Chapter 2

"Oh my gosh!"

I looked closer at my computer screen to see if I was reading the message correctly.

"Oh my gosh..."

I hurriedly grabbed my phone and called one of the only people I would ever tell this to.

"Charlotte!"

"Woah there girl. What's up with the yelling? I know you love me and all bu-"

"Char!"

"Okay okay. What's up?"

"You aren't gonna believe this Char. Chris just messaged me."

"What did he say? It can't be that bad, right?" she said nonchalantly.

"Char, it's really bad. I wouldn't be acting like this if it weren't."

"Well..." Charlotte replied.

"Charlotte!" I yelled, exasperated.

"Alright, fine. I'm done playing. Now what did he say?"

"He said that I have to agree to be in the game and I have to come to an agreement with his terms or else he would ruin my reputation...for good." I said urgently.

"And that isn't even the worst part..."

When I was done talking to Charlotte about the whole Chris situation, I decided to hop in the shower again and try to relax my heightening nerves.

I stripped down and stepped into the warm water, a calm instantly washing over me.

I just stood under the water and let my worries wash away for the moment. And then my mind began to drift to that stupid game.

I hate that game with a passion. I never want to be part of it. Ever. That game is just plain disgusting and it's demeaning to girls.

Deciding I was in the shower long enough, I stepped out and wrapped myself in my towel. I walked over to my closet to put something on and ultimately deciding on my Pikachu onesie.

If people found out I'm secretly an anime fan, I'd die. Period.

I went to my bed and finally laid down, nice and warm.

Before I drifted off to sleep, my last thought was about something, or rather someone, I've never really thought of before. Chris.

Ring

Ring

Ring

Ugh. There goes that damn alarm clock again. I really should get a better one.

I sat up groggily and turned the alarm clock off, whilst still being half asleep.

I got up and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth. As I was brushing my teeth, I heard my computer ping, signaling I got an email.

Who could be emailing me this early in the morning?

I groaned and walked over to my computer to open the email. My first thought when I opened it was, "Are you kidding me?"

It was from Chris. Again. I wanted to scream.

I opened it fully to see what he wanted now.

Dear Cassandra,

I just wanted to remind you of our little agreement yesterday. I will be picking you up right after school so we can finally come to a conclusion about it. And don't even think of trying to run away or else any possibility of us having a mutual agreement will be done. See you soon my dear Cassandra.

Yours Truly,

Chris

By the time I finished reading the email, I was beyond pissed off.

Who does he think he is making threats like that?

I'll show little Chris that when it comes to my reputation, I am not the one to mess with at all.

I hurriedly finished dressing, grabbed my phone off of the nightstand, my backpack, and an apple from the kitchen counter and headed to my car.

I never liked when people threatened me and I was sure as hell not about to start accepting it now.

While I was driving to school I got a text from my other best friend, Michelle. Michelle Simmons and I have known each other since we were little girls. She's the closest thing I have to a sister.

She wanted me to meet her after school because it was an "emergency". I just brushed it off because I know how she could be. That girl would think breaking a nail was an emergency. Plus, I already knew I couldn't dodge Chris or else my whole reputation would be at stake.

I just continued to drive to school, although it felt like I was driving straight to Hell's gates.

*******************

I finally arrive to school only to be greeted by the Devil himself. I am totally gonna take a social hit from this one. No doubt about that.

"Why hello there Cassandra. I didn't expect to see you here."

"Yeah you totally didn't expect to see me here. Oh and the sky is falling and pigs can fly." I said sarcastically.

"What do you want Chris? We aren't supposed to be meeting up until after school."

"Yeah well I decided to come see you earlier."

"Look, I don't know what game you're playing or what you're trying to pull, but I refuse to be part of it. So why don't you just leave me alone?" I said firmly.

He was silent for a moment. It seemed like he was about to tell me something, but thought against it and decided not to.

I just pushed past him and headed to my class early. Usually I would just hang around the school because I didn't like being one of the first ones in class, but today I'm making an exception. Anything to get away from Chris.

I open the door to my class and, to my surprise, no one is in the classroom. Not even the nerds. After seeing that, I felt weary about being the first person in the room.

I finally decided to just leave and find my friends when suddenly I collide with a random guy.

I fell with a thud along with the unknown guy, dropping my book in the process.

"Oh, I'm sorry about that," he said, holding his head in pain.

"Here, let me help you with that."

He helps me up and hands me my book. When we were both finally up, I took a look at him. He was tall, with short black hair and very deep blue eyes.

Just looking at him made me self-conscious.

"Oh, um thanks." I said awkwardly.

"No problem."

"I'm William. William Davis." He holds out his hand for me to shake.

I hesitate for a moment, but then give in and shake his hand.

"I'm Cassie Anders."

"Well then, nice to meet you Miss Anders." He smiles kindly at me as he says this.

He was too cute. I flushed slightly and hoped he didn't notice it.

I did notice he had a slight accent. I wonder where he's from.

"By any chance, are you from here?" My curiosity got the best of me.

He just gives me a little smile and shakes his head.

"No I'm not. I'm actually British, given the sound of my accent." He said this as if he's used to hearing this question.

I just nod and look away awkwardly. I had no idea what was going on with me. I never act like this. I just decided to relieve myself of the embarrassment and bid my goodbyes to him.

"Well uh, I guess I'll be going then."

"See you later then, Cassie." he says.

I just turn slightly around and nod my head.

Boy was that an experience.

The day just seemed to drag on forever after that. I couldn't help but think about William the whole day though. He has to be new here or I would have noticed. Wouldn't I?

Lunch finally rolled around and I was bored out of my mind. I just decided to sit with my usual group of friends since Charlotte and Michelle seemed to be nowhere on campus today.

I checked my phone to see if I got any texts from either one of them, but I didn't. That's weird, I thought. Usually at least Michelle texts me by now.

I just shrugged it off and continued the rest of my day, dreading what was to come once the last bell rings.
