Chapter 05

Yuri stared at his house door, reaching for the keyhole with his keys only to hesitate when he heard the laughter of his siblings. He wasn't supposed to be home an hour early. He was never supposed to be anywhere but, on time.

So he took a deep breath and placed the keys inside, slowly turning them in hopes of being going unheard, even though it would be very improbable.

He heard and felt the door unlock, so he slowly pulled the door handle towards himself before pushing it down even slower. He peeked through the small crack and saw that the hallway was clear.

He slowly let go of the handle to its original position and backed up from the door before gently bending down to his shoes and discreetly taking them off.

He held both of the shoes in his left hand before creating an even bigger crack in the door. He stuck his head in through the small space and looked both left and right before entering inside.

The young omega gazed at the sumptuous halls filled with family photos concealing their fake lives, the expensive ornaments collected by his mother and the prizes won by his siblings while his' trophies were in the basement.

He overheard the deep sniggers of his younger brother and immediately forefoot ran to his room, forgetting to close the main door behind him as he ran to his escape.

Yuri slowly rushed up the stairs and pressed him against the wall before staring forward at the hallway in front of him. He sighed in relief when he didn't see anyone, so he turned his head and looked back before taking a huge risk and sprinting to his room.

He entered the already opened room and quickly trying to catch the least amount of attention as possible as he shut the door before placing his forehead against the wooden portal of his shelter.

It was tiring. The repeated cycle of hiding in the room was tiring. The repeated series of checking for footsteps was exhausting. Yuri was getting drained of the repeats of his routines, you could see in the way he slid down the door and hugged his knees.

The young boy's tears weren't new to his blue jeans. His cheeks had welcomed the signs of sadness a long time ago, as he became a specialist in muffling his blues, the room engulfed the boy in memories of a warmth known as the feeling of innocuous, harmless, 'safe'.

The hurting of muffling his sobs in his throat didn't hurt as much as calling out for a parent figure did. It was getting tired of Yuri. He may be a young and diminutive boy in university, but he was no foolish boy. He knew that year by year his wolf was getting weaker without its mate by his side. He needed to find his mate before he loses his wolf completely.

So with those thoughts in mind, Yuri stood up and dashed to his cupboard before slamming the cabinet door open. He then rummaged through the laundry basket and took out the hidden duffel bag hidden in the bottom. Yuri stood still when he touched the rough material of the handle strap and reconsidered his rash and impulsive decision.

"What if," the black-haired boy muttered to himself, but then he suddenly shook his head and hid the bag in its original place only to turn and head for the bathroom.

Around dinner time, Yuri's door received attention after he attempted to sneak inside his own house.

Yuri was doing some homework when the harsh knock caused him to flinch the pencil out of his hands. He stared at the door for a few seconds before sighing as he got up and went to answer the door.

The black-haired student was confused when he saw his das smiling at him widely, while his mother was practically jumping in her spot.

Yuri just stared at them for a solid minute until he cleared his throat and asked them what he could help them.

"When were you going to tell us this wonderful news, Yuri?" The wrinkled smiling woman asked her oh so beloved son.

Yuri furrowed his brows and cocked his head softly, "About what?" he asked back, drawing the first word longer.

"About your results on the Omega Assessment?!" His father replied this time, "Whoever your mate is surely going to be of high status, your wolf is too matured for you're age!"

Yuri just stared at his parents in shock. His emotions could be expressed by the way his hands were shaking.

"You're lying," Yuri gasped, he saw the paper in his father's hands, snatching it as he tried to read the report himself. "I'm- I'm a pure Omega?"

"Yes Yuri," His mother confirmed as if the reports didn't say anything, "You're the second rarest breed out there!"

"please-" Yuri croaked, "Please give me space to think this over, I need some time."

The old folks nodded and left their son with the news, murmuring ways they could let the neighbourhood and their family know of this blithe achievement.

Was it good news? It surely had its perks, but there was no doubt that trouble was ahead. Yuri knew what this would mean for him. He rushed inside his bathroom and spilt out all of his lunch onto the sink, looking up and only to find his horror.

A paled skinned person with black hair, so black that it reminded him of the darkest nights. Eyes that reminded him of oak trees and green leaves. He was staring back at his own horror, a horror that would make him suffer countless dilemmas.

He was one of the only twelve people in the world who could bear a True Blood Alpha and this would mean, he was now a walking target.
