A Painful Dessert……

Confusion can be something that makes progress in your brain, yet it can also create problem in our lives. It is that part of your memory that connects you with a struggle of a problem that cannot be solved. It is dangerous when this confusion makes you forget what you is around when you are in your own fictional mind and that is when mistakes happen. It seemed like her surroundings went slow. She interacted a little then hid back and avoided interaction altogether. She was looking at the glass of apple juice. There was little bubbles surrounding the corner of the glass. She lost sight of Megan and Helea. Maybe she saw them or maybe it was just an imagination. The excitement that filled her when she arrived just left her in just a moment. ‘I do not want to do anything with him I just want to survive and leave why? Why does it keep on hurting so much?’ She shook her head to get all these thought out of her head. She moved forward. ‘I need to leave this place and get my head straight’ “ How are you doing today Sarah?’ she was greeted by Chef Wen. He looks flustered from the kitchen heat and came to greet the guests. Alya greeted him and smiled. She enjoyed the dessert more than the savory bits. “ I feel like I am already full of sweetness. Everything tastes so delicious.” “ I agree Chef Wen however I like the frittatas more” Brian joined them he had Cynthia still holding his arm. This time she did not miss it. Cynthia did have a mean focus on her which changed in another moment. Even though she noticed she greeted them as nicely as she can although the throbbing on her shoulder made her think otherwise. ‘Maybe I can do something to make her not feel hostile? I was good with kids once’ The success of that occurring felt very slim. She thought I have to start somewhere so she tried to join the small conversation as a start. “ Which of the desserts did you like Miss Cynthia?” she was worried she might be ignored causing an awkward moment however Cynthia did reply instead of ignoring. “ I love the white butterscotch pastry it melts in your mouth. Did you try it Miss Greenfield?” Alya smiled and said “ No I am sorry thank you for mentioning I must try it” “ Let’s not wait I want to try another piece too” she replied. Alya wanted to avoid it but Chef Wen called the waiter and they were served. Alya looked at the plate and took a bite while listening to Chef Wen about the procedure. It was a small size two-inch piece she cut it into half and took a bite. Something felt funny and stinging she thought it was something really interesting in the pastry. She became deaf to the words spoken by the people around her. She took another bite of it her tongue this time felt heavy and she can’t taste the flavor. She gave the plate to the passing waiter. She was fearing about something Alya, “ Sir what were the ingredients that you used here it felt different.” Chef Wen, “ The same regular ingredient Vanilla cream and caramel drops.” Cynthia, “The butter is different it felt like peanut.” Chef Wen, “ Yes it is peanut butter mixed with regular butter.” Alya felt her body. She did not want to ruin the party, she tried to erase the sweating all around her face it was feeling stuffy. She wanted to excuse herself before the signs come out. She excused herself uttering an apology. Walking out of the room felt very hard. She struggled not to lose control over her balance ‘Why is the door so far away?’ She struggled to drag herself and keep her body straight till the door. After that what will she do she does not know. Her brain was going all fuzzy she could not think straight. Her throat felt like someone pumped air into it. Her right hand came up to her throat, she coughed out to breath. Breathing is becoming harder and vision is getting a bit blurry has it being too long she shook her head and looked around she left the banquet room and came out to the hallway. She felt her body banding a bit. At the end of the entry she can see someone talking to one of the waiters. The waiter nodded and left somewhere. The dress was familiar ‘Helea she can help me’ Brian He respected Chef Wen joining him and Sarah was a good idea to pass the time. He hates these annual parties as they tend to get dull and Cynthia gets too clingy on him. He can’t understand why she gets these much possessive is beyond his understanding. Alya, “ Sir what were the ingredients that you used here it felt different.” Chef Wen, “ The same regular ingredient Vanilla cream and caramel drops.” Cynthia, “The butter is different it felt like peanut.” Chef Wen, “ Yes it is peanut butter mixed with regular butter.” He looked at Sarah her face turned from a fear to smile in minutes. Did he see it wrong? when she excused herself his eyes followed her. That walk is not looking normal something is definitely wrong he did see her shiver. He excused himself and walked towards the exit as fast as he can. He saw her in the arms of Helea. Brian, “ What happened?” Helea panicked “ She must have eaten something wrong. She is having a hard time breathing ” what did she eat was it in the cake? ‘ We had the same nothing seemed odd’ She uttered two words “ Nut, allergy” . Those were enough to know what happened. “ Helea get back into the party tell them I left due to an emergency call” He quickly bend down picked her up and quickly head towards his car.
