't remember who he was. Cyro rubbed the back of his head, "I'm home..." He said silently. Raven looked at him with confusion in her bright yellow eyes. Her father spreads his wings in a defensive manner. He was cautious. By the way, they had a huge home. I scooted close to Raven, "Can I just ask...what's your parent's name?" I whispered, "Well my dad is Thoren and my mom is Leyna." Raven replied. I nodded. Her father then hops off of the higher platform they were on and headed to Cyro slowly, "You..." He whispers in a deep tone but I could tell he's in a state of shock mixed with strong emotions. He then looks him in the eyes, "You look familiar...." He whispered but also being cautious. Aviur then speaks to me in my head, "Child, I sense magic around this village. Some sort of vanishing spell." Aviur said. I looked at them, "You look familiar..." Raven's father said to Cyro.

Cyro backs away. He seems very intimidated by the bigger male, "Uh..." He said nervously. Aviur growls, "That spell. It is on Cyro and this family. It's some type of vanishing spell on them. I am thinking of a memory spell." He said. I perked up and pulled Raven aside, "Hey! What the?" She said while we just peek at them, "I hate to break this to you but I sense something wrong here." I said to her. Raven raised her eyebrow, "Something wrong? Alright, what is it then?" She asked. I looked at her, "Your family is kept in some kind of spell so maybe that's why they're acting this way when they saw Cyro." I explained. Raven had this look of confusion and disbelief, "What? If we were under a spell we would've already felt it." She said. I sighed, "That's the thing with the spell on you guys. You don't feel it because your memory's being blocked!" I replied.

She then looked to her family like she figured something out, "Okay...then how do we get rid of it?" She asked. Aviur speaks in my voice with a growl, "Greetings child, To remove that type of spell you must track whoever placed it there and vanquish it." He said. Raven backs away a little bit, "Uhh...Vanquish? As in like...kill it?" She asked. Aviur shrugged, "It's either that or destroy the object where the spell is connected to or came from. Like a talisman or something." He said before leaving.

I got a bit light-headed as I go back to my body, "W-Woah...Y-Yeah what he said." I followed. Raven looks at her family and looked back at me, "I'm not really falling in the same rabbit hole right now..." She whispered. I sighed and looked at her parents. I really sense something there. I just decided to brush it off for now and go with the day. As we ate our meal, Raven's father acted very defensively to Cyro. I know the reason why...but I just don't want to come out as the crazy one. I'll have to find proof. Cyro walked off to explore after a few minutes on the table while I take a breather outside and watch the sunset. I looked around the trees as little ones fly around with their parents, "I wish I had my parents with me..." I said to myself. Raven walks out and taps the back of my head, "Hey! You okay?" She asked. I nodded, "Y-Yeah...Just admiring the view up here. It's beautiful. I've never seen anything like this as in...ever." I smiled while my eyes roamed around the incredible scenery. Raven smiled and leaned on the sturdy wood railings with me, "Well, I'm glad to have shown you." She giggles. I looked at her happily with a bright smile of content.

An owl then hovers up to us and gives a glare at me before speaking, "Lady Raven, is this filthy human bothering your space? If so, I would be more than glad to eliminate the rat." He said while staring right at me. I raised my eyebrows and looked at her, She sighed and groaned, "Please don't speak about her that way. What do you want?" She asked the owl dude. The Timber Wing then looked at her, "The contest will commence in 5 days time." He informs her. Raven seemed shocked, "Already?" She said, "What contest?" I asked her. Before Raven could speak, The owl cut her off, "The contest for her hand." He said to me with a glare. A contest for her hand? I wonder if I can join. Raven facepalms and nodded, "Yeah I'll get to that in a little bit. Give a few minutes of privacy?" She asked the owl. He nodded anyway and glides away after giving me another glare. I rolled my eyes and got back to admiring the view, "A contest for you huh? Must be a lot of people competing just to get the most beautiful girl around here..." I said. Yes. I pushed myself to finally flirt. Raven blushed madly as she looked away and cleared her throat. Her hair and feathers started to puff. It was very adorable! I chuckled and as I was going to add some more stuff to my flirt session with her, I noticed something in the distance flying towards the village.

I squinted my eyes, "What the..." I said silently. It was Yigo. He followed us here. I growled, "I don't remember agreeing on him following us here." I said to Raven. She looked to Yigo's direction and groaned, "Oh crap here we go again." She whined, "Why? Is he going to be an issue? If he is then I'll kick him right out of here." I growled with my hands slowly heating up. Raven shook her head, "No no. Every year, A female Timber Wing is picked out to be the fairest once they're at the right age and people from different villages or kingdoms travel to here just to compete for their hand. As for my situation, I'm on the right age and I was chosen as the fairest before I left for my messenger job." She explains. I nodded and Yigo soon landed next to us, "Hey Rae! Hey Kaida." He looked at me differently. I hate this dude. I growled at him silently. Raven sighed, "What do you want now?" She asked, "Oh you know. I'm just saying hi! see you at training!" He smiled and flies off. Raven rolled her eyes, "As if I'll be watching that prick." She said. I snickered, "Well he is in his own little fantasy." I said. Ignatius then pops his head out through the window, "Hey you two! You should come and eat!" He called us.

I looked at him and nodded, "Yeah! We'll be right over!" I replied and gently nuzzled Raven. Raven blushes and the top of her head puffs up just a little bit while she nuzzles back, "Oops..." She snickered nervously and slicks it back down. I chuckled, "Aw! I think it's cute!" I said before walking back inside with her. Her father glared and stood in front of me, "You are too close to my daughter, Human." He growled. I backed away, "I-I wasn't doing anything, sir..." I said nervously. He growls while Raven notices this, "Dad...Please, not my friend." She said to her father after she stepped between us. I blushed slightly but then...she holds my hand behind her back to hide it from Thoren. It calmed me down...A lot. I sighed and squeezed her hand back. Thoren huffed and walked off. I sighed in relief before walking over to the table for some food with the others. Cyro's still wandering off outside. I sat down and looked at the food. Steak, some potatoes, rice, and bread. My mouth was WATERING. I held the spoon and fork while staring at the amazing looking food. I looked at them and they seemed to lower their heads a little bit. I tilted my head as to what they were doing.

I looked at Raven with a questioning face after she lifted her head back up and grabbed her spoon and fork, She looked back at me, "Oh we just did our prayers." She said. I nodded slowly and started to eat with the others. Her mother, Leyna, then notices the bandage on her face, "Goodness! Where did you get that?! What happened?!" She asked concerned. I perked up and glanced at her, "Uhh...I fell off a hill, Mom. No big deal." Raven replied. Leyna whined, "M-May I see?" She asked again. Raven sighed and placed her spoon and fork down to remove the bandage on her face. She had a gash going from her cheek, over the bridge of her nose, and to her other cheek. I whimpered while eating. I knew...it was my fault...Raven poked the gash on her face, "It's healed anyway. Besides, having a scar like this around here is basically a medal." She joked. Leyna sighed and smiled before snickering, "True. I mean, look at your father's!" She joked. Thoren looks to the right showing a large scar on the left side of his face. I widened my eyes and just focused on my food. Leyna then noticed my face. She tilted her head, "You have the same one as Raven. What happened to you two?" She asked. I cleared my throat and swallowed my food, "U-Uh...I-I.." Ignatius cut me off as I seemed out of it and nervous as hell, "Self-inflicted wounds." He said.

I looked at him and just nodded. I lowered the sleeves of my shirt to hide my other scars...that originated from the cruelty of the king. I shook the thought off. Aviur then speaks in my head, "I vote we kill that disgusting pig of a king." He growls. I didn't mind him much. I then looked at Thoren, "I-If you don't mind me asking sir...Where did you get your scar?" I asked him. Thoren looked at me dead in the eyes, "From dirty humans like you." He snarled. Raven looked at him, "Dad! Really?" She exclaimed to her dad, Thoren just scoffed. Leyna then puts her spoon down, "Thoren, Raven brought humans that already proved to be nice. If she isn't, then why would she even welcome them here? Hm?" She asked her husband. Thoren was silent. Raven then rolled her eyes before looking at me, "Kaida here actually saved me from other humans who were picking on me. They almost mugged me actually and she showed up and shooed them away. I gave her my trust after realizing not all humans are the same, Dad. How about you? When will you think about that?" She glared back at her father. Thoren sighed and grunted, "Fine. But if she causes trouble...I will have no choice to dispose of her myself." He said and took his plate then placed it by their wash area.

Leyna rolled her eyes, "Anyways...Is that true, Kaida?" She asked me. I was still chewing on my food, "Uhm..." I said as my mouth was full of food. I swallowed the mouth full of the delicious food, "Y-Yes ma'am. I just couldn't watch or walk through someone being treated the same way I was." I shared. They all looked at me, "You what?" They all said at the same time. I slightly choked, "U-Uh!... I couldn't stand watching her being treated that way?" I said.

Raven shook her head, "No, We mean like...You were treated badly?" She asked. I looked down and placed the utensils down before sighing sadly...remembering everything that happened to me. Even what Jason did, "Y-Yeah..." I said silently. She held my hand under the table. She calmed me down again...I cleared my throat and placed a fake smile on, "But it's okay! My uncle always had my back through the heaviest of tears." I shared. Leyna smiled, "That's nice honey. We've all been through some tough times...like the time we had to defend our home from humans when we were raided here. Raven was still a little one when they barged in here...Thoren had to fight with only his fists." She shares. 'With his fists?!' I said to myself in my head knowing what they can do in physical combat. I mean come on! Raven sent me flying with a single punch and she was startled!!!

I nodded and smiled, "If you don't mind me asking, is that where he got his scar on the side of his face?" I asked. Leyna nodded, " A human got him with a knife but he soon sent the two FLYING as if they were shot. from. a. catapult." She follows with a little giggle. I smiled in amazement, "Epic!" I replied. Raven smiled while Ignatius perks up and places his plate away, "Kaida." He calls me for my attention. I looked at him. He gave me a single nod. I tilted my head and just stood up to follow, "Excuse me but I'll have to step out for a little while." I smiled and walked off to Ignatius. Raven and Leyna both nodded at me. I yawned and stretched, "What's up?" I said to Ignatius, He spreads his wings and glides off, "Training." He glances at me before landing somewhere a little far. I groaned and just followed while jogging to him, "Wait up will you?!" I said and kept on my way. Raven was watching by the stairs right after I left so she probably saw my lazy jogging. I soon made my way to the lizard, "What is it now?" I asked him. Ignatius sits by an open field, "Now, This should be a perfect place for us to train in. Open space, not too far and not too near the village, and less damage can be done." He said. I nodded slowly, "Okay so what should I do first?" I asked. Ignatius yawns and gets the book out, "Well...You're advanced even though you're basically a beginner..." He comments. I sighed and looked around while placing my hands behind my head.

Raven then speaks while she sits on a tree, "How about some physical training? You'll need it if you don't have that powers of yours." She said. I perked up and turned around, "Oh! Uh...sure but I don't know if he can help me with that. PLUS there won't be a moment where my powers disappear yeah? or just turn off?" I said. Raven soon jumps down and lands safely, "You really should learn how to not just rely on something. I don't know how that works but I do know that it won't be easy to maintain that as of the moment so I suggest learning some fighting hm? You learning that nd your powers can do a LOT more damage." She smiles. I blushed slightly, "Y-Yeah! I agree." I said stuttering. Ignatius scoffed, "So now you agree." He jokes while having that smirk on his face. I growled, "Shut up." I snarled. He rolls his eyes and continues to look through the book, "Well, we both get that part of the fighting thing but who do you think we can go to for it?" He asked. Raven then stretched, "I can." She said. I was drinking some water but when I heard what she said, I just spat it all out to hell. I widened my eyes, "R-Really??? You know how to fight?" I asked, "Well yeah. My tribe teaches us how to fight even at a young age. We all have the same endurance and strength. The strength I used to kind of knock you out a while back." She jokes. I snickered and nodded, "You sure you'll teach me...?" I asked a bit doubting myself. I was never a fighting person really...I'm more on the 'waiting it out' side.

Raven nodded, "Of course! It'll be okay don't worry!" She smiled at me. I blushed a lot more, "Y-Yay..." I said silently while doing a little fist pump. She then looks around, "My friends can also help with the training." She said. I nodded quickly and saluted her, "Yes ma'am!" I said with a big smile. Raven giggled. Soon, we decided to just go with it already. Ignatius sits on a rock while Fenner lays on his head, "What will they be doing?" The fairy asked. Ignatius watched, "Training." He replies to the fairy. I then hop around pretty ready, "I'm ready I'm ready!!! Come on!!!" I said excitedly while putting my fists out. Raven stands against me a few meters away with her arm resting on her hip, "Off with your shirt." She said seriously. I stopped doing the pumped little movements, "Wait, what?" I paused. Raven flicks her hand gesturing it, "Off with your shirt." She repeated. I looked over to Ignatius, "It's normal, Child. Even soldiers from other kingdoms train with their shirts off for maximum damage left and felt." He shares. I sighed and blushed, holding my shirt a bit tight. I don't really do that often...this is a first for me. I then gulped and turned around as I took my shirt off.

Raven's pov.

I waited for her to get ready for training. While doing so, I couldn't help...but look. I blushed madly seeing her take her shirt off. She had the usual thick cloth covering her chest but her body had scars on it. Even so, she still looked...perfect...to me. I cleared my throat as she turns around, "There..." She blushes. I smiled, "Don't worry. There's nothing wrong." I said before giving her a warm and wide smile. Kaida crosses her arms and smiles back at me. Her face had a scar similar to mine as if it was mirrored along with a red tint. Even if the scar's there on her face or body, she's still perfect...she's adorable.

kaida's pov.

I felt comfy with Raven already...she's helping me anyway and she doesn't seem to mind how I look at all or how my body contained scars and marks...Definitely a new one for me. I then look over, seeing her raising her shirt. Fenner then leans over to Ignatius' ear, "She's a tomato." I heard him whisper. I growled silently. I widened my eyes slightly at how beautiful she looked...her body had some marks here and there but that didn't really stop me from thinking of how she looked. I froze at her beauty. Raven threw her shirt off to the side, "You okay?" She asked me, I shook my head quickly snapping out of it, "Uh! Y-Yeah!" I said and nodded once. She nodded back and got into a stance, "I'm not going to move my arms. Try and hit me." She said with that serious look in her gorgeous yellow eyes. I glanced to the side, "Hit you...?" I said not wanting to hit her. Raven cuts me off before I even spoke, "Hit. Me. I'm just gonna put my arms right behind my back." She said before interlocking her hands behind her. I shook it off and just charged at her throwing a sucky punch targeting her face. In a split second, before my fist could even come near her face...she dodges it and hops up right before kicking me in the gut and in the face. I groaned and hurled as I get thrown not too far, "OW!!! FUCK!!!" I winced as I bend over while holding my stomach and my face at the same time. Ignatius nodded, "Your powers should kick in and help you get through the pain." He said.

I winced and growled. The mark started to pulse and grow more lines and marks around it, spreading to my whole forearm, "THAT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE HAPPENING AT ALL." I said with the devil trying to take advantage of my anger. Ignatius raises his eyebrow, "Calm down, Child. Try and think straight. Do not let your anger seep through because the devil will use that no matter how little it may seem. Keep that in mind." He shares. I held my face while the mark slowly goes back to its normal form, "Y-You're right...sorry..." I said and Raven offers her hand, "Get up. I can teach you that move if you want." She smiled. I blushed and winced slightly, "S-Sure." I smiled back at her. She's one hell of a power house I can tell you that. SHE HAD HER HANDS BEHIND HER AND SHE STILL SENT ME FLYING AND CURLING UP.
